  1. Welcome to the forum Ana. Good luck with planning!
  2. We got engaged on our 1 year anniversary. But...we were friends for 3 years before we began dating.
  3. Ladies I am back. So from our choices we've narrowed it down to 2 places: 1. Paradisus Punta Cana 2. Caleton Beach at Cap Cana Why we eliminated the others: 1. EdenH - We were booked for this hotel while we were there on site visits. We left this hotel after the first night. Not a good experience for us. Too many bumps for one night. I'll give you ladies just a quick summary: I was walking around my room in the NUDE and a grounds worker was on my balcony painting. Mind you I was on the 3rd Floor and then he refused to leave bc he had to complete the work(just an fyi...there was no language barrier, I am dominican and can speak the language). Then our toilet didn't work, so they switched our rooms. That toilet didn't work. Dinner reservations is/was a nightmare. We were told the restaurants were booked until Sunday (it was Thursday). So our choice of dinner was Buffet. Buffet for breakfast/lunch/and dinner. Oh and you're only allowed to eat the restaurant once. So if you're really like the food enjoy it then bc you can't have it again. 2. Riu Palace- This is where we stayed for the rest of our vacation. Beautiful grounds. All the brides getting married here you definitely have a great place/wedding to look forward to. The wedding coordinator Magnolia is really nice and accommodating. Why we didn't choose this place? The ceremony locations are not private nor big enough for our guests. Yes, the beach is available but not private. Also, the restaurant that can accommodate our 100+ guest is the Steakhouse. My fiancee and I are huge carnivoures and we were not pleased with the dinner. As for the other restaurants..they were GREAT!!! But they can only accommodate 30 guests. Our final decision will be based on estimates given to us from our wedding coordinator who is based in Santo Domingo. So my job now is to compile everything I want and send it off to her. So my planning has begun somewhat Later... ~Giselle

I guess being nervous comes from not wanting to be disppointed. Excited bc I will hopefully be able to put my mind at ease. I'm driving my FH crazy. I show him my ideas and then change my mind almost weekly. He does not want to hear anything about the wedding until we choose a location. No wedding talk, hmmm...
  5. We use Save the Date Magnets, Wedding Announcements, Custom Wedding Invitations and Baby Announcements - Pioneer Color. They were really great with our requests and we received them in about 6 business days. -Giselle

  7. oops...forgot the details Purchased the magnets at Save the Date Magnets, Wedding Announcements, Custom Wedding Invitations and Baby Announcements - Pioneer Color. I had them change the colors around to our wedding theme. Once I received them, I felt they needed a little more so I went shopping at my new favorite store Michaels. BTW, I LOVE Martha Stewart. The outside cover consist of: 1. Brown metallic cardstock 2. Ivory lightweight design paper 3. Fuschia pink ribbon 4. Hot glue gun, Martha Stewart cardstock cutter(which i purchased after completing maybe 10), and a lot of hard work. Took me about three weeks and helping hands to complete 100. -Giselle
  8. Better late than never in terms of posting Our STD's went out last month for May '09 Wedding.
  9. we, I'm actually meeting with Severine from photosouvenir that day to give my deposit. Thanks for allowing me to crash your wedding, I'll watch from far.
  10. Hello Fellow DWB... I wouldn't consider myself a 'newbie' more like a 'silent lurker'. My FI and I decided on Dominican Republic months ago just can't narrow down the hotels. We will be visiting the Punta Cana area August 6 - August 13, staying at one of our options EdenH. While we are there we are visiting the following grounds: 1. Sanctuary Cap Cana - grounds only. Since this is not an all inclusive none of our guest nor us have to stay here. 2. Paradisus Punta Cana 3. Riu Palace 4. EdenH Real Arena 'Save the Dates' were sent out last month for our wedding date May 9th, 2009. I will post pictures later. I am excited to finally pick the location in about 2.5 weeks. The ideas I've read about here are great but can't action anything until I know where I'm getting married. If it were up to me, I would have picked the hotel and planning would have started. But my FI insist we visit grounds first. We are expecting about 100+ ppl at our wedding, so a private reception is necessary. -Giselle
  11. Hi, I'd like to hear from any brides that are planning a private reception in any of the hotels banquet halls?? Thanks!
  12. Giselle Wedding Date: May 16, 2009 Location: Punta Cana, Dominican Republic Hello All, I'm definitely feeling the pressure. Picking a resort that will satisfy my guests and a resort that I will have my dream wedding is tough. We're inviting over 200 guests but only expect 90-120 to actually attend. We have a few resorts that we're actually planning to visit within the next few weeks. I know I have a long process ahead of me. -Giselle
