Yes, I would probably wait until after Jan. 20th to send it! I'm totally doing it! Will let you know what kind of response I get!

Did you know that you can invite Barack Obama to your wedding !!!! I think this is SO cool!!! Check out this website for more details: Celebrity Weddings: Keepsake Idea: Invite President-Elect Barack Obama to Your Wedding Obviously, I doubt he would actually come to my wedding (unless he is needing a Mexican vacation in May ) But, I'm ordering my invites today and will order an extra one to send to him.... who knows??

Thank you so much for your review! It looks like you had a beautiful day! Congratulations! It's great to hear such positive things about EDR! I'm looking forward to my own wedding there in May. Just wondering...is there anything that you might have done different? Also, did you have a welcome party for your guests?

HI Kristie! Welcome to the forum! I am getting married at EDR in May despite some of the negative things said on this forum. I visited the resort last May and I have to say it is beautiful! I feel confident that a wedding there will be wonderful. I was ok with the outside vendor policies, which is why I chose to have my wedding there. Just thought I'd give you some reassuring thoughts.....

I know of the blue parrot hotel...its right on 5th avenue(the main street with lots of shops/restaurants) in pdc. I didn't see much of it when I was there, but, I would say if you want a place that is centrally located/in the middle of all the action...it's a good choice, don't know about the beach situation. Also, it looked like the front part is a club/bar at night. Hope that helps!

Thanks for all of your input! I feel better knowing that others have similar situations. The reasons that some of you think I shouldn't send an invite and others think I should, is almost the exact dialogue I've been having in my head! Since I wasn't super good friends with the girl who cut herself off anyway, I'm leaning towards not sending. I'm pretty confident that even if I sent her an invite, she wouldn't go, and i don't want her to feel like I'm looking for a gift. As for the other 2, since there are no bad feelings, its just we're not as close anymore, I think its best to send an invite. I actually think they may come (they've both told me)! For some reason, I still feel a little awkward about it. I guess if they're willing to make the effort/spend the money to come to my wedding, they must still want to maintain a friendship, right? I hate that weddings make you have to analyze and reevaluate all your friendships! Ughh! Thanks everyone!

So, I sent my STD's out in July (10 months before my wedding) and will be sending my invites out soon. Now, I'm realizing that there a few people that I already sent STD's to that I might not have invited. One person, I actually haven't spoken to in months and has cut herself off from all of our friends. Is it rude not to send an invitation to her now? The other few people, I'm not as close to anymore and I kind of feel it's a little weird to be inviting them now (but, I'll probably still send an invite). Has anyone had this happen? What did/are you going to do? Help! I've been really stressing about this recently... like in the middle of the night...it's so weird.

Wedding Colors~Chocolate brown/Lavender
Rhonda replied to RRsmile's topic in General Wedding Planning Information
WOW! I am so happy to find this thread! All week I have been thinking about my wedding colors because i need to choose invitations ASAP and want them all to match. The colors I have narrowed down are chocolate brown/lavendar or smokey purple and aqua or maybe sage. I have not really seen this done. Does anyone have more pics? what about bridesmaids? I'm kinda late on this post...but, thought maybe you've all come up with stuff? Plus, I noticed some of us are getting married the same day! -

Ok, I see...well, if the nice backdrop is important to you, then maybe you should just keep your private reception as planned. have you thought about using the free private event for brunch instead? like the morning after? but, i understand that it would be nice to use it for the reception. were you going to have music for your reception? as for invites, i've been struggling with when to send/and rsvp date as well. At first I was planning on sending them the first week in Jan. with RSVP Feb 1, but, now I'm thinking March 1 OR sending them early November. I'm confused as well. There was talk about this on another thread...May 2009 Brides....

My original plan was to have our free dinner @ Las Fuentes on the day before, and have the Deluxe Buffet reception @ Tucanes. Please Help...I'm really at loss now & I don't know how to plan something that's at least semi-private where we can have some time for music & dancing. I guess we could do the free dinner...but then what?? I wonder...is there any music playing in the background @ Las Fuentes & El Cocotal? Were you using the free dinner for your rehearsal? If so, you could still continue with your plan of a private reception, but, just have less people. I'm not sure if there's background music at the restaurants.

I think the individual ones are more private because they stand alone. Sorry to not answer your question. Thanks for your input, pryzless. We ended up booking the individual casita because it's more private, but, I'm kind of hoping we get upgraded to the infinity pool casita because that one is AWESOME!

My Fi Is From Another Planet...i Swear!
Rhonda replied to KAMAY11's topic in Just venting or funnies
I haven't gone through that situation (YET!) But, I can relate because just last week my FI was like "...oh yeah, I will totally get excited once the wedding's all planned.." um....so, WHO do you think is gonna do that? (it's like he thinks it will magically happen! ) -
Hi, For some reason, I'm feeling a little lost about invitations for my wedding. I am wondering, where did you buy your invitations (for those who did not DIY)? What is the average $ people spent on invitations? What did you include with your invitations? How far in advance did you send them out and how much time did you give people to RSVP? I think I want to do the pocketfold invites, so, if anyone has any good resources for that type, I'd love to know about it! I apologize if this thread is somewhere else, but, I searched and could not find anything.

This is a great question! Thank you for bringing this up! I am also having a welcome party (2 days before the wedding). Ours will be at the resort. I hadn't thought about RSVP for this. On the invite RSVP card, maybe you can also add something like "Will/will not attend welcome party on .....(date, time)" Just a quick thought....maybe other people have ideas....

Thanks, Case, after reading this i started to panic. Blktz, yes, we are getting married the same day! I'm actually using Citali (from Claudia Rodriguez) because Claudia was booked. I really think they all do excellent work.

OMG! I feel like a total slacker right now! This thread has definitely made me think I need to do more! So far, all I've done is: Picked resort, booked date Wedding website complete Sent out save the date magnets (July '0 Picked my dress (ordering it tomorrow- yay!) Booked photographer (Claudia Rodriguez) DJ booked Welcome party, ceremony, cocktail hour locations picked. Right now, I'm thinking about color scheme and will be checking out BM dresses (online) with sis this weekend. Oh, and going to book our I feel the same as Kristy, for some reason, I know it will all get done and I'm not worried, but, maybe I should be! I'm planning on sending out invites first week in Jan. with RSVP by 2/1. It is kind of annoying not to have a head count right now though. But, I don't want to send them out too early or during the holidays. We'll probably send out an email to everyone next month reminding them to book. So far we only have 14 (not including us).
