Jen- your teaser pics are gorgeous! I can't wait to see more! I'm so sorry about the hotel situation--that is totally unprofessional. Did you book your mariachi through the hotel or through an outside company? Were you happy with them?

Advice on Tulum hotels?
San Fran Sarah replied to Maegan606's topic in Riviera Maya and Cancun Accommodations & Site
Check out Ana y Jose--they have a hotel and a beach club and a wedding planner Tulum Weddings - The perfect wedding destination. We are getting married at the beach club and our guests are staying in Cabanas along the beach. Most of our guests are staying at La Zebra, Ana y Jose or La Luna -

Great job! The boxes are a fantastic idea. FYI I got a box of Advil packets on ebay for less that .50 a pack if you are still looking. -
Rehearsal Dinner in Pacific Beach
San Fran Sarah replied to thomastaci22's topic in Southern California Weddings
I think the Firehouse would be perfect. Contact the manager, her name is Holly. They have a great upstairs patio with a view and a Firepit. Their food is really good and they have a full bar. -
I bought these fabulous Manolos online but when they arrived they were too big on me . I'm selling them on ebay. They are a size 8.5 (38.5) and fit like an 8.5 (I'm usually an 8 but some Manolos run small--not these apparently). They are entirely covered in sequins and they have a Swarovski crystal buckle. Here is the link: MANOLO BLAHNIK Gold Sequin Ankle Strap Sandals 38.5 - eBay (item 300296768582 end time Mar-03-09 07:28:16 PST)

Anyone "Jumping the Broom"??
San Fran Sarah replied to BillysBride's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
I like the idea a lot... definitely not too cheesy (or cheesy in a good way). I'm surprised to have found so many other Jewish and Black couples! I'm Jewish and my FI is black. We were going to jump the broom but I got kind of stressed out about finding a broom and decorating it and transporting it but now that I saw your amazing broom we will have to reconsider. Another thing we are doing to honor his background is we are pouring libations. From what I understand pouring of the libation is a traditional African ceremony in which water is poured on the ground in the four directions in remembrance and honor of the couple’s ancestors. During the ceremony we will call out the names of family members that have recently passed, or who could not be there on our wedding day. The ritual is intended to celebrate the coming together of two families. (I really like that element). We are breaking a glass too to honor my background. My FI was joking we could jump over the broom onto the glass. . .now that would be cheesy. -
I was going to have my hotel room block and my welcome dinner at the hotel. I understand that they sold the property, that they were going to cater to gay and lesbian couples, and then they changed their mind. However in the interim we canceled our hotel block. The hotel is beautiful and a great deal but they were very very difficult to deal with. It made me nervous because they lost people's faxes, didn't respond to emails, didn't know who had booked. Honestly, it may turn out to be a great place for a wedding if they get their sh**t together but in the meantime you would probably be safer choosing a hotel that is tried and true.

Home urine pregnancy tests (urine HCG) are very good (sensitive) tests. Assuming you are confident that you are reading the test correctly then most likely you are in fact pregnant. There is no evidence that drinking coffee (in moderation) is dangerous in pregnancy so that is one less thing to worry about. When was the first day of your last menstrual cycle? How long have you been having the sore breasts? What medications do you take? You should definitely discuss those medications with your doctor. Also, if you think you might want to keep the pregnancy I would recommend taking a prenatal vitamin and avoiding alcohol until you make a decision. Although I think pregnant brides are lovely and radiant it's a good idea to date your pregnancy with your menstrual period and an ultrasound in the first trimester because it's best not to be traveling so far from home in the late third trimester. I'm sure you and your fiance will come together and make the right decision for the two of you as a family. PM me if you have any questions.

Laura Hooper made our STD map cards. She is great to work with and she really personalizes the cards (the wedding site, welcome dinner site, the airport, local attractions, your home towns---whatever places you want). If you mention her lucky orchid etsy discount price then it is $415 for the map design and printing of 100 maps. Its a bit of a splurge but it was worth it. Here is her website and our STD cards: Welcome to Laura Hooper's Calligraphy

Also, jamali gardens is having a sale and these are on sale 6 for 17 dollars (around 2.80 each). I think the colored ones are nicer but I thought you guys might be interested. You have to purchase 50 dollars worth of goods or they charge you a 10 dollar fee for some reason though. They have other great things that I am thinking of getting and would be interested in sharing such as to do this with: and these

Hi ladies, I was wondering if anyone would like to share these lights with me: I was thinking to get 20 to hang over the dinner tables in the grape orchard. They cost between 3.25 and 4.25 per lamp so the total will be aprox 75 dollars plus tax and shipping. I estimate it would be about 40 dollars each. Which ever of us is going down first could bring them and who ever is coming back could bring them back. We may even be able to sell them after on the forum to make some of the money back. They are same ones that were used in Lauren's wedding: del Sol Photography Wedding Photojournalism Kristin, When do you leave? Are you so excited?
