  1. Just wondering how everyone has come along with planning? We have made some progress with ours.

We decided to go with Cabo flowers for flowers. Garrit from Mango Deck recommended them to me, and she has quoted me decent price. Now we have to decide canopy or not? They're so pretty, but so expensive.

We'll have a cocktail hour with some passed appetizers to appease my mom. She's not happy about us having an open bar for 3 hours, but she really wants appetizers for cocktail hour, so it seems like as long as we do appetizers for cocktail hour, she'll stop continually questioning me about the open bar.

We've gone with the sea bass and orange and mustard pork tenderloin plated dinner.

    Still not sure about wine/champagne.

We had a make-up lesson last weekend, and I think we will do our own make-up.

Still not sure about the cake, but it will be chocolate with rasberry filling.

Our invites our out, and things are coming together.smile123.gif

  2. I would like to do virutal weigh ins. I do really well, and then I go out of town, and then my food gets screwed up, and I like to drink beer on the weekends. I workout 3-5 times per week, but I guess I'm not doing the right workout. I swear my metabolism is non-existant. My first fitting is in a month, and I really want her to be able to take my dress in. Plus, being on the beach in Cabo for a week with the family. I don't want to look the way I do now. So frustrating.smile43:

I'm thinking of a personal trainer for 2 months. I'm doing a detox next week for 10 days to hopefully give my metabolism some kind of boost.

    Thank for all the motivation.

  3. HI there,

I am getting married at the Westin, and was under the same thought that I couldn't work with outside vendors, but it seems, with all the resorts, they want you to go through them because they make money that way, but you don't have to go through them. The only thing you must do with them is catering.

  4. I think my WC is Lorena. She is the one that has been answering my questions. I'm not 100% happy with her, but she has been okay. Since we didn't do a block of rooms, I'm kind of feeling like we're not so important? Does that make sense. Anyway, has Karina been helping you decide on menu? Has she talked to you about anything else vendor wise?

I havent done a trial-run yet.

*I havent quite figured out how to do the PIP thing yet but I'm reading up on it now in the "how to" section. :)

We were trying to cut costs because flowers are so expensive in Cabo, so we went on a crafty shopping day, and had the same thought with the beach glass inside. We also have sand colored beach glass with seashells around the outside of the big vase. The beach glass and colored candle really makes a difference, if you are looking for some color. We're pretty happy with these. we will put more blue glass and less sand inside.

We found the large and small matching votives at wal-mart. The large one was four dollars, and the small votives were fifty cents.
  6. We have been trying to decide what to do about this. A friend of ours is going to do the online marriage certification, and she will marry us officially and unofficialy in Mexico. We were wondering or thinking maybe we can get the paperwork and take it down there so my sister, who is my witness, can still sign, but we'll still say we were married here in the states.

Is this crazy, or does anyone think this would work?

  7. i think this is similar to what we're going to go with -- all white linens and colored callas as the floral centerpieces. but we will use short mini callas so they arent so tall

REally beautiful and elegant, and I think no matter where on the property you have your reception, it is a good choice because the whole property is loaded with such beautiful spots.

We have finally figured out our centerpieces. They so cute. We're both excited! As soon as I can find a our program to resize, I'll post them. I think I"ve figured that out.

  8. Steph, I will post selected photos from the album you sent me --don't worry none of you, just the ones of the Westin grounds cheesy.gif

    Perfect! thanks!

omg. $6 A DAISY? hell no. my FMIL has contacts in Mexico City that she's looking into to get our flowers cheaply in Cabo, as soon as I hear from her, I will let you know what she comes up with and I will pass along the info!

If you have information or help, that would be awesome! We actually went to Micheal's and Wal Mart today and picked up vases, candles, pebbles, and other crafty things and came up with some very cute centerpieces, so our flowers will be minimal. We just need to think the about the shipping.

I would still like to have some colorful daisies for bouquets and maybe for the cake table. Not sure yet. Maybe more flowers for the ceremony?

The best place I've found to rent timeshares are vrbo.com and redweek.com. You can become a guest member of redweek.com, and if you see a posting you are interested in, you can let me know because I joined or pay 10.00 for a year membership. you are in contact with people who are renting out their timeshares. Just look for Club Regina and Grand Regina. We never saw inside the Club Regina, but the Grand Regina we did tour and they were beautiful, but more expensive to rent than Club Regina. rolleyes.gif

That's what I was thinking. If we could just have a few certain drinks like a signature cocktail, beer, and wine. I did bring this up to our planner, and she wouldn't budge, and I'm not forceful. I think I need to learn how to be more forceful.
  10. I was considering Brisas beach club for a welcome dinner/party the weekend of our wedding? I haven't seen anyone write anything about them, and I was wondering if anyone reading this has used them or been there at all?

It seemed relatively inexpensive and beachy/cute.

    Thanks!

  11. We have been wondering what to do regarding open bar vs. wine at the tables and corkage fees. I did get a price for one type of wine, and this wine plus the corkage fee and service fee and tax was comparable to just buying the wine there. It was a little cheaper, but it seems we can argue this, so we might look into the corkage again. Right now we're thinking a three hour open bar with no wine at the table. The jump from 3 to 4 hours is huge in terms of money, so that's why we were thinking of 3 hours of open bar.

I was also trying to get our coordinator to do a bar they offered last year of only margaritas, daquiris, pina coladas, beer, wine, juice, soda, and water. That's really all we need, but she wouldn't budge. Maybe if I have my dad call her?

  12. I have been at a conference all week, an am feeling pretty down about my weight thing. First, I lost a pound last week, and I felt good about it, but being gone this week and eating out everyday and having dessert put down in front of me was too much. I just love food, and it's so hard for me to say no. I'm considering getting a personal trainer because my workouts don't seem to be helping at all. It's like my metabolism has completely shut down, and it's so depressing.

Back home now, and I know the upcoming weeks will be better. I have not trips planned, so that's a good thing.

I"m afraid to weigh in this week because of all the food the past three days. I guess that's why meetings are such a positive thing.

  13. The AV quote PDF is exactly what they told me. We were actually thinking about buying this ION system and taking it down with us because it plays and IPOD and has a speaker, and it would be cheaper, but we'd have to carry it down there, so that's a huge downfall.

I'm definitely going to look into using someone elsewhere for flowers.

We asked about a mariachi band and they quoted us 1200.00 plus 10%. That was crazy.

Arrecifes is a beautiful spot., but we're only having about 35 people and it's way out of our budget.

We just chose our menu. We'll have sea bass and the orange flavored pork. I can't remember exactly the name of the pork.

I asked about what the corking fee is, and it was pretty outrageous, but it seems possible I can have my father (Spanish speaker) call down and negoitiate. If that doesn't work, we'll just have an open bar with no wine at the tables.

Great to finally converse with other Westin brides, and get an idea of what you all are doing. It really helps.

    Stephanie
