My slideshow is up!!!
h&a replied to h&a's topic in Post your Destination Wedding & Engagement Pictures!
Thanks everyone so much for your kind words! Big thanks to all the girls who said they liked my hair... lol.... ever since the wedding I've been having nightmares that my hair would just look horrible in the pictures. I decided to forgo the trial hair run (wouldn't sugggest that!) and while I loved my hair to start, and despite the half a bottle of hairspray, the humidity and wind knocked the curls out almost right away. Luckily Vincent captured the wind blown look well -

You must be getting so excited... not long now for you! -

I got the overlays, runners and sashes from Sashes For Love I first ordered sashes from her off of ebay and then used her website to order the overlays, runners and napkins. She was super sweet to deal with and went out specially for me to find lime colored material for the napkins. She also sent them to me really fast (she shipped them a week after I ordered them after I asked if she would be able to put a rush on it). I would highly recommend her. Also if you want to check out the sellers feedback on ebay her ebay name is hermila51 -

Hi Laura, Thanks for the nice comments you made with my earlier slideshow post. I'm not sure if you noticed, but I used organza overlays with organza runners for my tables. I would post the picture, but I only have the link right now... here's the link again, though, if you want to check it out... (numbers 79, 80 and 95 are good ones of the tables). del Sol Photography Wedding Photojournalism -
Yay! My slideshow from del Sol is up! We had a great time working with Vincent and would definitely recommend del Sol... I'll include a separate review along with my wedding review. For now, though, here are the pictures from both the wedding day and the TTD! del Sol Photography Wedding Photojournalism del Sol Photography Wedding Photojournalism

I was also nervous about getting all the stuff down to Mexico, but we didn't have any problems. Alex and I each had a suitcase with clothes and then we had two big suitcases solely for all the decorations and DIY stuff. We also had a carry on with fragile wedding things and carried on my wedding dress and Alex's suit. To get through customs in Mexico you walk forward and press a button, which randomly goes either green (good to go) or red (where you go to the side to be checked). Of course, we got the red, which I was dreading... especially with the starfish and sand that I was worried about bringing through. Luckily, the person randomly selected two bags of clothes and hardly went through it at that. Everyone we encountered throughout in the airports were so nice when they saw the big wedding dress bag I was carrying. I was pretty happy, though, to see my stuff on the other side as I'm always prepared for a delay with bags (I've had a few too many experiences like that!). -

Yeah, the link has been down tonight but it was fine all day (I only checked it about a dozen times throughout the day ). Yes, we flew from Mexico to St Lucia and then to Canada. Flying from Mexico to St Lucia was a long day. We flew Cancun to Miami to Puerto Rico... but our flight to Puerto Rico was delayed and the flight to St Lucia from Puerto Rico left early so we missed it by a matter of minutes. The next available flight from San Juan to St Lucia wasn't for 4 days so American Airlines put us up in a hotel in San Juan for a night and then flew us back to Miami in the morning to catch a non stop flight to the other airport in St Lucia. Pretty crazy, but I was on such a high from the wedding and so thankful over the weather on our wedding day that I was fine with it all. And now we're back home and I'm going through withdrawal -

I think the pictures will be up fairly soon (although by no specific date). If you look at their client proofing page http://www.delsolphotography.com/clientproofing/ they already have pictures up from the end of May and Sol's blog shows a wedding on May 30.... so not too long! St Lucia is a small caribbean island south of Martinique and northwest of Barbados. We had a great time and were so happy to have a week to ourselves after the wedding! BTW... for us it also rained on Tuesday... in fact, the only days that would have worked for us as far as not being rained out were the 4th and the 5th... someone was looking out for me -

Congratulations! Were you as stressed as I was about all the rain the days leading up to our wedding? We had everything planned for outside so I was pretty stressed with the weather (to put it mildly)…. we were so lucky, though, to have such beautiful weather on our day! So you were the one who booked Sol! Lol… we had our heart set on her, but she was booked Are you also anxiously awaiting your pictures? (no rush, though, Matt and Sol if you're reading this... I've been anxiously awaiting them since the moment they were taken and not b/c of any delay). We had a lot of fun with Vincent and we can’t wait to see the pictures! We also did a TTD with him the next day, which was loads of fun and I can't wait to see the pictures of that. We honeymooned in St Lucia – we just got home on Sunday. What about you? Congratulations again on your wedding! I saw your review and you looked beautiful! -

