  1. What about for Ocho Rios? Has anyone used a florist there (if I didn't want to pay for a delivery fee for Floral Fantasy to deliver from Negril)?
  2. Here's a link to a website that shows the times for sunrises and sunsets. It's set up for Kingston, Jamaica, which is probably close enough to give you an approximate time. You can select the date. Looks like the sunset on Oct 31, 2008 is at 5:35pm.
  3. Just bumping this up. I could really use the help if anyone has any info. Thanks!
  4. I prefer the strapless dress on you over the halter. It looks fabulous! But if you're not sure, keep looking. You'll find one you love.
  5. Wow! Great video. Thanks for the link. I went to their website (after noticing that they were Canadian) to see more pictures, and oh my god, they're incredible! And the videos...they made me cry here at the computer. If only I could afford them.
  6. Welcome and congrats! It will be great to have more guys on here and hearing about their ideas and opinions on their weddings. Goodluck with your planning, there's tons of info on here.
  7. I'm getting married at the Riu Ocho Rios in January and have 3 guests coming from Australia. I am just wondering if anyone knows whether there are tour companies that do packages to the Riu resorts from Australia. Or has anyone ever dealt with this with their guests or in planning your own wedding. Any TA's have advice. Thanks!
  8. Thanks so much for sharing your great review and pictures. It looks like it was a beautiful wedding and you looked gorgeous! I love the shot of dinner at Mammee Bay. You mentioned that you brought decorations with you. Did you use them for the tables at the reception? I couldn't quite see what they were. Some people have said that there isn't much room on the table for decorations, so I was wondering what yours were like. Do you have a close up picture? Also, it looks like you had tables set up outside of the Seagrape. Did that cost anything extra? Thanks!
  9. Oooohhhh! Great post! I have very curly hair too and have been worried about this issue. I haven't put a lot of thought into it yet, but know it's going to be a problem. It's starting to get quite humid here in Ottawa where I live, so I should start doing some practice this summer. Thanks for the links to the other hair posts, especially Heidi's curly hair post. I think that I'm going to re-read her review and ask her some more questions about how her hair went. We should try to keep this post going though and help each other out with style ideas and ways to combat the frizziness.
  10. Wow! Those are beautiful! Where did you find inexpensive chandeliers that you can bring down to Jamaica with you?
  11. Hi! I'd love to see pictures of a poolside reception too. I think that it would be great. Has Chandlyn been responsive in answering your questions even though your wedding is so far away still? I'm getting married in January and haven't gotten in touch with her yet, but I guess I had better get on that. Did you ask Chandlyn if she has any pictures of pool receptions?
  12. Beautiful slide show. Thanks very much for sharing. The reception on the beach looked fabulous. Did you have to bring centerpieces to the resort with you or were you able to do something with what they had there? Was the dinner okay? Similar to other food at the resort? Were there any other costs beyond the per person charge for the reception?
  13. Congratulations! Glad to hear that you had a great time and can't wait to read more about it. Enjoy your AHR!
  14. Beautiful pictures! Your dress and jewellery were perfect. Looks like a wonderful wedding day. Thanks so much for sharing them.
  15. Congratulations! Glad to hear your wedding was great and can't wait to read more details and see some pictures. That's fun that you got to meet another BDW girl down there.
  16. Tough choices! I've been trying on the first dress too, so I understand! I love it too. The shape looks beautiful on you. And the frill at the bottom is so beachy to me. I love the lace on the second one though too. Goodluck with the decision. I don't know how I'm going to make mine.
  17. Those are some SEXY pictures Heidi. They will be so nice to have and look at forever. I love the black and white one back at the hotel in the surf (#47). It reminds me of the Madonna "Cherish" video (although she doesn't have a hot guy on the beach with her). HOTTTT!
  18. Congrats Heidi! You weren't kidding about there being a ton of them. The pictures are fabulous and it looks like you (and everyone else) had a great day. Goodluck choosing which ones to print. I'm off to look at your TTD shots now.

