Life is great (usually), and I am really excited to start planning our wedding. I'm looking forward to getting to know you guys better, and get a bunch of advice and ideas from you all! I'm loving this forum already, you all seem awesome!! ;-) Hi Jamie We have a couple things in common. Me and my FI has been together for 9 years and we are geting married May 30, 2009 at Dreams Cancun. You definitely have to let me know how everything goes when you get back. There is a lot of info here, you will definitely get a lot of answers to your questions. Keep me updated on your progress
  4. Welcome. You will get a lot of info here
  5. thanks for the list. This will help me out when I get started
  6. Sarah Sounds like great ideas. Where is a good place to get that stuff from? Should I check Michael's or JoAnn's Fabrics?
  7. I am using the pocket folder for my invites. Does anyone have any ideas for embellishments other than ribbons? Here is a pic of folder I am using and color. My colors are brown, coral and cream.
  8. Welcome back. Can't wait to hear more about wedding. Don't forget to post pics
  9. Here are some pics I found on the web. You can change out colors and flowers
  10. thanks for great info. If I send them out in May, do you think I will still need STD?
  11. Hey Everyone My wedding is not until May 2009 but everyone is requesting info now bc of work and finances. Would it be too early to send out invites in May and then after I recieve responses send out newsletter or update? I was thinking that about 10 months is enough time. Of course some family members do not agree with DW so I really want to make sure I give them enough time.
  12. I am also going to make necklaces with fake diamond (of course) on there for everyone to recieve to wear when the enter. If anyone says the word wedding, it is taken from them by the person that heard it. The person with the mose necklaces at the end of the party gets a gift. I played this at a baby shower with safety pins, and it was so much fun

I think it will be great bc you are able to do it your own way.

My mom got those for our stockings at Christmas. That might be a fun thing to do at the party! We had a really small family party and I gave out my travel brochures to introduce everyone to our destination and gave luggage tags as favors. The brochures were free from the travel agent. My TA is actually working on geting some brochures, I will make sure to pass out at the party. Where did you get luggage tags from. Oriental Trading has some that are really reasonable, but was hoping to find other choices I am so glad there are books out here for that! I am going to check it out thanks for your help

She had people make toasts, since most of her family can't come to the wedding. And we played a game where they blind folded me and had 5 or 6 guys roll up there pants leg and I had to guess which leg was FI's leg. Also did a questions game where she asked me and FI a list of questions ahead of time about our self then at the party we had to answer the question about the other person. I got all the ?s correct about FI, he got 9/10 wrong about me.... hmmmm....go figure. She also had a photog friend of hers come and take pics which everyone had a good time posing for. She gave out favors, but i can't remember what they were, if it comes to me i'll repost. I think as long as the food and drinks are good people will have a good time! I love the blind fold game. I will add that to my game list. I would like to do about 2-3 games. My friend has a polaroid camera and I was thinking to take pics of people when they arrive and have them sign scrapbook next to their pic as a keepsake. Of group of us got togeher for newlywed game and my FI got a lot og questions wrong. I am so glad it was not for money, we would have lost

We bbq'd beef, chicken, chorizo sausage and shrimp, all on skewers, we had two large bowls of salad, Mexican rice, and vegetable trays. We had a cake made that had a Mexican theme, and we had fresh fruit, ice cream, and cheese and crackers. I put together a quiz type of game which was great and got the many different groups of people interacting. It was basically a list of questions that I asked the groom ahead of time, then asked the bride the day of the party. Guests had to guess if she's know the answers or not. The rest of the questions were related to weddings and customs around the world. I can figure out a way to post it as an attachment if anyone is interested. You can see some pictures here Engagement Pictures from Cheryl pictures from friends & fun photos on webshots It was a lot of work, but I'm glad I did it. Chris (the groom) and my other daughter's boyfriend, are both trained chefs, so that helped alot. I would be glad to answer any other questions you might have. Thanks Helen I love the idea of Mexican fiesta! It will go great with having a wedding in Mexico. Why didn't I think of that I am going to talk it over with my FI to see what he thinks. I wish you were my Mom too! Really haven't had much help with planning. I also love the game, I will definitely use it for my party I am so excited. can't wait to hear mor ideas
