  6. Just wondering if you all had / will have music during your welcome reception. We are having a Mexican Trio during the ceremony and cocktail hour, but have not decided what to do the night before. If anything, we will just play an IPOD. We are looking to save a little money and this may be one place. Do you think music would be missed?
  7. Opice, I asked Fernanda about La Europea, and she gave me a contact e-mail that didn't work. It sounds like you place your order, and they drop everything off. They will also pick up unopened bottles and give you a refund. We decided to just use the Hilton since we only have about 20 guests. Fernanda is allowing us to pay by drink consumption, rather than having to pay for the open bar.
  8. We vacationed there last summer and it was absolutely wonderful. We did see several weddings being set up, and they looked beautiful. However, the gazebo is right by the pool and wasn't very private. The beach location seemed to be more private. The atmosphere, food, service, etc... were exceptional. We would definitely have considered having our wedding there if my young nephews weren't coming.

I'm hoping there will be a wedding set-up so we can show them...how crazy if it would have been yours! We just missed you by a week! How many guests are you expecting? Are you going to post a planning thread? I'd love to see your stuff! I'm also curious to what all of the Hilton brides are choosing for their menus... We are heading down Tuesday the 24th, and the wedding is Friday the 27th! That's too bad we are just missing each other! I will post a planning thread in the next couple of days... I love seeing those, too!
  10. Sooooo.... Has anyone heard from Fernanda in the last week or so? I have two e-mails I am waiting on responses from. One was sent last Monday and the other last Tuesday. I sent them both again this morning. This seems to be the pattern: I e-mail her, she responds about a week later, I e-mail her back pretty much immediately, she responds about a week later, etc... I am a pretty patient person, but my wedding is in about two weeks and I still need to iron out some details!
  11. ...and now I feel guilty as crap! Let me preface by saying I am really cheap about some things and splurge on others. Make-up is something I am really cheap about (usually)! I always buy drugstore brand make-up. I went to Ulta today just to get some foundation and powder for my wedding. The girl ended up doing my whole face, and I loved it so I bought everything. I feel sooooo gulity now. I guess I can't me mad at FI for buying Sirius radio a few weeks ago...
  12. What a gorgeous dress and you look perfect in it! BTW ~ We have the same wedding date!!! I'm just now starting to get a little anxious!
  13. Thanks, Alyssa! I agree, there is not reallly a place to put the brooch. I will put it in my bouquet instead! Nope, I did not go to NYU! I'm a Purdue and IU grad!
  14. I would like to add a brooch to my dress since it doesn't have any beading or other detail. The problem is, I don't know where the best place to put it would be. I know a lot of brides remove a flower or bow from their dress and put it there, but my dress doesn't seem to have an obvious plave to put it (at least not to me!) Any ideas?
  15. Opice, I had a hard time with the hotel code, too. I think it is CUNHR if I remember correctly. I set mine up a while ago, and now it automatically logs me in. Let me know if that works...
  16. Jessica, What she told you does seem confusing! And it's weird that she told you something different... We are pretty much done with all the planning! We need to make some final choices on food and music, and I need to hear back from Fernanda before I can do that. The communication has definitely been the hardest part. She has been really inconsistent, and I thought she would get better as my wedding got closer. Maybe 3 weeks still isn't that close in her opinion, as she probably has many wedding before mine.

  18. Bad news, girls... Fernanda e-mailed me last night and mentioned that the 15% service charge has been raised to 18%!!! When I signed my contract, it was 15%, so I'm assuming they will honor that. ?!?!?! I e-mailed her back and got an out-of-office reply. She is out of the office today.
  19. I know that you have to book 80% of your rooms in order to avoid paying a penalty. I don't know how much you would have to pay, though. We booked enough that we didn't have to worry about it!
  20. Okay, I changed my shoes! I found these and I think they are so freaking cute!!! They also come in pink and blue!
  21. I ordered the greatest postcards from Amazon and I just wanted to share! They are vintage Mexican calendar prints. I am going to use them for my guestbook, but they would be great for OOT bags as well. There are 30 postcards, 2 each of 15 different prints. The colors are so bright and vibrant! I also ordered some Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera postcards. I love the vintage look to them! Here's a site with some of the artwork... Yes the link is just the number 6... 6
  22. What about something like this? They have a cool vintage-y feel to them. I found something similar for Mexico, and am using the postcards in lieu of a traditional guestbook. Amazon.com: Hula Honeys: 30 Postcards (Collectible Postcards): Jim Heimann: Books If you click on "look inside" you can see a sample postcard ans several samples on the back cover. They are so cute!
  23. I just bought these bags today, too! They are just too perfect!