I am too so I was going to ask where you got them done here in town. But the I saw this reply that you went to Toronto. Everything good is in Toronto eh! I will look into the photographer though. They look FAB-U-LOUS!

It's so exciting to have him be a part of our whole wedding experience. Very happy for you! Now you can relax a little bit! Congratulations again! So you're the lucky bride that booked with Nathaniel! I was trying to decide about booking him for that same day in Jamaica, but you booked before me. You're going to have great photos! To second everyone's praise for Nathaniel, he has been so helpful since my date got booked. He sent me a list of photographers that he recommends. Not to mention his fabulous photos. He's got great kids too -we were on the phone while he was driving them somewhere and they were very excited about where they were going, but so good and let Dad work on the phone. Congrats on the anniverary Nathaniel! I think that I've found someone that I like but I'm still trying to make a final decision about photography. I think that I REALLY want to have some great photos of myself and my fiance (and friends and family), but it's going to be expensive to bring the 2 photographers down. I have a feeling that I'll be disappointed if I don't do it though. I'm just not as happy looking at the non-professional photos that friends and family do. I love the candid shots that photographers can get, especially when there are 2 of them shooting. I need to decide soon or my date will be taken again!
  21. Hi, just wanted to throw my 2 cents in. I used to volunteer at a sexual health clinic so have some knowledge about a whole bunch of different methods. Anyways, regarding Alesse, you have to be careful about taking it at the SAME time everyday. Even more careful than other pills. Because it's such a low dose of hormones, you really need to get the next dose in on time. Otherwise, it just really depends on your body how you do on it (like others have said). Re. the IUD, I have also used this method for almost 3 years and LOVE it. I have the copper IUD, so no hormones, which I like and was also the reason I went on it. I was having migraine headaches and this can be dangerous if you're on the pill (the pill can cause your blood vessels to constrict a little and they think that this is one of the causes of a migraine too. It's the same reason they don't recommend you go on the pill if you're a smoker -blood vessel constriction). I maybe have a little bit more cramping than I did before, but just control that on the bad days with some prescribed pain killers. I have not been pregnant and haven't had a problem with expulsion. The insertion was a bit painful, but mostly like a bad cramp. I was a little crampy for the rest of the day and after that was good. It's a great method in my opinon -highly effective (98.75%), can be left in for 5 years (so super cheap) and I hardly ever have to think about it. You ovulate normally, so when I want to get pregnant, the doctor just has to pull it out and we're good to go. Sorry for the long post. This is an area of interest of mine and I like to make sure women have good information to make their decisions. Talk to your doctor of course too!
  22. I'm thinking of joining up too. I've been on a program for awhile now and have lost 20lbs but have been stalled for over a month, so this could be the motivation I need to lose the last 10-15 lbs. I'll think about it some more tonight and then PM Ann if I decide to join. I think that it could be fun. And you girls are so helpful in the wedding planning department, you're probably great in the weight loss deparment too. Was there lots of motivation in the first season? I'm off to read the posts.
  23. I am also a Janurary 2009 ROR bride and thought about the Riu Montego Bay too. I think that for just the 2 of you, it will be a fabulous choice. It will be great to start hearing about new BDW brides booking there and doing their planning. Can't wait for pictures.
  24. I am also getting married at the ROR and considered the Gran Bahia Principe too. The costs of the wedding has been mentioned, but a big negative for us was just the difference in cost to stay there. It was a big (>$200) difference between the Gran Bahia and the ROR. We're going in January so that's a popular time, so it may not be such a big difference when you're going, but that was part of what sealed the deal for us. Also, all the girls on here that have been to the ROR and had such good reviews was very comforting. There's even more brides going over the next year, so lots of help with planning, asking questions etc. Good luck with the decision. You'll feel much better once it's been made!
  25. Congratulations! Glad to hear that you had a great time. Thanks for sharing your review. With each one I read I feel better all the time about going there. Can't wait for pictures!
