  1. Congrats to all...... From: Stacy & Brian 10-22-08 Ocho Rios If you are getting married in Jamaica…. Our official marriage license came about two months after the wedding. Listed on our official marriage license they give the “Condition of the Groom” and the “Condition of the Bride” as they come to be married. Next to “Condition of the Groom” they listed “Bachelor,” next to “Condition of the Bride” they listed “Spinster.” SPINSTER!!!!!!...... on the Marriage License! My husband likes to tell everyone that he saved me from a life of being a spinster. I just laugh. Good Luck to you all. Relax, and enjoy. You are in for the time of your life!
  2. Another bit of advice….. If you are getting married on the ship, when you meet your photographer tell him/her you want a group photo. Your day goes so fast and after the reception everyone scatters to do their own thing. Make an announcement… “Before you all go… lets get a group photo.” This was the first photos that our photographer shot after the wedding. We took it on the stairs with almost all of our party (my husband’s brother and wife didn’t hear the announcement and took off for the island, we didn’t get any shots with them… but that is another story). I love our group photo. I got 8X10s and gave one to our parents, aunts, and many of the guest traveling with us.
  3. One more thing….. If you are getting married in Jamaica…. 4. It has been a long time from my last post in this thread. I am now a married woman!!! I’m the bride that was worried that her 54 guest wouldn’t fit in the chapel on the Mariner of the Seas that holds 40 people max. Well I fudged the total number of guests and provided our wedding coordinator with a total of 40 and we ended up in the Chapel. I loved the Chapel and everyone fit just fine…. We even had some room to spare. All that worry for nothing. We were using Royal Romance (TWE) to handle the plans and they were not the best but OK in the end. We did the wedding in port in the middle of the cruise. I would recommend this over the stressful departure day. The day before the wedding, we went to the beach and relaxed. It was nice. Few mishaps…. The wedding coordinator that TWE provided was totally crappy. She was a local from Jamaica. First thing… she mixed up the music and played “Here comes the bride†when the ministers went down. I was like “hey, that is my song.†Then she turned it off and played the correct song but the problem was that she never changed the song back for me. So I didn’t get to walk down to “Here comes the bride….†This makes me a little sad when I think about it. Also she kept talking and talking… she became center of attention at my wedding. I hated her for that and will not watch our wedding video because of it. The cake was the wrong cake as well (but it was very yummy, so no problem). She also made my dad make a speech at the wedding when he didn’t want to. I complained about it later to TWE and all they could offer was free photo announcements. I really didn’t need them but I took them. Anyways, I tend to block out that part from my memories because everything else was just AWSOME!!!!! Other than that the wedding and cruise was the best! I loved being a BRIDE…. I LOVED IT!!!!!! I love being a cruise bride. Everyone on the ship was so great. The minister they provided was really great. He had that cool Jamaican accent and a great speaking voice, and was so very nice. After the wedding and reception my husband and I left the ship (in our dress and tux) to get some photos outside and there was a line of people waiting to get on and they all cheered. The Chapel on the ship is so pretty. Our photos were so great (I bought the disk, and sadly I had to pay $1,000 for it but they threw in 5X7s of all 250+ photos they took). We had another reception at home and it was so great. I wish I could do it all again. I was a little nervous about having all of our family members with us on the trip but this was great too. We were so busy and the ship is so big. It made it really nice to pass our people in the halls and find them in the bars, pool, etc. Everyone had such a great time. I was such a nervous wreck about the planning but I was happy and relaxed on my wedding day (my parents were a mess, which makes me laugh to think about it). To Future Cruise Brides….. you are in for the time of your life!!!! Stay relaxed. Go with the flow, enjoy your moment.
  5. Does anyone know of a font that has a Sand Dollar image font included? I'm looking for one for a monogram and I can't find one I like. Please help!
  6. We got married on a cruise. For our AHR we used the names of all the places that we visited for tables instead of numbers. Then we had made bifold cards with the names and pictures from that location inside. We had a sign at the name table that said "Find your destination." It was cute
  7. Ours said something like...... Brian and Stacy are about to depart on a romantic trip that is only the start..... We are getting married! Please join us for a reception when we return at... place and time.
  8. We need ideas for polls on Wedding Website. Our guests are really enjoying the polls on our wedding website. We get so many votes and it is so cool. We have already done the “Who is going to cry first?†“What should the groom wear?†“Where should we honeymoon?†Everyone on this forum is so creative… I’m sure you can give me some ideas for other polls. I'm out of help and could use some new ideas.
  9. I love your Rhyme. We were not so creative.... Here is what we wrote: "Thank You for Sharing Our Special Day. Please Visit the Photo Booth for a Special "One of a Kind" Favor from Brian and Stacy." Then in smaller letters: "Visit the booth as often as you like. It is open from 6:30 to 10:30 this evening. All photos taken from the booth will also be made available for downloading online at www.shutterbooth.com" Like I said... not so creative but it matches our invites and logo and looks nice.
  10. That is so cool! We are getting a photo both for our at home reception and we made a sign for the tables. We got these Peel & Stick Easels from Photofrog that hold 4X6 photos and I made up a sign in Power Point (its cute, matches our reception invites) and made a photograph out of it for the tables. I will post the file later (I don't have it on the computer that I am on now). We are using ShutterBooth for our photo booth. Who are you using? I just think that the photobooth is going to be super cool and I hope everyone has fun with it.
