Okay... I went to David's by myself this morning to try on some dresses (first time!). I had been picturing myself in something flowy like chiffon, but tried several on and none of them really flattered me. I tried this dress on and fell in love with it, but I'm not sure if it's good for my DW in Mexico. I don't know why I'm questioning it, because I really loved it. It is taffeta and I tried it on in ivory, which I think is much prettier. I wasn't expecting to fall in love with a dress with a train (this dress has a sweep train), but I know it could be bustled the whole time. Questions for you: 1. Is taffeta going to be too hot in Mexico in July? 2. Does this look too formal for a beach wedding? 3. The new Excellence Playa Mujeres just opened this past November and is supposed to be wonderful. There are several reviews and lots of pictures on Trip Advisor. We would get married there, but it's adults only and my nephews are coming. We are going there for our honeymoon, though.

I have always wanted a DW because I am not a planner and I don't like stress. But trying to plan this wedding is becoming more difficult than I expected. I've only been engaged for a month, but we are hoping to get married this July. I have been in contact with the WC's from two resorts, but as soon as I have asked to put a hold on a date (which I have been told is available), I don't receive a response. I am beyond frustrated. Is it normal / expected for the repsonse time to be soooo slow?

What about Secrets Capri? We went last June and it was spectacular! There is also the new Excellence Playa Mujeres, which looks phenomenal. We would be getting married at one of those resorts if my nephews weren't coming. We are still planning to go to Excellence for the second half of our weddingmoon.

It's from Nordstrom and I think it's super cute. I think it's perfect for a beach wedding. Can't decide on the length, though. I don't really like the looks of my legs without heels, and I can't wear heels since I'm planning to get married in the sand. But, on the other hand, it's soooooooo pretty....

I am also considering the Hilton. I have a co-worker who got married there a couple of years ago and LOVED IT! She really has only the best things to say about her wedding. I just e-mailed them yesterday and the WC already e-mailed me back an e-proposal will all kinds of info. attached. It looks beautiful.

I need your help! Fi and I want to be married in as private a location as possible. I know that it is impossible to be *completely* private at a resort, but which ones have ceremony locations that are somewhat secluded? I do not want strangers in their bathing suits 10 feet away from me while I'm getting married! Thank you!

Thanks everyone ~ I'm glad I'm not alone!!! FI and I have been planning on getting married in Mexico for a long time, BUT we wanted to do it just the two of us. That wasn't going to fly with the families (of course). Now it will just be immediate family and a few close friends. I would say 15 people max. Two are kids, which makes it much harder for me since I prefer the adults only places.

Hi everyone! FI and I were recently engaged (Jan. 1) and are trying to plan a July wedding in Mexico. We have visited Riviera Maya and loved it, so that's where we're leaning towards. We stayed at Secrets Capri last June, and it was soooo wonderful, but we want to experience someplace new. Right now we are just struggling with findind the location. This forum is such a great resource. Too great, in fact! I am totally slacking in every other aspect of my life and spending an obscene amount of time on this forum and TripAdvisor! I think I need an intervention...
