  1. Welcome! We're always glad to have moms on here! My daughter got married May 20, 2008 at El Dorado Royale in Mexico. I'm now helping her best friend with her wedding in Kauai in September. Let us know if we can help you in any way, and have fun helping your daughter!
  2. Wow, Maura! What a lucky man Jose is - he'll be speechless when he sees you in your dress. Beautiful!
  3. Gorgeous photos - I love the orange BM dresses. You looked beautiful, and the beach pics are amazing. Congrats!
  4. As a Mom, I was in charge of the OOT bags - buying everything (after getting Mandy's final approval), packing and hauling the stuff and then completing the bags when we arrived in Mexico. It was really fun for me to do, I enjoyed it, and it was one less thing Mandy had to stress about. I also made really nice welcome books to add to the bags: http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t22106 Also, another way to get your mom involved is to have her sign up for BDW. Mandy recommended BDW to me, and we both have loved being on the forum together. Plus, I found so many great ideas on here for the OOT bags, books, fans, etc., and Mandy and I are always talking about forum stuff even now after the wedding. There are quite a few moms on the forum, so she might really enjoy all the wedding talk.
  5. Have they compared the price of an AI room at EDR to another resort plus the $72+ day pass plus the roundtrip taxi costs? There might not be as much of a savings as they would think by staying somewhere ese. All of my daughter's guests stayed at EDR because everyone wanted to be together. There was always someone to ride bikes, karaoke, swim, and eat with. Plus, everyone loved the rooms, food and service.
  6. Well, I was like your FI and didn't mind my husband seeing the dress beforehand as I wasn't superstitious. Actually, I tried it on a couple of times as it was being made and altered to get his opinion. (I know, unconventional.) On the day of the wedding, he acted like he'd never seen it before and thought it was the most beautiful dress he'd ever seen. We've been happily married 31 years, so no dress voodoo!

  8. My daughter's guests were able to stay at EDR for $1864 per couple for 7 nights, plus airfare of about $518 apiece. This made it $1450 apiece for 7 nights, however, most people stayed just 4 nights so the cost for them was $1050 per person, including airfare.
  9. We made OOT bags for my daughter's wedding and my daughter & her DH met everyone as they arrived at the resort to welcome them and give them the bags. Since everyone arrived at different times, it was really nice to be able to greet them, thank them for coming with the OOT bag, and walk them though the check-in process. If they had to wait for their room, we would go eat with them at a beachside restaurant. Everyone used the beach bags all week long. I agree that no one at all was expecting to receive anything, so you aren't obligated to do it, but it was a fun way to thank them for coming, and frankly we had more fun making the OOT bags than anything else we did for the wedding. Ours cost about $10 per person or $20 per bag.

  11. Yep, I keep remembering some funny ones. Then, as I go back and read through the thread, I'm laughing as much as I did the first time. Keep up the good work, girl!
  12. Here's some of my favorite Morganisms: Are you going to try to get all of our moms to join the forum and talk about their sex lives? my mom doesn't have internet during the summer. I loved getting a pile of blue cranes last week. If people say they were too busy I get so annoyed. He just thought I was weird. Tack Daddy? Return of the Tack. Tacky McTackerson. Nope, Senora Tackmaster is the best. My old place was way too jungly. I was going to say the same sneaky thing. Woo Hoo drunk mexico shopping. I was a little sweaty this morning.
  13. I guess when I wouldn't leave, they had to call me something! There is a whole new batch of EDR brides now who are asking lots of questions and asking for advice. You were so helpful to Mandy, and I know you've got lots of wisdom for all the other girls! We're glad to have you back!

I read differently, but I got her name and id# just in case! Yes, that is correct: There is no baggage fee if your'e flying internationally on American. *None of the airlines count Canada as an international destination, and Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands, being American territories, don't count either. But MEXICO is counted as international. You're still smart to check with your airlines as policies change frequently. Now, at least, you know how much luggage you can take with all your wedding stuff!
  15. Jennifer, just viewed your photos and they are awesome! Congrats and thanks for sharing!
