  1. awww welcome back Reese78 glad to hear all went well! I think it is so funny how this thread went dead mid-month because we were all too busy with our weddings! I too have been back for a couple of days and settling back into the "real world". I have to admit...we had an AWESOME wedding and now I have a fabulous hubby BUT I am really sad that it is all over with I spent so much time working on anything and everything related to the wedding now with all of this "free time" i am not quite sure I know what to do with myself! Luckily though one of my friends is getting married in June and she has asked for my help with fun DIY projects...that will keep me busy for awhile i suppose! Can't wait to see everyones pics!!!!!
  2. hahaha ok! deal...then we will do it again for sure after your wedding!
  3. I'm still in! Really? more denver girls on here now?! awesome let's meet up! Erika...even just you and I would be awesome!

  5. For sure put an RSVP or book by date on all of your invites and such...also i would put that date about 2 weeks ahead of what the date really is that they have to book their rooms by, just to give yourself a sort of cushion.... but be warned we had people book 5 days before we left!!!!!!!!!!! argh...you can read all about my frustration here...not trying to scare you...just give you a heads up! http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t40149

The only reason I ask is that I talked to Nicole on Friday (5/1) and she mentioned that she had to drive somewhere to get papers or something for the wedding on sat....i am guessing that was yours?! awesome can't wait to hear about it! Also on another note...yes everyone I am a SLACKER! we have been back since saturday and I don't have any pics yet! I am hoping to get some loaded tonight...also my review too...it is started but is SOOOO long and i need to cut it down a bit because I dont want to bore you guys! so should have it all tonight!
  8. awww Kristy thanks! I just had SO MUCH FUN with Kristi and Paul and couldn't wait to tell someone...so I thought of you! I am however a total slacker now...we have been home for 2 days and I have no pics or reviews yet!!!!!!!!!! aaaaaaagh I am going crazy about the pics though...I need to get some today from my mom's camera. and reviews of EVERYTHING are on the way I promise!!!! Oh but Kristy, in all honesty....I know you had posted a thread awhile back about your mom not liking the TTD idea at all, mine was the SAME way....I couldn't even mention it to my mom without her covering her ears! well by the end of the reception the bottom of my dress was so dirty anyway from just walking around my mom told me FINALLY that she was just over it and was fine with the TTD (little did she know I was going to do it anyway ) So jumping in the pool in my wedding dress was SO FUN! I highly recommend it! I seriously couldn't stop laughing! my mom watched and laughed too I also recommend using your wedding dress, as long as you are 100% ok with it! Jumping in the pool actually really cleaned the bottom of my dress pretty well! I think I mentioned to you too already that Kristi has a new underwater camera...so if you are ok with it...DO IT! And KLK and Blue Sky (Kristi and Paul) they are just AMAZING!!!!! I have a review coming on them too...don't worry ALL GOOD, they are just such nice people and so easy to work with!!!!!!

HAVE AN AWESOME TIME!!!!! hey...my bags are still packed can I come with you? my clothes are a bit dirty but I am sure I can get laundry done at the Moon Palace Trust me...you shouldn't worry about us here in the US...the MAIN reason I tried to keep you all updated as much as possible while we were in Mexico was because the outbreak was happening right as we were down there so I was hoping to be able to bring some kind of calm to all of you brides just getting ready to leave...that and our family was freaking just as they were returning home and we were still in Mex, so I was trying to keep updated on really what was happening! Jaime, really don't stress about it too much! let me see if i can find info on what they are considering a high temp. mind you I was kind of worried as Reggie had a bit of a head cold for the last 4 days we were there...he was fine. my temp was 36 Celsius...honestly not sure what that is in Fahrenheit...let me do some looking around and see what I can find
  10. Hi Everyone....DH and I are back safe in the US today (Booooo! I wasn't ready to leave PV ) Anyway, just wanted to share some details of the PV airport and what was happening there. As I reported earlier in the week we did go into downtown PV one night, I think Wednesday and all was fine, sure there were a few wearing masks but really nothing out of the ordinary at all. At the airport yesterday, before you were allowed to proceed to your airline check-in counter ALL passengers had to fill out an extra form. the form basically said who are you, where have you been, where are you going, how do you feel (body aches, fever, yadda yadda). Then you got into a line and had to have your temperature taken by a doctor that they had there. now don't freak by this...it really was nothing at all! the thermometer was one they just put close to your forehead and the temp popped out on it within seconds. the dr. wrote your temp down and then you had to take the form to another lady who reviewed everything (very quickly mind you) and then stamped it and sent you on your marry way. this whole extra process took us an extra 10 minutes max when we checked in. so when DH and I arrived at the airport we were directed where to go to get this extra form right away and it really was easy and smooth. however as we were then waiting in line for our airline to check in, DH noticed there were a TON of people without the form (which you had to have to check in) and nobody was telling you needed the form until you reached the ticket counter. so he proceeded to go down our entire line and the one next to ours (all americans of course) and make sure they had their form because he felt bad that people were waiting in line and they didn't have their form and he didn't want them to wait and then be sent to the back. I just laughed at him while he was doing this...it was good for us actually because about 6 people that were ahead of us had to get out of line so our wait was less! so the airport was pretty busy yesterday and as we checked in and walked to our gate I noticed that really not a lot people were wearing masks, including the airline employees. our guess was that maybe 1 in every 40 or 50 had a mask on. on our flight as people were getting on board I counted 5 people (out of 132 which the plane held) that had the masks on. what I for the life of me couldn't understand is that these people had their masks on in the terminal and when they got on the plane but then once they sat down they took the masks off! correct me if i am wrong but doesn't that defeat the purpose? anyway that was just odd to me so we are back and really I just wanted to report that all is fine in mexico, we had no problems at all! i do get to stay home tomorrow too! my work is making me...crazy i know, as there are still no confirmed cases in Jalisco and Nayarit (where we came from in Mexico) but yet there are at least 2 in Denver! whatever...i am not going to put up a stink about being able to stay home! I have wedding reviews and pics to post!
