Can't wait to hear about it when you get back. Best of luck!

Yari - Congrats on getting legally wed today. We went yesterday to get the marriage license and that's when it started to set in for me. I can't believe it's so close. Brooke - Try not to stress about the resort. I know that's easier said than done. In the end, it won't matter which resort you go to because it will be special regardless. You'll have each other and your closest family and friends there with you. We put so much time into the details and although they do make it nice, at the end of the day, that's not what people (you guys and your guests) will remember. It'll be the people, the emotions, the laughter, the memories with everyone. I try to remind myself of that when I'm stressing over some small detail that no one will probably even notice if I forget or screw up on. I can't believe our time is here. I have my bachelorette party this weekend. My MOH is flying in so I can't wait to pick her up tonite at the airport. We don't see each other that often, but when we do, it's always so much fun. I'm taking today off to workout, get my practice spray tan, go to the jewelers to pick up rings, try to find a place that engraves watches, and clean up the house. I also have the much dreaded music to do. I got a new computer so I need to install Itunes again. I haven't done it cuz it really is a pain. Which playlists are you guys using?

In memory of Dad Poem
dancingdolphin replied to Jackie's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
My mom died from cancer when I was 19. I'm also doing the memory frame and think this would be a great poem to incorporate somehow. Although this wasn't my intention when picking Cancun, it just happens that Cancun was the last place my mom and dad went on vacation before she got sick. My dad is so excited to go back and keeps telling me about things from their trip together (since that was the last time he was there). -

For lost loved ones?
dancingdolphin replied to BachataBride's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
While searching for ceremony raffia fan ideas, I came across this old thread. I thought I would post it here since I thought it was a great idea. Since I lost my mom years ago, I would love to include this poem - just need to do it in a way that doesn't add a sad vibe or worse, makes me cry during the ceremony. http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t1772-2 -

They didn't show up to your destination wedding I would be annoyed with that too, but I hope you didn't let it affect your wonderful day. It's their loss that they missed out.

Thanks for understanding and lending your perspectives. I was so mad yesterday that I just had to vent. Found out last nite that another of FI's friends who did RSVP saying NO asked another friend about the wedding details and is now "thinking" of going. I really can't believe these people. I think it's partly because it is at an all-inclusive that people think we aren't paying for the reception / amt of people that attend. We've had to explain that concept of still paying because it's a private function to FMIL and FSIL. As for not RSVP'ing, I don't expect the wedding to be top priority for the guests, but I consider it common courtesy to send back an RSVP which comes with a pre-paid stamped envelope. Maybe that's just me though... (Obviously I'm still not over this. LOL!)

Hi Everyone, We leave for the wedding on Oct 22nd. Knowing that some people would want to book last minute travel, I put the RSVP on my wedding invite as Sept 19th, knowing that I would have only 3 working weekends till we left (this coming weekend is my bachelorette). This past weekend, I did the seating chart, printed out all the people / table #s and put them in the little picture frames. One thing off my to-do list. I figured it was a week after the RSVP date so anyone who hasn't RSVP'd probably isn't going. WRONG! Last nite, FI gets an email from one of his friends addressed to an unknown receipent list (BCC'd people) saying he just booked his airfare to our wedding and who else wants to go! WTF!?!? If it is just him that ends up going, I have an empty seat at FMIL's table. I'm sure he won't enjoy dinner with FMIL and her friends, but oh well. FI wants me to pull apart another table of friends and put him there and another couple with FMIL. I'm refusing because it's more work, the other couple doesn't know FMIL or her friends either, and why should they be penalized when friend decided 10 days after my RSVP date and 3 wks before we leave. I'm so tired of wedding planning stuff - I just want to be boarding the plane to Mexico now!!!

Hi Girls, Glad I'm not the only one who feels time is flying by. This weekend, I (FI helped on some things) picked up my dress from getting altered, made size tags for the flip flops, made the seating cards for reception, ordered picture frames to put on tables to show table number, ordered FI and Dad's white shirts, ordered gift for MOH and wrote sand ceremony vows. I think that was it - felt like all I did was wedding stuff. Things I can do now are to put music on IPOD of key songs, print and assemble OOT welcome brochure, create table number inserts for frames. Things I am waiting for: pickup rings, legal ceremony at home (marriage license, etc), get spray tan, hair color, hair cut, pedicure before leaving, mail dad shirt & shoes. Next weekend is my bachelorette party so I won't be doing much wedding stuff. Then, only 2 weekends before we leave.

