Tina82 I get what your saying. If someone got engaged while at my DW I think i would be annoyed to. it isn't often you get to be the center of attention and have people celebrate your moment and I think that would be spoiled a bit by a friend getting engaged during your DW! I think she'll get over being mad at you for telling her how you feel!

We are getting married May 15, 2009 in the DR and will be there until the 21st. We'll then come home and have our AHR on Sat. June 6th from 5:00-10:00 PM for possibly up to 200 people. Our budget is $2500 (which after we set this budget FI dad gave us $$ for it) but we are lucky that I am of the Eagles club and got the club for $375 and my friends parents can cook for us so for about $1200 they can feed our guests a choice of chicken, pork or vegetarian. My mom is helping out by paying for open bar part of the night. we are using our Ipod and got speakers from the Christmas tree store. Favors will be $1 scratch tickets and decorations are a minimum (vases from michaels and I plan on getting fake orchids and doing a "drowned flower" center piece with some bling bling on the tables. I found out my mom is throwing my shower really early ( as in the next few weeks!..but she doesn't know I know!) and we haven't sent out invites for the AHR only invites for the people invited to the wedding in the DR. and the shower is going to include people who are only invited to the AHR (pretty much everybody is only invited to the AHR) oh well I'll just have to explain that invitations are going out the mail the beginning/middle of Feb (with a RSVP date of April 15th)

I can only get it if I change the format of the forum. I like the first set you posted and I a not a big fan of the one under the "different seller". We aren't doing people toppers, we got a mirrored starfish and have added crystals in our colors, my FI actually just finished the project a few nights ago and I think it looks great! So that could be an option for you, if you like it.

I like the idea of easy and "summery" because we are getting married May 15th and our AHR is Saturday, June 6th! I tell you my AHR is freaking me out more than my actual wedding! Thank god for DW!!!!!

Those all sound like wonderful ideas. My friends parents are going to cook for us, which helps with the budget end of things but I just found out that we can only have the AHR place for 5 hours so now I am thinking I want something that is fast and easy to serve so we can spend more time having fun dancing and drinking!

We use doggie daycare for our dogs. Our place cost $15/day per dog and then $28 if we want to leave them over night. It is totally worth it! Our dogs come home so tired and it is so nice because our black lab can have an endless supply of energy and sometimes it is nice to send her so she can get her "ya-ya's" out!

We are in the process of beginning to try and plan our AHR. We are planning on 200 people for the AHR, and have a friends parents doing the catering. We are trying to come up with a menu. Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated..

We are using bubbles. I don't see why clear bubbles would stain your dress!

Hey ladycheese! I am so happy you are back! congrats on being a Mrs. but sorry to hear about the drama! Those are too funny.....and I am sure some guests feel that way! I really like the one about "your wedding is the perfect chance to see a place I'm not really dying to see" I am sure some of my guests think that about the DR but I am sure once they get there they'll love and want to go back!

Wooo Hooo -- All the Ghost Hunter fans...it's time to call TAPS!!!! Anyway that is creepy! The only thing that has happened to me was our Dishnetwork stations would change but only in our upstairs bedroom and I figured out it was most likely that our neighbors had an upstairs TV and there was a crossing of the signals but if the actual TV changed that is creepy! Do you have cats that might have stepped on the remote? I love the thought of ghosts but don't want to actually see one!

That sucks. I know you said it was custom made and there aren't refunds/returns but if what you agreed to buy isn't what you got I think you could call and let them know! If you don't have crystals and a few whispy feathers has given you a whole bird on your head I could see why you aren't happy! I would at least call and tell them your disappointment.

I have mentioned this on a few different posts but looking online this morning I found little bags that will make my idea easier --and who would have thought--someone thought of it before me! Glassine Envelopes - Medium / Pack of 50 : Unique Wedding Favors - Wedding Reception Favors - Bridal Shower Favors I want to give scratch tickets out as our favors for our AHR because I don't like the stuff with the bride and grooms name all over it because it isn't practical and my guess is that people will either leave it or never use it! I was going to have my sister write a poem about being lucky in love but then I wasn't sure how i'd have people scratch them etc... so I found these little bags and I like the idea of printing off a small sticker and placing it on top and adding a penny in there. The ones in the post are a bit cheesy but there is a link to a higher quality one that you could 100 bags for $20 bucks.