  11. ok, one more thing from me for today I hope some of you get a laugh out of this like I am right now.... So I just found out that a couple of days ago, the HR lady at my work issued a company wide announcement about employees traveling internationally during this pandemic...i haven't seen it yet but it but from some other people from my work told me this morning is that basically I am being forced to stay home (work from home) for 2 days when I get back to the US, yes paid and all! apparently they are worried i might bring the crud back so they are "quarintining" me! i am not the only one in mexico right now either...one other co-worker of mine is in cancun right now too! so he will be "quarintined" as well! yes, I might bring it back...but it is soo freakin funny to me that they are freaked about it this much!!! again there are no confirmed cases in PV but now there are 2 in Denver....um aren't my chances of getting/having it way worse if i were in Denver?! so i apparently can't go back to work until next wednesday! good news for you all too, hopefully while at home i will be able to get you pics and get my reviews done!!!!!!!!!!
  12. Hey guys, I am double crossing my fingers hoping that all of this passes soon so that you all with weddings soon can go back to planning the fun stuff! Anyway, DH and I are still in PV and I wanted to give you a quick report from down here in Mexico..... we were suppose to leave today but have decided to stay one more day b/c we are just having too much FUN!!!! seriously our resort is practically empty! there was maybe 15 other hotel guests that we saw yesterday, we just kept running into the same people over and over again we did go into town on wednesday night and really nothing out of the ordinary at all this is really hurting the economy down here...everything just has to be losing so much money because of it. there are still no confirmed cases in Jalisco or Nayarit ( the states that PV is in) i don't think our parents were excited when we called them last night and said we are staying hee hee hee hee! oh well we figure we are down here already and probably won't be on vacation again for at least another 6 mos or so! when i called the airline to change our tickets the guy laughed at me (i think he knew i had had a few cervezas) and said that i was the only one who he had talked to today that actually wanted to extend!!!!!! and they waived our change fees and all that because they are doing that for everyone with mexico tickets (at least Frontier Airlines is doing that) !!!!!!!!!!!! anyway, hang in there...try to keep informed of the situation but also remember the american media is really hyping this!!!
  13. Hey guys, my thoughts and well wishes for great weddings are with you all! I know that DH and I are in a bit of a different situation because we are now the only ones here in PV (our last few guests are leaving today on the flights they were scheduled to originally leave on). So we have already had our wedding and are now just here in Mexico on our honeymoon. I can't imagine being at home days before leaving with all of our guests and this be happening. Although, when we arrived a week ago...it was already happening, granted i realized it has gotten much worse in mexico city. anyway...everything is fine at the resorts!!!! DH and I haven't left our resort yet but that is because we are having too much fun relaxing here! I can report though, that at the airports some, SOME people are wearing masks...at least that iswhat my parents reported back to us yesterday Quote: Originally Posted by SunBride Honestly, maybe I am sounding naive and insensitive but if it was me I would put a mask on for the flight and I'd be there in a second! And 99% of those who contract it will probably just be sick for a few days and then be fine. It would not stop me from attending somebody else's wedding. I think only people with weak immune systems (children, seniors, anyone who already has pre-existing medical conditions) should be concerned. Perhaps I am being naive but that is my opinion. Sunbride, honestly I couldn't agree with you more!!!! I might be naive too but we are in PV now and have not seen anything nor do DH and I feel unsafe at all... the media has literally scared a lot of people away so our resort is practically empty Quote: Originally Posted by droland03 Hello PV Brides, Is anyone concerned about traveling to Mexico due to the swine flu outbreak? But I guess thats it... I am just going to wait it out and see what happens. what a great attitude!!!!!!! I would be trying to stay positive too...I am crossing my fingers that everything will work out fine for all! Whether your wedding is planned for Mexico, Hawaii, Japan, Australia, the moon, it doesn't matter...these things can happen anywhere, at any time...keep your immune system strong by eating healthy, exercising, getting enough sleep, and most importantly not stressing out. Good luck ladies Agreed!!!!!!!!!!!! it is concentrated in mexico city, far away from the resort beach towns... oh PV brides, read this....since we are here in PV now we are trying to stay as updated as possible just in case Puerto Vallarta/Jalisco Swine Flu Updates So nightclubs and discos are closed as a precaution but there are still NO confirmed cases in Jalisco!