I only had 5 ½ months to plan, which wasn’t nearly long enough once I found this site and all the great ideas! Thanks for the pictures of your cake boxes…I loved how you did them and fashioned mine after yours (I also fashioned my menus (not posted) after yours!). For any Canadian girls wanting to make boxed invitations, though, make sure you read this thread about Canadian post regulations. http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t19552 The OOT bags were bought from cheaptotes Promotional tote bags custom sizes and styles from cheap totes for $1.29 each. I also bought the transfer paper from them for the iron on. It was very easy to do (once you get the hang of it) and they provided instructions. Remeber to invert the image and I found you really had to apply the iron with a some force and for the length of time they suggested... any less and the image wouldn't properly come out. Do you mind me asking, where in Mexico did you buy the maracas and how much were they?? I'm leaving for a site/planning visit near Playa del Carmen in two days and would love to be able to pick them up if they're in my budget!! You’ll find these maracas everywhere. When you’re on your site visit you’ll probably want to check out 5th ave in Playa (the main shopping street) and you’ll see them in a ton of stores. I found the best prices and selection was in the bigger tourist stores on 5th – one is at the very end of 5th closer to Playacar area (very, very end when you can’t walk any further b/c this store is in the center). The other one (where I bought them from) is about half way up the fairly long walking street (right hand side of the street if you’re standing at the end I just explained and about to walk to the other end). These bigger stores have three sizes of maracas (I bought the medium sized) and they were just over a dollar each. They have deals if you buy a certain amount. I think we bought about 30 maracas for $35. Enjoy your site visit. You’ll love Playa del Carmen… I want to go back!!! Quote: Originally Posted by monicaswave Wow!!! I could only hope for all my projects to look as good as yours! Quick question-how did you do the cake topper? I love it! Did you do the cake knife as well This was a really time consuming project, but I loved the end result! I also plan on cutting down the sticks and putting them in some sort of shadow box perhaps with some sand at the bottom as a keepsake from our wedding. I used Angela’s advice on the cake topper project (thanks, Angela!). http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t8698 As with Angela, I would highly recommend Tami’s Place for the crystals. I also used the same site as Angela did for ordering the monograms and they were also great. You’ll find your own system, but I used the glue from Tami’s Place and used the end of a pin to pick up a tiny bit of glue and transfer it to the crystal… I was pretty picky about not having any glue show around the edges and this allowed me to only transfer a small amount of glue (plus if any glue showed I would use the needle to scrape it off). Quote: Originally Posted by redheaney I LOVE these threads! Everything turned out beautifully! Can't wait to see your pictures/read your review... Did you bling your own cake knife and server too?! They look so good together! Thank you. Yes, I blinged the cake knife and server as well. I bought them from a kitchen chain store (Benix) for $7.99… compared to the monograms they took no time at all, and I thought they pulled it all together nicely Quote: Originally Posted by Rhonda Hi Heidi! I would definitely recommend ordering a few more than you need. -

I never had time to post my planning pictures before leaving for Mexico, but seeing as these are always my favorite threads I thought I would post them now that I'm back. Thank you to all the BDW girls for your amazing ideas and support. I loved every minute of my wedding, and it wouldn't have been nearly as special if it wasn't for all the great ideas shared on this forum. Now... on to the pictures... The Invitations -
Hi girls! Just a quick hello from St Lucia. I'm on my honeymoon now, but wanted to let you all know that my wedding at the Royal was fantastic! I plan to write a full review once we get home (in another week) and answer any of your questions then... for now, though, the wedding was amazing and the Royal exceeded my expectations. I also had communication problems beforehand, but once I was there both Zulma and Michaela were fabulous.... I really can't say enough about my wedding and time at the Royal (and I can be pretty picky!). I can't wait to share my review and pictures once I get back!
-
It looks like you guys had a great time! Thanks for sharing! I'm getting married three days before you. It's coming up so soon!!! Can you believe it?!?
-
Welcome to the forum! I'm getting married at the Royal in just over two weeks! The communication definitely has been slow, but the resort looks beautiful and all the brides I've talked to who have married there have been thrilled. I'll be sure to answer any of your questions when I get back, and to post a review. Congratulations!