  11. I'm a cruise bride using TWE and would highly recomend for you to use an outside vendor. It will be less expensive, trust me. For us it is too late because we booked it before we realized we had other options but I really wish that we would have went outside.
  12. Great Info. I'm a cruise bride getting married on Royal Caribbean's Mariner of the Seas in October. The price for the packages that were in the article are a little off. I'm sure it is because they just came out with a new brochure but the prices are higher and you get less. I have the details if anyone is interested I will post.
  13. Oh, I love that idea of the Thank you in the sand. I'm totally going to use it. What a wonderful photo!
  14. Scporcelli: Thanks for the update on the chapel on the RC Super Ships. I have been wanting to speak with someone that has been in one. I'm so happy that you said that you think 50 people will fit in the chapel. I have been so worried about it. I'm excited now..... and very excited that you said the chapel was nice.
  15. Princess is the only ship that will let you get married at sea. The other cruise lines will let you get married on the ship but you have to be docked in port. This is so they can bring onto the ship an officiate on to marry you. Yes the ship provides you with a wedding coordinator, but if you want to have a reception after you may just find it less expensive to coordinate with a local wedding coordinator and have it in port on the beach or hotel. The ships charge more for everything, cake, champagne, food, flowers, than the locals.
  16. Try this site for ideas..... The Best Scrapbooking Supplies On The Web - Two Peas in a Bucket Search the Gallery. I use them all the time and they have some amazing layouts. Also save your coupons every week from the paper for Joanne's. Look for sales. I only buy paper and sticker when it is on sale. and if you live in Ohio..... Hollo's PaperCraft Brunswick, OH @ hollos.com Hollo's Paper Craft is amazing. They sell paper by the pound. Really... you weigh it up... $1.00 - $1.50 a pound. You can get alot of paper for just a little. Like I said... if you live in Ohio or close it is worth the drive if you are a scrapbooker. Good Luck!
  17. Oh yes, If you found the Craft Robo for that price... Go for it! I have played with one at a local Scrapbook Shop and I loved it. Actually they are all pretty cool. Good Luck to you!
  18. I know that you said not a Cricut....... but people have been developing software for it that lets you get around using the cartridges. but check out this software... Craft Edge: Scrapbook Software to Cut True Type Fonts and Shapes with Cricut Also, this software is free Inkscape. Draw Freely. and it lets you save it to a file that is will work if you Purchase the Sure Cuts Alot. With both programs you can use the Cricut to design something and then cut it out. I have both. Unfortunatly I didn't have them when I was doing my boarding pass invites but I have have used them for several different cuts that I have designed. Still I would love to have the other cutters but they were way more expensive than I wanted to spend.
  19. Aside from the cost of pictures that seems high, here is the other issue I’m having. We have decided that it would be nice to get married on the ship…. Mainly because we want to be in the air conditioning. We also knew that we didn’t want to get married in the lounge area because I really don’t like the idea of getting wed in a bar. So we booked one of RC super ships so that we could use the Twilight Chapel. The chapel on RC’s bigger ships holds 40 guests. We thought this would be perfect; however we underestimated the draw of a cruise. Now we have over 40 guests going and they are for certain to move our wedding to one of the lounges on the ship. So here is my dilemma… I already paid to have the wedding on the ship. I don’t want to get married in the lounge. If I upgrade to the beach I am going to have to pay more AND… pay an extra $25 per guest for transportation to the wedding site. At this point I would like to cancel with the Royal Romance people and go with a Jamaican wedding planner but I will lose $750 dollars and I really don’t want to cancel unless they move me to a lounge area. However I will not know that for certain until a month before the wedding and at that time, if I cancel I will loose 100% of the cost of the wedding which I had to pay up front. If I go with the beach wedding I’m going to have to pay much more than if I would pay using a local Jamaican wedding planner. Now we are to the point where we don’t want anyone else to book….. And guest what?....... people are still booking and telling us they are going to book. Any Royal Caribbean Cruise brides out there that was married in the Twilight Chapel? Is the maximum capacity really 40 or could we fit about 50 in there?
  20. Thanks so much. I'm having the same issue, trying to figure what to write for the home reception. this certainly helps.
  21. Yes, I agree. I'm already booked for our wedding and I'm planning on getting the CD but not without trying to get them down on the price. I already talked to my FH about what we are going to do with the photographers.... 1. Be really nice. 2. Stress that we don't have alot of money. 3. Worse Case: I'll start crying some and hope they do something for us because they feel sorry for us. Not sure if any of it will work. It is terrible to have to think like that but it is worth a shot. Our problem is that both my FH and I have houses and we are both making morgage payments. His house has been on the market for 6 months. I was wanting to wait until it sold to plan the wedding but he didn't want to wait. Now I want this house to sell so bad so that we can have the wedding we want. I'm sure that everything will turn out the way that we want, it is just now the money is tight so it is hard to think $1000 for the CD. We are getting married on the ship so we have to use their photographers. However if you get married in port you can check with the locals and you may be able to find something less expensive.
