I have my heart set on LC and that's where we're going to do it. I think, in the end, we will be happily surprised at how many people actually show up. I am back to being insanely, ridiculously, euphorically excited about being a Las Caletas bride! The economy does suck right now...but what could be less romantic than planning one of the biggest days of our lives around Capitol Hill?... Not gonna do it. And you know what? There are always going to be people who complain. It's human nature and an area in which my family specializes in (kidding). I know they'll be happy on the day of and that's what counts. That is a great attitude to have! Sounds like your heart is set on LC...and so that is where I think you should have your wedding. Also I don't think it is possible to EVER make EVERYONE happy. even if you had your wedding in your hometown there would still probably be people that would not be happy with the location, decorations, invitations, etc, etc. and that is just how people are! It is your day and you should have the wedding of your dreams!...wherever that may be!

She likes the pocketfolds, but is wanting to know if they can really come out that great making them myself. I am wanting pictures of pocketfolds you girls have done, so I can show her that it's possible and give her some ideas. Thanks girls! here is a link to the pocketfolds that i did... they turned out well and my guests really liked them! http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t31934
  12. well said Jamie You are right with the economy in the crapper right now we too are seeing our guest list decrease. Initially we thought maybe 35-40 guests but now that has been cut in half just because people can't afford it. My FI and I are completley ok with the list getting smaller...we are going to have a big 'ol backyard BBQ for EVERYONE when we get back home...we are perfectly content with the possiblity of a just a few close friends and family in Mexico!

My fiance and I are putting the deposit down today for our Nov. 7-09 wedding at Las Caletas (if we can get in touch with Nicole...she's a busy girl). After getting off the phone with my mom today I discovered that she's really, really upset that we're planning a wedding in Mexico. With the economy as horrendously ugly as it is right now she doesn't think that anyone will be able to show up and that we will end up being heartbroken over paying a lot of money for less than 10 guests. So..because she's my mother..she has put serious doubts in my mind. How many people showed up for you? What price do people consider acceptable for travel and airfare packages? Ugh. This is so frustrating. We haven't been able to get travel details hammered out yet because agents are telling us that airlines don't release flights until 11 months prior to the travel date. I know that the main focus shouldn't be about the wedding (blahblah) but the marriage but I am really stressed out. Go figure, a stressed out bride to be. Any suggestions? Hey There, I know she is your mom, BUT I think it is important to plan your wedding as you and your FI want to. If you are truly set on a DW wedding in Mexico then that is what you should do. If you are ok with the possibility of less than 10 guests attending then go for it! Remember in the end it is your day (you and your FI). I know it can be frustrating in the beginning...a year out is a long time to plan ahead. I too booked LC about a year out and airfare and hotel prices were not yet available. In the beginning for us I think my parents were very hesitant about having the wedding in Mexico but the more I talked to them about how sure I was of what I wanted they came around and are pretty excited now. Just to "show" them that everything will be just fine when we get down to Mexico, I invited my parents to go with me next month on our site visit...that way their minds will be more at ease come wedding time in April.
  14. wow everything looks great! I love how you incorporated your logo into so many different things! Have fun!
  15. I am an LC bride too! but not until April....this forum has been a total life saver...not sure what I would have done without it! Any questions...just ask!

Silly question but how did you close it? Glue? I am challenged. Any help is appreciated. Thanks! Many people have done this on here. It looks like this: Hey that is my invite! Here is what I did to close it all together. I used the vertigo pocketfolds from cards and pockets. where you see the ribbon is where the invite actually opens. 1.) first I glued the small pink square mat to the actual pocketfold but only glued it half way on. 2.)then I cut the ribbon long enough to go just around the invite and layed it on top of the pink square and actually secured that with a small sized zot (glue dot) 3.) next I took my white square and glued it on top of the pink mat and ribbon. 4) to close the ribbon around the back i took another zot and secured the ribbon together in the back. seemed to work well. I think some people weren't sure how to open because they didnt' want to ruin the invite or anything. but they opened just fine if you just pull the ribbon apart from the back let me know if you have any other questions...

Here are the BIG things we still have to do: - order both of our wedding bands - Get FI's wedding attire - Get my veil and accessories - book our "honeymoon" hotel - find a dog sitter while we are gone! - arrange transportation for guests from airport to hotel
  18. Hey Katherine! We are date twins! Early on...Azul Sensatori was one of our top picks! it looks like it is going to be a great hotel! welcome to the forum!

Can anyone with experience with both comment on how they compare at that time of year (late Oct/early Nov) in terms of temperature, HUMIDITY and price (not as worried about rains or hurricanes). We are trying to balance the best weather with the best prices! Thanks in advance! (And this is the best wedding forum website out there - and I have looked at A LOT - thanks for everyone who makes it such a valuable resource!) Jamie In all honesty we chose PV over RM because we just couldn't find a resort/location that offered everything we were looking for. If you are planning for a fall wedding I would take into consideration the hurricanes in the Atlantic. I think hurricane season "officially" runs to the end of November? In all reality I think whether it is PV or RM you both just have to really like the place and what it offers for your day. Have you ever traveled to either place?
  20. wow those are so pretty! I can't wait to see the rest!
  21. so pretty! I love the one of you two laughing in the hammock! Ok well not just that one...but that was one of my favorites!
  22. Hey that is pretty cool! So do I have to wait until after Jan. 20th to send the invite? or will I still receive something from Obama if I send it now?
  23. Tara those turned out great! I know before you left you had concerns about trashing your wedding dress because of the material right? you thought it would be see through? Looks like everything turned out just fine!

I'm not very crafty, so is this something you think even the least artistic could do? Did you do all the wording/designs on powerpoint? Any special printer? Sorry for all the ?s but I'm on a time crunch, but I'd love to do something like you did. It makes it all the more personal for your guests. Thanks Andi!! Sure I would be happy to help! I actually ordered all of the paper at the end of August but I did not really start to work on them until about 2 weeks ago! Trust me...I AM NOT CRAFTY either! I did do all of my designs in powerpoint, it was actually pretty easy. the hardest part was getting the measurements right for them to all slide into the pocketfold just right. I did not use any special printer...just my mom's HP...I was pleasantly surprised on how they printed actually! So far my guests LOVE them...they just cannot believe that I actually made them! I have all of my templates and such, if you would like me to I can email them to you. Just PM me and let me know! If by chance you decide to do your own and use the cardandpockets.com vertigo style pocketfold then you can totally just use my templates and switch it with all of your info! By the way what are the colors you are thinking of using?
