  1. We recently received an invitation that stated something like " we are asking that children be limited to immediate family members of the Bride and Groom" that way kids can still be invited and you can include your daughter, which I am going to assume is important to you. I am not sure if immediate family is who you are referring to when it comes to the other children but hopefully this helps. Also, I don't have kids but I wasn't offended by it and I can't see how anyone could be offended by what I wrote above.
  2. We got some too because I think they will look cool in reception pictures! I think they'll be fine for traveling!
  3. we got travel first aid kits from Bed Bath and Beyond for like $.99/each and added extra stuff like travel sewing kit, pepto and all the other stuff we thought people would need. We then printed a sticker with a poem about being under the weather and put that on to cover the orginal first aid sticker. Just about everything we added to the box we got from Bed bath and beyond- there travel section is great. Hope that helps!
  4. We had Sprouille Designs(see the sticky thread) from here at the forum..It was only $5 for three different ones I think.. We are using it for quite a bit, stickers, on our invites, etc.
  5. How are you addressing your AHR invites We can't decide between formal or informal on them What do you think?
  6. Welcome!! We will be getting married in 4 months there... This site has made it much easier, got tons of information & ideas here.
  7. IMO, if this is the only day it can work for people that you should be there. My guess is that the shower won't be until later in the morning or early afternoon, which gives you time to sleep in, get ready for the day. I know I would be disappointment in my bridesmaid if she didn't show up for the imporant before wedding events.
  8. Are people coming in on Friday night? If so could you offer to throw a welcome party at your house where at the same time you celebrate your daughter's birthday? That way it isn't the day before and gives everyone coming in to town something to do if that night isn't already planned for!
  9. I can totally relate! I had a dream a few nights ago that I was getting married in one of our local grocery stores...which i refer to as "scary food city"! I was literally wakling down the isle! But my attitude was "well let's do it anyway!" Let's hope if things go wrong on the big day that will still be my attitude!
  10. We DIY for our DW invites, which we sent to 60 people but we used Seal-n-Send.com: Seal-n-Send Wedding Invitations - Inexpensive and unique wedding invitations for our AHR where we are inviting out 200 people so we got 125 invites. we just got them in the mail and I really like them. We chose the Bonita style and used blue ink and they came out great, I loved them!
  11. I have two to add now..and possibly a 3rd one (need to wait till I get home to see how the invitations turned out before I say anything) We Offer Silk Flowers, Floral Supplies and Silk Wedding Flowers. - we are doing drowned centerpieces for our AHR and I got a total of 25 flowers from them for $70 bucks. They aren't anything I would use for a bouquet but for our centerpieces I coudln't beat the price! http://www.theperfectcardbox.com/aboutkellymarie.html -We are using this lockable, turnable 4 sided 8x10 card box for our AHR. I can't wait to get it. I got what is called their "scratch and dent" sale for only $55 and free shipping! I think it is beautfiul and can't wait to use it after the AHR
  12. Besides the towels all the stuff I posted filled the bottom of the bag...I guess I just have the mentality that more is better but your guests are going to be happy and not think "god this bag is empty! plus I think the size is good so they can bring it to the pool with stuff they'll need for the day. As for the towels, my mom got me those at the end of the summer from the Christmas Tree shop...if you have one of those around you I recommend checking it out...I got my bug wipes there, my travel mugs, my towels, ohhh nail kit(tweezers, file and clippers). They were about 1.99 each and my mom couddln't talk them down from that...like I said they aren't the super thick lush type but they'll do so our guest don't have to fight for towels at the resort, they can just bring their own.
  13. I personally think they look great and you get a bunch of colors. Ours fits: 2 towels (not the super thick but will do) 2 travel mugs 1 first aid/hangover kit 1 bottle of bug wipes 1 travel candle 2-3 squishy balls to play with in the pool 1 Welcome book and maybe some other stuff..I haven't looked in the "trial" bag I made in awhile but it all fits and isn't jammed in there...I was actually thinking I hsould add some more so it didn't look empty!
  14. we got those and mind you I haven't opened all the packages yet but the ones we did they didn't smell! Plus I think if you got them and they did smell you could call customer service and do a return. I say go for it!
  15. I did one more search on the BBB and typed in save-on-crafts.com and this is what I got...not a D but a C- Business Report
  16. I just checked them out on BBB.org and they got a D rating and the BBB recommends using their site with caution here is the link to check out what I found Business Report
  17. For the question about invites... We did our destination wedding ones (well FI did them) and we sent 60 and probably cost us about $60 to make and send For our AHR 200 invites are going out.....we used a company called www.seal-n-send.com and chose the Bonita style. They fold in on themselves and guest tear off a response card which is post card size, so you spend less shipping wise will only require a 42 cent stamp and a post card stamp. We got 125 invites, we asked for colored lettering which was $6/extra and an email proof which was $15 and after shipping we were at $178. We were going to do them ourselves but doing that many is time consuming and I am sure after buying the kit, gettting the ink, and paying the extra postage for a regular response card and invitation I am sure we'll come out even. Also, I had to share this...............I am trying to convince FI that this is the card box we need for the AHR...totally practical afterwards!!! I am going to get a scratched and dent verious which saves us $$ and all that it might have is a tiny scratch that can be painted over! http://www.theperfectcardbox.com/photoalbum.html
  18. We are using TA Dina from here on the forum, and she has been GREAT to work with. This is the first time we have used a Travel Agent, and she has been very helpful, I would definatly recommend her!
  19. Our AHR is June 6th, our RSVP's are going out in the middle of Feb with a middle of April RSVP date. We are sending them out sort of early but summer is a busy time and I don't want people to book up the saturday with somethign else...plus people are really slow with RSVPing so we thought we'd give them a bit more time...and lastly my friends parents are cooking for us so they want to start buying the meat and stuff in early May
  20. Thanks so much!! this makes we want to buy more stuff.....ahhhhhh!!!!!
  21. I am getting married right around you and I just made my appointment for alterations yesterday and will start them on Feb. 20th. so I would suggest just trying it on because I bet you it is still going to fit fine! But make your appointment so at least you're on your seamstress's schedule! Good Luck
  22. Anyone with a Beachbody P90X they are looking to get rid of? I just made my appointment for my alterations and need to get my butt in gear to make it so my dress fits perfectly. if you do let me know.....I can pay you through paypal.
  23. My mom and sister and throwing mine! And I have actually been to quite a few where the mom was the host. I don't think there is a rule that the mom can't throw a shower...perhaps lay it on thick with your mom that you'd like one but that no one is getting it together...
  24. I do $50 gift for "general" friends and family. If you are near and dear to me I go beyond that..I would say for my friends wedding I was in I spent about $100-$150 on the present not including buying the dress, helping to host a Jack and Jill party as well as other little things!
  25. We are dealing with this but our resort doesn't need to know how many are coming with us by a certain date (well maybe by April when the WC will actually contact us to start planning things out) But yes, we have 15 booked with about 13 that we are pretty sure are coming but havne't booked and then about another 5-8 that haven't RSVP and I don't know if they are coming or not and the rest have sent in RSVPs already! We only invited 60 people (the real near and dear)
