  1. Thank goodness! I can just see myself going totally blank. Will you get to speak with your minister before the ceremony? From what other RIU brides have said I'm pretty sure I won't meet him so I guess I just give the vows to the WC.
  2. Hobby Lobby- if you go to their website and sign-up for their mailing list you get 40% off coupons emailed to you each week.
  3. Maybe a dumb question, but if you write your own vows, can you still have the minister say them and you repeat them? I don't want to try to memorize them but if I write them down, who will hold them?
  4. All of the pics I have seen from the gazebo weddings have the bride and groom standing infront of the gazebo. Is that just so people can hear what you are saying? My vision was to be standing inside the gazebo. Can any of the married brides tell me if that was an option or not, and also, does the minister have a mic?

I'm using glue dots to secure the ribbon- hobby lobby and michaels sell these in the scrapbooking section. I always burn myself with a glue gun so these are perfect for me. And they don't leave those glue strings.
  6. I ordered similiar fans from Oriental trading. I got orchids from Michaels and Hobby Lobby to attach and I'm wrapping the handles in pink and purple ribbons. I've only done 2 so far, excuse the extra ribbon this is my practice one The bright pink orchids are from Michaels and are better quality. They almost feel like rubber. The purple ones are silk and are from Hobby Lobby. Both were 50% off so they were about $2.50 per stem.
  7. Everything is beautiful! I saw in your review that you found a local photog, do you still have their contact info? Thanks!
  8. I'm actually trying to find out about the tables at Mammee Bay right now,so as soon as I get a response I will post it. I'm getting married there in april, with about 27 guests, so i will post lots of pics when i get back!

I am doing the beach gazebo, and I have them wearing tea lengths dresses, so I was thinking wedges, but is it wierd for them to wear shoes in the sand? Where is a good place to have the dinner after the ceremony, I am only having around 20ish guests, I've heard Maumee bay alot? Whats that like? Is it one long table or little tables? I want to give my guests personalized bottles of sunscreen in their rooms before they get there, How would I get those to the resort? And how would they get into the rooms of my guests? The disco. Good idea or no? Okay, that might be it for now Thanks so much and i hope to hear form someone soon!!! Congrats! My BMs are wearing barefoot sandals with tea length dresses. I thought shoes might be hard to walk in if the sand is really soft. Mammee Bay is the free reception. You can also have a beach reception or a private reception at Plantation but you will pay to rent the restaurant. We have gotten mixed responses from the resort re: shipping things to the resort ahead of time, so I think the majority of people just pack all this stuff in thier suitcases. Lots of girls are having welcome receptions when they arrive at the resort at one of the bars and giving out gifts then. Can't help with the disco, sorry! If you click search, then advanced search and type in the names of any of the restaurants or really any topic you will find lots of info. There are a ton of RIU Ocho Rios brides on here with lots of info. Be sure to read all the threads that say wedding review! There are 2 or 3 new reviews posted under Jamaica right now. Happy planning!
  10. I love this site. Everything on here is handmade and prices are totally reasonable. I love DIY, but this is a great way to fake it when I don't have the time or creative juices to make something. You can find jewelry, stationary, veils, centerpieces, favors, etc and most of the people on here will customize for free or really cheap. Etsy :: Your place to buy and sell all things handmade
  11. my BF does the threading for her eyebrows, it looks way better than waxing, but she says it hurts more. I guess everyone's pain threshhold is different. Mine is zero!

  13. Welcome! You will be addicted to this place, so warn your family and friends!
  14. The first pair is actually pretty easy to make. The gemstone chips are sold at hobby lobby and michaels and I used sterling silver wire from a bead store, but you can buy sterling plated wire at craft stores. The amethyst stone at the bottom came from a local bead store, but you could use a glass imitation gemstone bead from a craft store and get the same effect. If I have time this weekend I will try to post instructions how to make these with some step-by-step pics.
  15. I am actuallly making jewelry as gifts for lots of people- ladies throwing my showers, mom and MIL, WC, etc. I would rather give them something personal over something from the mall. I think i might go with the first pair...
  16. Oh thats a nice idea, then they would look like were floating in my pictures. Thanks!

FYI- you can every easily make them too. Just fold 5-6 sheets of paper according style and tie in the middle. Cut the ends either rounded or in a point. Pull apart to form. When you used these, how did you hang them? I'm thinking of using ribbons. Luckily my mother and her best friend are coming and they are super crafty and perfectionist so I'm leaving this in their hands! My very first idea was do hanging flowers, similiar to this picture, but then i thought the resort might not hang them the way i want them...
  18. Nope, no lights /c its a day time ceremony. The tissue flowers actually don't take up much space at all. a pack of 7 flowers is only an inch thick. I bought the pre-cut kit but i went on martha stewart.com and found DIY instuctions that would save me some $$$. When i do a trial run i'll post pics
  19. I'm a wimp! I've never even gotten my eyebrows waxed. If there any other wimps out there, I recommend Nair bikini. It smells like rotten eggs while you have it on, but 5-10 minutes later you are smooth sailing. for me, it lasts about 4-5 days but it's totally painless : )
  20. Earrings I made for BMs, have to decide which style i like better
  21. Tami- thanks for posting this site! I'm so glad I didn't know about BDW a year ago when i first got engaged b/c this site has taken over my life! There is so much more to think about than had ever crossed my mind! If I had been thinking about all of this for the past year i think i would be single by now : ) I think i'm doing the hand ceremony now. And i like the red rose idea too.
