  1. At the resorts it is referred to as a symbolic ceremony or renewal of vows. Use the search with those 2 terms and you will come up with a lot. One advantage is that it is sometimes cheaper because of not needing to arrange the documentation and judge.
  2. Before I had done any research planning our wedding, I would say yea, that is a lot of money. But now that I have crunched numbers for a wedding in Mexico, I don't think it is that bad. It comes out to $154 per person per night. The all inclusive places that we are looking at are up to $200 per person per night. We are also considering some non-AI places, because it is a lot of money. I really like Playa Fiesta, but it is the minimum night stay that ruled it out for us. I say if your guests can come for that long, then go for it. I have never read one bad thing about it!
  3. I did the 2nd quiz and got 11 out of 15. I bet my FI would get 100% with both of them. He is really good at stuff like that. Although the other day while studying for the GMAT, he said I can't believe these questions. He then read them off to me and I got the first one right. Ha, I'm smart too
  4. I got 15 right. I know for sure I missed Dole, Pepsi, BMW. Those were all in a row. I was home free when I got to Target!

  6. Thanks to this thread I stopped by McDonald's on my way to work last night. I have had their tea before and I agree, it's very good. The one that I went to didn't have it! And this is in Texas. I told FI and he rattled off all the other ones in the area that do. He's definitely addicted. I looooove Sonic. The limeaids are really good. I also like the cream-slush, which is a slush mixed with ice cream. The best thing about Sonic is that they are always changing their desert menu. They make a sonic blast, which is like a flurry or a blizzard. I hope they come back around with the cookie dough again.
  7. I'm glad you found something. Shangri-la Caribe looks nice and private. I was looking into having our wedding there, but they are closing March 2009.
  8. Thank you for sharing. Everything was so beautiful and green!
  9. Some of these aren't too bad.....others are....interesting What Not To Wear Bridal 2008: Index
  10. I have been calling my FMIL mom for awhile now. It's definitely easier to do in writing or a casual way. There are other times when I am more comfortable calling her by her name. My FI is an only child, so I kind of enjoy being able to be "her daughter". My mom died in 2005, so I do feel grateful to have another mother-figure and she does not replace my real mom in any way.
  11. Great find! I just added him to my bookmarks.
  12. Have you seen these threads? They are really good for pics. PVbride recently got married there, but I haven't seen her review yet. http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t9676 http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t6052 http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t6017 Also check out tripadvisor.com. Playa Fiesta gets raving reviews and you can PM the girls there for any questions. Good luck!
  13. Congratulations! What a huge relief to have it settled. Now you can move on!
  14. I love the passport cover! Such a good idea since many people have to get their first passport to be able to attend. Thanks for posting the link.
  15. When it comes time for us to make these decisions, I think we may try to wait to see who books so no one feels obligated. Even though I'm sure they know who they are!
  16. We haven't done either yet. We are still working on the time and place issue! But I have thought about doing both. My FI is the most traveled person that I think anyone in our friends and family know! So I think it would be really cute to send them out and that people would enjoy them. I'm thinking about doing the passports first as a STD and to include all information about booking the trip and how to obtain a passport for themselves. Then use the boarding pass later. I just saw someone on here make a "return ticket" as the RSVP. So we can round up the stragglers. I'm going to be so grateful for all of these ideas when it is time to get crafty!
  17. Hello, I was hoping that there would be some Azul Brides popping in. Azul is our #1 choice. We are going on a site visit next month and I hope to fall in love with it so we can get on with the planning. Here is a good resource with a few slideshows and reviews of weddings. Find a Mexican Resort - AZUL Beach Hotel, by Karisma - StrayWeddings.com - Destination Weddings in Mexico There also is an Azul Bride group on Facebook, sadly it's not very active. But it can't hurt to keep checking every now and then. Login | Facebook
  18. That's a tough one! I agree that you don't have to make her part of the ceremony. Maybe she can stand off to the side? Hopefully someone will have some advice for you.
  19. If you are going the all-inclusive route, I'd like to know what your guests are paying for night. Also if you could tell me how you got your rate; from the hotel, as a group rate, online website or through travel agent? We have never stayed AI before. The places I like are about $200 per person per night (without any discounts) and we are trying to decide if that is unreasonable.
  20. I think we are going to legally marry before going to Mexico too. I don't plan on telling anyone though. It just seems easier and much cheaper! One question though for those further along in planning.....What is your coordinator doing to make it look "official" to guests? Are they providing a certificate to sign or having you do your thumb prints? I think I want something like that for a keep sake.
  21. 1. I just realized exactly how many we have!!!! I always thought that they randomly changed and when clicking on *more* only a small window opened up.......Well today I enlarged the window and we have a ton! 2. I wish we got bonus points for using a Smilie, cause I'm a dork and I like to pick one for each post! That's all
  22. I know what you mean! Shangri-la Caribe looks really great for a wedding. I emailed a bit with the coordinator and they were very nice and fast to respond. Our wedding won't be until after their close date either and honestly I would have felt a little hesitant to book with them knowing that they were closing soon. We are looking at the Riviera Maya too, but hopefully with a little smaller guest list Good luck! Oh have you looked at Ana Y Jose Beach Club? It is in Tulum and the hotel wouldn't accommodate your full guest list. But it also looks great for a wedding.
  23. Thanks! What fast responses. That's why I love this place . Liberty Travel doesn't have Azul listed and Apple does, but it won't let me book hotel only. Very good suggestions though!
  24. I am needing to book a one night stay at Azul Beach Resort for a site visit. Their website won't let you book less than 3 nights. However, I came across a few online booking sites that would. The last thing I want to do is book a night and get screwed over when we get in Mexico. I have read the thread warning about Expedia and Orbitz so I know to stay away from them. So that leaves me with Bookit.com or Hotels.com. I have also been contemplating booking a standard room vs deluxe room... Any thoughts