Planning Issues... Need your help...Please!!!
dancingdolphin replied to Marianna's topic in Chit Chat Corner!
Hello, I used destinationweddings.com. I found them before I found this site. I paid $50 upfront and when I booked my travel, the $50 is subtracted from the price so I don't really pay anything extra for their services. They are a travel agent. The travel agent I have is Sam. He was extremely helpful in helping me narrow down the location and the resort. I spent about an hour (sometimes more) on the phone with him during my lunch hour as he explained pros and cons of different locations (at first I was thinking of Jamaica) and different hotel options. He would make suggestions based on what I told him and I'd go off and do my research at nite and report back what I did / didn't like the next day. He would also give me an idea of the price for hotel / air when I was researching sites. He has visited a lot of these results and worked with the wedding coordinators all over, so that was very helpful as well. Once I picked a resort, we used his service so send out save the date postcards as well as sent an email to everyone. Some people reported not receiving the postcards, but I'm not sure if it's cuz they threw them out thinking it was solicitation. The guests don't need to book through him, but most of them did. I was glad to not have to deal with everyone's travel questions as he filtered most of them. Pros: He was very helpful and spent hours and hours answering my questions and helping me pick the resort. He also was very responsive to me. He has a great relationship with the wedding coordinator at my resort and can get things lightning quick from them. I try not to send all my questions through him, but when they don't respond, I ask for his help and it seems to work. He also handled the "know-it-all" guest I had that insisted on getting in the block of rooms (which I didn't get) very well and didn't even bring it to my attention (although FMIL did, even though it was resolved). Also, I couldn't find a cheaper rate on the internet, so I think he did great on pricing. Cons: As for the cons, I found that Sam isn't the most computer literate person. He sometimes seemed to get a little flustered with their computer interface. As a result, I double checked my reservations to make sure he had the right dates, etc. He's also was very talkative so I would have to manage our conversations if I was in a crunch for time and make sure he didn't get off subject. Overall, I would recommend using some type of travel agent so you don't have to deal with all the guests' questions. -
Kat's Review Dreams Cancun 9-7-8
dancingdolphin replied to Kat81's topic in Destination Wedding Reviews
Great review. I'm really sorry to hear about the videographer. I would also be very upset about not having it as FI's grandmother can't make the wedding either. Another small question for you - did they put table numbers on the tables for you or did you have to bring table numbers with you? -

Doesn't sound like we'll need to worry about reservations and eating at 10pm if we don't make them. Sounds like your wedding was awesome. Did you already post your review yet? I really wish I was having a Triple Bahama Mama right now!

Need dress help...please
dancingdolphin replied to SAM's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
Finding the dress is hard. The only advice is that when you try it on, you know it's THE DRESS. I have a hard time finding dresses in general as I don't have much luck at department stores usually. Since you want a simple knee length, have you looked at bridesmaid dresses? Do you know the material and shape of the dress you want (i.e. strapless, halter, a-line, straight, etc)? I would suggest looking through magazines / online to find a designer(s) you like and then go to the store where they are carried. -
Sand ceremony picture frame box

I bought an extra one if you want me to ship it to you in Canda. It was $15 for the frame and I have no clue what shipping will be. If you want me to go to the post office tonite to get a quote, pm me your address. If you want to do something else, no worries. I can always return the extra one. -
Sand Ceremony Frame - HELP

Umbra Ether Frame I've been researching what to do for the sand ceremony as well. I was about to not do it because I'm scared I can't fit a vase and sand in my suitcase and transporting it back would be a problem. (FI is already asking how we're going to fit everything in the luggage whenever he sees another box being delivered!) I like the idea of a picture frame though. Do you know how the other girl filled it with sand and if it was easy, did it leak out, etc? I have a Kohls around the corner from work. I will go there tomorrow after work to look for it. Hopefully they have it in the store. If they do, did you want me to get it and ship it to you? I've never shipped to Canada, so I'll have to figure out if there is anything special. Let me know. For those already married at DC, did you tip the WC, officiant, videographer, hair / makeup person, etc? If so, how much did you give? I'm trying to determine how much money we need to bring down there. Afterall, can't really put the tip on the credit card. I did a previous search and found results from $0 to 15%-20%. I'm not sure what's customary in Mexico at an all inclusive. Thanks!!

Wanted: Sand for Sand Ceremony
dancingdolphin replied to teacherbride's topic in Buy / Sell / Trade Archives
This may be a silly question, but how is everyone transporting the vase with the sand back? It seems like it would be difficult, even in carry-on luggage. I would hate for it to get mixed more and look terrible. -

Yes, the fabric was the same. I didn't notice a difference, but I didn't have them side by side. It was definitely high quality fabric. The other thing I want to mention is that I sent my measurements with a little wiggle room in case it was made a tiny bit smaller and they made the dress very exact to the measurements I sent. I was just very nervous of getting it and it being too small. I highly recommend them.
