  1. OOO that sounds like a tough job, takes a special person to do that! I am sure that you are great at it!

There is a Tiffany's on the island?! OMG I am going to run out of time there! We will have 3 appts to see resorts and go to Megans bay and buy rings!?! I better have my coffee in the morning!
  3. Cool! I am not the only one! I am sticking to my guns. I don't know why it is as soon as you start planning a wedding everyone has a reason to do something other than what you want, too many suggestions from loved ones, they create the crazy brides and they don't even know it! Makes me crazy, I second guess myself as soon as I open my mouth!
  4. So I thought it would be fun to get to know one another and post what you do for a living, I bet there is a broad spectum of people on this forum! I'll start.. I am a professional ballroom dancer.
  5. UGH! I am getting sick right before a cruise! I have waited 4 years for a vaca and feel like I am getting post nasal drip, yuck! Got to go to bed....
  6. OK so I am going on a cruise next week and we are stopping at St Thomas where we plan on having the wedding in another year.. Anyone have any suggestions on where to look for a wedding band/ what to keep an eye out for? I thought it would be romantic if we purchased our rings from the island we plan on getting married at.. suggestions?
  7. Ok here is the deal... Fi and I were not going to have a traditionally wedding party as we didn't want to put the extra expense and have the extra work of having everyone in the wedding. Yet, we were going to ask our witness' to stand up for us. Easy, I pick a MOH and he picks a BM right? Well, I couldn't choose between my girls, and I do not have a sister. I am real close to my bro.. So I figured since this is not traditionally anyway, who not to stand up for me than him? So I ask him to be my MOH.. he he and he was thrilled! But then people started to make fun and say that I needed to have a girl so that she can hold the flowers and fix the dress, help me the day of the wedding. He is a firefighter and the guys are asking him what color dress he is going to wear! So it would be nice to have a few girls with me on the day, and Craig (bro) can hang w/ my FI, but what would I do ask the girls to be attendants, I don't want to have BM's and then they feel obligated etc... Or not bother, and figure that the people who want to be with me will be... And what should I call my man- MOH? I need a fun / cool name for him!
  8. Yeah I think I am going to try to go in, I guess brides sleep in the hall until the doors open and then go mad! They gather as many dresses as possible, hold them hostage and bater with other brides shouting out sizes and stuff... All this the day before I go on a cruise! yippee!
  9. ok so I just checked Angela out on the web site... I guess it raised some quesitons for me.. do most people have a ceremony and an actual reception with a meal for the guests? Or forgo a reception alltogether? We are attempting to keep cost down and Im just concerned that if I get a Wc it will raise the cost.. But if she can set it all up and there is no real recpetion then I guess we can afford it... I am torn as to what the typical timeline / day looks like for a DW..
  10. So who is this popular Angela chic? No I don't have a wedding coordinator at this time. I am trying to save money. But, if it is reasonable maybe I would look into it! So LadyP where is your reception? I am going to be meeting with the BC from the Whyndham Sugar Bay and the Frenchmans Marriott. Then we are going on an excursion to Megan's bay. So I am going to try and pack in as many photo's and info as possible in 7 hours! Agh! I guess I am going to have to learn how to get pictures on this site!
  11. Pretty dress, I may go to the local Davids and check it out to see how it looks!

I will make sure to post back and let you know the details as we have appointments with the marriott and the sugar bay resort. If you have any quesions I will be happy to find out!

When are you getting married- Dec. 6, 2008 5. who is you WC- Haven't decided whether to just use the hotel coordinators, but I am also still considering Paradise Bridal Consultants Our reception is at Havana Blue which is the restaurant that is privately owned but on Marriott's beach. It is AMAZING! Exactly what we were picturing for our wedding, very tropical and excellent food! Are there really no more St Thomas brides?? The reception site looks yummy! I love it! I may have to look into it when we go in a few weeks! It is near the Marriott? We were going to check it out along with the Sugar bay while we were there.
  16. So it seems that many of you are planning it yourself/ that we are all newbies! I was wondering, even if you have the ceremony / reception in another location, where is everyone staying? I was looking at the Whyndham Sugar Bay.
  17. Hi! I am a newbie also and considering a Bahama's wedding.. Are you thinking Paradise Island/ Nassau or the Grand Bahama's?
  18. Those are exactly what I am looking to do... and PS- that is how I found this site also!

Honestly, it doesn't change your viewpoint on your "real" wedding. I'm still just as excited to commit to my FI in front of my friends and family. I told my mom and sister that we were hitched in Vegas. They understood that it actually saved us money. I haven't told any other guests because they don't really need to know. What they witness at the wedding will still be the same commitment. I completely agree with you getting married, no matter where you are and who you are with has the same meaning regardless. I am open to the thought of getting legally married prior, but other family members are not, especially since they figured out what we were contemplating on their own! Plus, I have been married before, my FI has not, and I really think that I want to make this ceremony as "traditional" as possible. It is so much different this time around and I want him to feel like I am getting married and want it to be with everyone when it happens, rather than him thinking that I want to do it away from everyone because I have something to hide. But that is another entire story in itself! I think that if I plan it right, he will never feel as if he is my second husband, and that the only reason I want to have a DW is because I have already done the big country club wedding. Instead my FI will see our nuptuals as being something that we did with everyone there because he is THe Man, and I don't need a big wedding to have that precious moment. Wow I must be zonked.... have to go dream now!

But, that's just my families point of view! Maybe check out the Riu Resort in the Bahamas, we almost went there-it's an AI and kid friendly. They are cheaper than Sandals. The only thing w/ this resort (and I don't know if you care or not), but it's more of a high rise building, not a spread out resort. But, worth checking into! Atlantis is right next to it, a huge resort that has all kinds of cool stuff. Good luck!! Yeah, I was looking at the Riu in Bahama's and that is what I didn't like about it also, I wanted more of a resort type rather than a high rise. I don't know if it is nicer to go to the Grand Bahama Island?
  21. Thanks so much for your input. I was talking to FI last night and he was saying how he thought it was funny I didn't complete the p/w to set the date yet. He actually was the one that said, there is something not sitting right with you, you have to listen to your gut. I then told him about some of my reservations, I am usually the type that sees what they want and does it right away, I thought that is how I would feel for this, but I wasn't. So that told me right there- I have to do what my gut is telling me. So now we are going to research Bahama's and also St Thomas. Which is what I was leaning toward in the first place. Lets see how it goes. Good thing is I called my TA and she was awesome about the entire thing! She was not upset that she got all that info for me and I changed my mind. She actually agreed with me that it would be more difficult path to take considering what she knows about me and what I want. So that is reassuring. Now I have to decide on an island. Bahama's / St Thomas? HHHMMM
  22. I am now considering St Thomas... Any suggestions? I wanted an All inclusive for guests, I am visiting there on a cruise in a month and should attempt to see a resort if possible, but will only have a few hours....
  23. Thanks for your advice, I wanted to do a Sandals and the only thing is that the kids are not allowed, I didn't want to do a beaches next door and have them get a day pass. I figure if they are there for the week to spend our wedding with us I would like them to enjoy time with us on the same resort, not have to worry about getting a day pass. Ugh. So much to think about. I feel like I am starting at square one again!
  24. Do you happen to know if any of these are AI?
  25. We were going to legally get married here and then do the wedding in Mexico, which is ok- I just hate lying to our families, we were going to go ahead with that, and as the plans start and they read the info on weddings they got suspicious, and upset. So we are leaning toward not doing that. Does St Thomas have an AI resort that is reputable? Or the bahama's?
