Ethnic Brides...How 'Bout Makeup??
Agape Gems replied to BillysBride's topic in Beauty, Exercise, Diet
My sis and aunt swear by bare essentials, but they don't have my color. And the one color that is closest to my complexion is too light for my forehead. If you buy some translucent powder and dust it over your foundation it will set and won't rub off on your hands or clothes. But if you do get it on your clothes, Shout wipes get it right off, its like magic! -

We only have about 17 guests that aren't part of the wedding party so hopefully taking pics with them won't take too long. I guess I'm more concerned with everyone standing behind the photog trying to take the same pics. I'm planning to tell everyone that I will be putting the professional pics online for everyone to see and order so hopefully they won't be in the way. Your friend did an excellent job on your hair! Is she free next week? : )

Who makes the call here??
Agape Gems replied to Celina's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
Men and women are just different. Don't let anyone make you think you are crazy for trying to make sure your days goes as smoothly as possible. I am leaving next Wed and my FI JUST asked his best man and groomsmen to be in the wedding 2 weeks ago. I have been ready to strangle him for months about this but he just totally doesn't think its a big deal at all. We have been engaged since Dec 2006 so he has had PLENTY of time but it just wasn't on his radar. I think sometimes you just have to do what needs to be done and let the men get over it. IMO. -

Flowers at the Riu Ocho Rios

Add wedding to anything and you automatically add at least $100 to price. My girls are carrying parasols too, and they are putting a real touch orchid in their hair. -
How exciting!! You can upload the high res pics that she gives you to a website like shutterfly or snapfish and then you can use their design tool to create a book. since you only have 20 pics I would suggest cropping those 20 creatively so that you end up with more images. So for instance, you could take a layout on shutterfly that has room for one large image and 3 smaller images on the same page. Use the full original image as the large one, then 3 cropped images to fill in the smaller blocks. Does that make sense?

I would put my money on your birth control pills. I'm a sex-ed teacher (Abstinence teacher really but people always ask ?s about sex not abstinence!) and there is tons of research that shows that taking BC seriously reduces sex drive. It's ironic that you take BC to that you can have sex w/o worries but then you don't want to anymore. Switching to a different prescription may help, at least for a while, but ultimately IMO (personal opinion not professional) I think it will be up to you and your FI to figure out what does excite you. Women are ovens not microwaves!

Ethnic Brides...How 'Bout Makeup??
Agape Gems replied to BillysBride's topic in Beauty, Exercise, Diet
MAC is the only makeup I have found that comes in my color. I use their Studio Tech foundation. I bought a huge hat to wear the few days we are there before the ceremony so hopefully my face will still be the same color! I do need to get waterproof mascara and eyeliner if anyone has any recommendations. -
There is definitely an unspoken rule when it comes to setting wedding dates and considering what other plans are already in place, so you have every right to be upset. I think she is being really selfish and is not acting like a "friend" at all. Whatever you do don't tell her about BDW! LOL I also think avoidance=guilt, so she know's how wrong she is and just doesn't want to admit it.

It looks like everything was perfect! and I love your hair, did you take a picture to the salon? I'm trying to figure out my timeline for the wedding day, how much time did ya'll spend taking pics after the ceremony? I have allotted for an hour, but after looking at all of your pics I'm thinking that isn't enough time. HELP!

She still hasn't booked, so i'm a little bit concerned. Just in case she can't make it, I'm bringing all of my ceramic irons (my sedu, maxiglide, chi) and all of my styling tools and products. I love the styles you have chosen, but I'm not brave enough to risk it on my day! My natural curls are not as tight as yours are and so my hair frizzes at any thought of humidity! I used to go to a dominican salon until I bought a Chi and now i can get my hair as straight as they do. I'm planning to straighten my hair before I leave and wear it straight on the first day and see what happens. If I'm not a complete frizz ball by the end of the day then I might consider wearing my hair half down. At any rate, I guess I'll be the test dummy for everyone next week! -

beachy centerpiece help!
Agape Gems replied to katrina's topic in Wedding Flowers, decoration, cake, etc.
What about doing a combined centerpiece/wedding favor bucket? I just recently saw some bath products that were ice cream themed in shape and flavor/scent. I'm sorry I can't remember the brand but they were at both Kohl's and Stein Mart. Or what if you do buckets of different kinds of old fashioned candies? -

It all worked out but I'm just glad Chandlyn is realizing that some people want to have their reception right away not wait hours. Who wants to wait 6 hours for the reception That's crazy. I didn't want to do that b/c I felt like I would be taking over my guests entire day. This way they can still spend thier afternoon doing whatever they please, and if they want to come back and join us that night at the disco to party they can. I'm glad you were able to work something out though. I wish we had in our budget to take everyone to a local place, that would be so cool!