  14. hey guys, me again...I honestly havent read all of the posts from today since i last posted here...but again... DH AND I ARE IN MEXICO RIGHT NOW...and we are totally fine...we still have 2 friends down with us, the rest left today...and have made it back to Denver just fine. DH and I changed hotels (which was all planned) we moved from Vallarta Palace in Nuevo Vallarta to Casa Velas in Puerto Vallarta..we have not seen one person here, local or native freaking out or wearing a mask or anything. we did have 2 guests who left today say that might ask for amask on the flight back but they were not freaked about it all. really, the resorts are DEAD...so we have the entire resort basically to ourselves. now, i am not saying it is totally safe here but we are taking precautions...we may not go totown and just hang out in the resort, and stuff like that... BUT really from what we have seen...the US media is making this WAY worse than it really is...trust me we are here in Mexico right now!!!!! and i am not freaked at all!!! from what i have seen tourist zones are fine...again though we have not been to the airport at all here...i will have areport later though about our families experience leaving mexico today.... just be calm all...seriously the media is really hyping this...
  15. oh also... I read a couple of posts about some of you guys postponing your weddings... Honestly, in my HONEST opinion...if I were you I would not do this...now again, it all is case by case but think about the hotels you are booked at, are the nice or are you right in the city? that might affect some decisions...but really if you are a week or two weeks out...I wouldn't cancel or postpone...I just thought back and put myself in your shoes...If this news broke a week before our departure...I wouldn't have changed any of my plans...seriously our wedding was just too AWESOME to have postponed it!!!!!!!!!!!!!! PS - Flu outbreak or no flu outbreak...we (and all of our guests) are having an AMAZING AMAZING trip!!!!!!!!
  16. Hey Everyone, I hope i can settle you guys a bit. We are in PV right now for our honeymoon and have been here since last wednesday with all of our guests so I am hoping to provide a different perspective on this. yes, I know I am on my honeymoon on BDW but in my defense, DH is snoring next to me now and I drank a huge cup of coffee for some reason right before bed so I can't sleep at the moment. ANYWAY...all this news started breaking on our wedding day and we were (including all of our guests) pretty much oblivious to it all going on. It wasn't until Saturday that I caught wind of it when one of our guest's MIL left a FRANTIC phone message for them at the hotel in a total panic (her MIL was at home in the US). so bit by SLOW bit we have been getting informed of what is going on, the SLOW bit part is only because we honestly were not freaked out about it all. So that was it for hearing about it Saturday...Sunday morning (as about 1/2 of our guests were getting ready to depart...I heard someone mention that Obama had just issued his warning or what not. Again though...NOBODY, not our guests, not other hotel guests...NOBODY has been freaking about it...everyone down here has been carrying with their vacay's as normal (again from what I can tell). So sunday mid morning, DH and I turned on CNN and watched some coverage on it...I told DH that I was not going to worry about it because well we are here already and there isjust no need to freak. So we watched the news and listened to the symptoms (to keep an eye out for them) and the precautions that we should be taking and after about 5 minutes of that we went to the pool...ALL AS NORMAL! Honestly we only had just this one guest tell us (and all of our other guests about it) and really it was NO BIG DEAL. now mind you we are at an all inclusive nice hotel as are most of our guests, they really didn't leave (except for the wedding) to go into to town or anything, but my parents and aunts did go to downtown PV and I didn't hear any reports back of anything crazy relating to this going on. So like I said now 1/2 of our guests are gone, most will be leaving Mexico today and we will be here until Friday. None of our guests have had any freakouts about it...and if they did DH and I were prepared to calm them. Also for PV brides, I did just find this posted from yesterday No Cases of Swine Flu Reported in Jalisco - Update so this is good news too. DH and I did visit the beachtown of Bucerias yesterday and some shops were closed but I am 99% sure that was due to the fact that it was Sunday at 5 or 6pm...we did not see anything in that town where people seemed to be stressing there either...that including the locals. Ok, I am being long winded...but basically we are in Mexico right now with this massive outbreak and really just not freaked (including our guests...they are all more worried about cervezas and margaritas! ). we will be now more cautious and wash our hands a TON more...i have been carrying sanitizer in my beach bag anyway! We may not eat some meats and be cautious with that stuff too. We have been SUPER busy with wedding stuff since we arrived and today actually starts our real honeymoon...so we will carry on as honeymooners and should something happen we will cross that bridge when and IF it does. Again...I think others have said it on here too...it is spreading and already in the US and Canada so IMO you can get this virus really anywhere at this point!
