  1. My TA has been to RIU for weddings. She said you can stand in the gazebo if you're mic'd and have a small enough wedding party.
  2. If you could do it again, would you still go with the arch, or would you use the gazebo? We can't decide. 2 weeks to go!
  3. So, I'm new to this site, but not to the planning...we have a 1pm wedding at ROR. We have the disco booked from 3-5pm for our reception and dinner at mammee bay at 6:30. We are considering a drink bar and snacks on the beach for our guests w/steel drum band while we get our pics...before the 3pm reception. Anyone who is still looking for things to do between the early wedding and dinner, might want to consider the reception in between...that way your shnokered guests aren't leaving the reception early to sneak off for nappy time, because they've been drinking all day. Also that gives you ample time to spend with the new spouse should you be partied out too, or if you've paced yourself...have the last one's standing meet you at the bar after dinner. We just got back from Cabo in October and let me tell you: all-inclusive + 90 degree heat = early bed time (if you're not careful). You also don't want to forget that this is a vacation for your guests too...and if your wedding starts at 12pm and your reception doesn't start until 9pm...they are gonna be exhausted, but feel obligated to attend a late reception. Just a thought. Good luck to everyone! We have 6 more weeks! Its coming up so fast! Heather
  4. Just wondering if anyone who knows about our resort sees any flaw in our plan (is the beach bar always open? is it near the gazebo? what time does the beach party start? will it all work okay?)
  5. Hi, I've been planning my wedding for just under a year. We're happy not to over-do it, which is why we are going to the RIU in Ocho Rios. I keep thinking we should do OOT bags or pay for the extra stuff, but really...neither of us care. We just want to go down there, hop off the plane, fill Chandlynn in on the bizz and enjoy our time together. I have been to a wedding on a cruise ship and it was the bare minimum...but it was just perfect. We have 30 friends and family who are coming with us. Coordinating that was tragic enough. I know they'll be happy just to be on vacation and share our day. Our rehearsal is on Friday...followed by our rehearsal dinner with all of our guests...for us this is enough of a welcome. Anyone who wants to join us, can stay for the beach party. (I don't want to eat up all of their vacation). Our wedding is at 1pm followed by drinks at the beach bar while we're getting our pictures taken(our best friends are our wedding photographers). From 3-5 we meet again at the disco for the reception. Dinner is at 6:30. By then, I think most people will be intoxicated enough, so we'll play it by ear. Sunday, anyone who wants to, can join us for the catamaran cruise that we booked where we are taking our photographers to "trash my dress" www.trashthedress.com in the falls and the ocean and in the foilage. So that's all of it... I've been working on this long enough, I think I'm done. I'm ready to enjoy my day! Heather
