  1. Hi All, Thanks so much for the nice welcome, and thanks to donandcorri for the AMAZING details those were exactly the answers I was looking for. Your pictures are VERY beautiful as well. So did you do the ceremony and a dinner afterwards on the beach as well? Sandra responded to me and said that the road to Tulum for the bike tour was going to be undergoing repairs the week of my wedding. I was so disappointed to hear that. My guests were looking forward to it. Hopefully we will still get to see it. It is one of the main reasons we chose Tulum. We are also thinking about incorporating the breaking of a pinata around the time of the cake. I was thinking it might be a great addition to the festivities. I was reading about the tradition of the pinata in Mexico. It is quite interesting... "In Mexico, the piñata is traditionally shaped like a seven-pointed star. It represents the devil and the seven deadly sins; hitting it with the stick makes him let go of the good things he has taken hold of. The piñata in Mexico is a symbol of hope and of new beginnings." The pinata also derives from China and Spain so I thought it would be a good addition as that is where our origins lie. I figured we might be able to fill it with items the guest might like... any creative ideas? During the wedding day events, does Sandra pretty much direct the events. By all your responses it sounds like Sandra really comes through in the end. I recently returned from a wedding in Japan and the coordination was impeccable. I have guests from Japan coming and I am hoping that we will be able to show them the same hospitality. I am a professional Event Manager for many Hollywood events and it is a lil hard for me to turn over the reigns to someone else and even harder when I am not getting the details I need. amy706 - That is great that you are going down there! I am curious if there are any local stores by the resort just in case we have to get anything last minute and how close is the town? Are you renting a car? We are thinking of renting the car. Did anyone also do room drops or gift bags for their guests? We are trying to think of creative items...maybe local items that we can buy there...Let me know if you you see any thing interesting Amy.... Thanks so much all!!!! Have a great night!
  2. Wow these photos are BEAUTIFUL Annie! Did this photographer come as part of the package or did you hire her on your own? Thanks, Sahara Our Wedding Website
  3. Hello All, I am new to the forum and would love ANYONE's help. Name: Sahara Wedding date: April 10, 2008 Wedding location: Dreams Tulum Wedding Website: Our Wedding Website I am having a wedding coming up at the Dreams Tulum with about 50 people in attendance and I have a couple of questions for brides who were married at the resort... 1. Is is better to choose the Patio Terrace or the Beach? I have never been to the property and I am not sure which would be better, my fiance is leaning toward the Patio because of the hard surface floor and close bathrooms for guests, but I like the idea of the beach with possible tikki tourches and candle light. We will be married at 6PM 2. Did anyone have any guests stay off property? I have about 4 people who will be staying off property and I am wondering if someone could recommend an affordable hotel? 3. Did anyone use the photographers that were a part of the package? How did the photos turn out and the DVD as well? 4. Were the activities at the hotel worthwhile for guests? What were some of the things that your guest were able to do together. 5. Did anyone have a welcome dinner in the World Cafe? How was that? 6. Communication with the Hotel...I am having a hard time getting prompt responses from the Hotel. Did you have all logistics coordinated before you got to the hotel or was it something they discussed with you when you arrived? We will arrive 2 days before the wedding for coordination. 7. How was the music trio? A friend of mine is flying out to play guitar to for the music we request. What type of music did the trio play and at what point in your wedding did they play? 8. Can you give me any insight as to the structure of your ceremony and dinner afterwards? I love this forum already because seeing your writing has enabled me to get more detailed responses from people who have had the experience already. Thanks to anyone who responds.... Sahara
