Vanessa's email is [email protected]. Also, just for your info, I just picked up a 20 x 24 of my daughter's wedding that I had ordered from the CD we received from Vanessa. The lab said it was very clear and a good photo to work with, and it turned out great. We also got lots of the 4 x 6's, but the 20 x 24 enlargement was the one I was concerned about regarding quality, and I was very happy with it.

I just ordered a photobook from Shutterfly with pictures of my parents' 50th anniversary celebration - Morgan's photobook was my inspiration and gave me the confidence to try it. (Yes, Morgan, I'm STILL "borrowing" your ideas!) My parents loved it and have about worn it out looking at it! As Morgan said, the pages are thick and the quality is great. I chose to use the photo cover. I do wish there was an option to design your own pages in addition to using their templates for inserting pictures. There are many backgrounds to choose from, but by the time I chose them for all the pages, I was wishing for more.

Could all your guests hear the ceremony despite if it was windy or whatever?! Thanks! The sound was very good for the ceremony, and it was very windy when we were there. The minister had a hand mic that she used, then she would pass it to the bride and groom as they spoke their vows. As long as you hold it close to your mouth, you could hear everything really well. When Mandy's grandpa started to read the hand ceremony, he wasn't holding it very close, so I told him to "eat the mic" and everything was ok. Also, the recorded music was loud and clear as they have large speakers set up.

There are several versions of the sand ceremony here on the forum. You can have someone in your family or wedding party do the ceremony for you. My daughter, Mandy, didn't do the sand one, but she did do the hand ceremony (which we also got here on the forum). She had her grandpa read it and it was really touching.

I agree - #1 looks like a good, basic machine and has everything you would need. I don't use the fancy stitches on my machine, either. Plus, on #1, you can take off the area surrounding the needle bed so you can sew in small tight places, like sleeves. Also, if you sign up online at Joann's, they will send you coupons for % off.

DJ Jeff, maybe from now on we should all send our posts to you first for your editing and pre-approval.

I posted this because my daughter returned from a wedding of a BDW bride, Rachel and Chris, on Kauai in September. The 33 year-old woman that drowned was Chris's best friend from childhood. That family already had a trip to Kauai planned before the wedding and, unfortunately, were unable to attend Rachel and Chris's wedding one month earlier. There are several brides still planning to be married on Kauai, and they need to know the dangers of the waves and riptides. This is not "nasty news and views", it is possibly life-saving information.

Three visitors drowned in two separate incidents Sunday afternoon near Queen’s Bath in Princeville and Kaua‘i Sands in Kapa‘a and a fourth person drowned yesterday morning while swimming at Hanakapi‘ai Beach, marking the fourth drowning death in two days on Kaua‘i as the season’s first major north swell rolled in. Kris and Adrienne, I just sent you both the templates for the books. -
My daughter and her DH bought the Bose portable docking station and carryon bag (you'll definitely want this - it makes it so easy to take with you). It worked great - her reception/dance was outside by the beach and we could hear the music loud and clear. (They had recorded several hours of music onto their Ipod beforehand.) Also, they then had the use of it the entire week in their room, which she said they really enjoyed. They just returned from another trip in Hawaii and that was the one "must-have" that they carried on with them.

We've been to Mexico many many times, plus Nicaragua, the Caribbean, etc. and had never, EVER gotten sick until my daughter's wedding in May. We believe we had some of the bad jalapeno peppers (originally thought it was the tomatoes) that caused the large outbreak of illness in Mexico and the U.S. We took immodium like it was candy and it had no effect on us. We were sick for 13 days. You can be as careful as possible and still end up with something, but your guests' chances of becoming sick are small. Worrying about it won't help. I'd even printed out info about how lime juice is supposed to be a cure-all - didn't work! We still had a wonderful time, just couldn't eat anything and actually ended up losing weight at an all-inclusive gourmet resort.

Our old Boston, Rocky, would bump something with the side of his head and his eye would deflate and look shrunken. The vet would put a dissolvable contact on it that protected his eye while it healed. This happened several times before he died.

OK, Mandy is back but her internet is not working, so I'll post what she told me. She said the gardens are beautiful. (She has photos we can post, but will have to wait until the internet is fixed.) However, she said that unless you have a private luau, she personally wouldn't want to do that for her reception. There are at least 350 people at the luau and all are served through a buffet line. Tables are dismissed to fill their plates one by one, so it could take a while for your party to get through. She said the food was good, but the show was disappointing. Many people they talked to had gone to a luau on Maui and said this one didn't even come close to comparing. Others in their party went to the luau at the Princeville resort. It was at least $30 more a person. I also don't know if it will be available in February 09 due to renovations.

Yay, Kathi! May you have the wedding of your dreams and live happily ever after! -
The renovations will start Sept. 19 and go through the spring. I believe you'll have to book elsewhere during that time as all dates I entered say they are unavailable. Here is what the website says (http://www.princevillehotelhawaii.com): Announcement The Princeville Resort will be under construction starting September 19, 2008. The Princeville Resort will be re-branded as The St. Regis Princeville Resort in Spring, 2009. Should you need any assistance please contact us at 808-826-9644. You may book the new The Westin Princeville Ocean Resort Villas or the beautiful Sheraton Kauai Resort located on the south shore of the island.

Welcome! New Zealand is high on our list of "must-see" locations. Congrats!

My daughter, Mandy, is in Kauai right now attending a wedding, and they went to the luau at Smith's. I'll remind her to post her thoughts when they return.
