  1. hey ladies - we're thinking of upgrading to the lobster since our guest count is smaller than expected - did anyone happen to have the lobster while at DT? i don't want to spend an extra $20 per person for rubbery lobster...
  2. so we are having our legal ceremony in VA before we leave for our wedding and reception in Mexico. we'd been planning to just do the courthouse thing, but since DI is Jewish I decided to look into "renting a rabbi" to do an interfaith ceremony and a kattubah signing. Well, I found a site "rabbirentals.com" and checked it out and its $652 just for the ceremony!!! Holy crap! Way more than $50 for a reg JOP, so we're just going to do the JOP thing at the courthouse after all! Just had to post cause I was so shocked by the price anyone else in a similar situation?
  3. I've been told a 60" round table seats 8-10, but am thinking that 10 is probably too squished. So would you say 6-8 per 60" table to be comfortable??
  4. NO! Don't take crap from anyone! If you've made it clear you'll understand if they can't join you then that's the best you can do. Sorry - can you tell I'm sick of taking crap from would-be guests Honestly, 8 months is plenty of time and if money/vacation time is an issue, then folks can just graciously decline attending. Please don't let them stress you out or make you feel bad or guilty. It's your wedding, you should do what makes you happy

We're only offering one entree, but we've got a headcount of vegetarians in our group and have arranged with Landy to substitute a pasta entree (penne arabiatta) for those guests at no extra charge.
  6. hey ladies...not sure there is anyone getting married in Jan 09 among you, but i just received the AMResorts "sale" email...$139 per person/night for the month of January at DPA. My guests are paying just over $200 per person/night at DT in January so this sounds like a GREAT deal... might be a good time for a site visit...
  7. i LOVE "i'm yours"...unfortunately my sister called it for her wedding song (even though she's not engaged yet) so we had to find something else
  8. i know that feeling! whenever my mom brings up an objection, it totally stresses me out and makes me doubt my choices. i, too, like the blue accent and agree with the other ladies that it wouldn't distract from your dress. but just in case you need another option, here is the shirt i picked for my dad to wear...white with khaki details... Tommy Bahama - Bogart Camp
  9. Joanna, they are called boudoir pictures...there are TONS of ladies on here who have done them/plan to do them. Do a search for boudoir and you'll see lots of threads and may find a good photog/boutique in your area!

We'll have 40, so I assumed we'd have to buy an additional 20 covers, or will it be 40? Will they set up the chairs for the reception with the bows, also? I know the table cloths are white with white napkins, but we want to bring overlays. Will they put those down on the table for us, along with any centerpieces? One final question... how much is it for colored napkins? Is it worth the additional cost or should we just go with white? I believe you have to pay the $250 set-up fee for the ceremony regardless of what package you choose. This set-up fee include chair covers for ALL your guests at the ceremony and then they will move them to the reception for you. So no, you don't have to worry about an additional charge for chair covers. You have to pay extra for the chair bows, unless you bring them yourself and in that case, they will put them on for free as part of the set-up fee. If you bring your own overlays, they will put them on the tables for you for free, as well. The COLORED napkins are (i believe) $3 each. We are going with the plain white napkins for no extra charge and will be bringing colored menu cards to add a punch of color on top of the white napkins. So for us the cost of adding colored napkins isn't worth it... Hope that helps!!!
  11. I'm with Jac - WOW! You looked amazing!!! Congratulations!!!
  12. Stephanie your videos are lovely! When I spoke with Landy during my site visit, she said there would be a minister conducting our symbolic ceremony in english...I'm hoping that's still the case, as I don't want Landy to be the one conducting our ceremony (folks aren't supposed to know its only symbolic!) and that it will in fact be in english because I wasn't planning on having anyone else up there to translate! I'll have to triple check this with Landy when my time get closer (and she responds to emails)
  13. i just wanted it done so i went ahead and ordered the shirt and pants from Tommy Bahama...wish I'd seen the post about Island Imports first, oh well!!!

I'm working on the ceremony program but not sure what the order is and what the minister will say. Also, has anyone gotten a response from ANY WC about details and such. I leave in less than two weeks and have several questions but they (as usual) don't answer. I wrote our whole ceremony last month...took me about three hours. I'll post it if you want to see it. Landy told me to just send it a month in advance so the minister could read it over and ask any questions/suggest/request changes. Someone asked about the seaside grill reception - yes we are paying the $750 fee.
  15. hey ladies...i need to buy my dad's clothes for the wedding...was thinking Tommy Bahama style, but TB is pretty pricey (the short sleeve dress shirt I liked is $200). Any suggestions where I can find something similar or should I just bite the bullet and spend $500 on his whole outfit (mind you my gown was only $700)? I'm in VA and its winter, so the stores don't even have decent cruise wear let alone summer atttire...
  16. i don't, but my little sister (who is 26) still has her blankie...it was passed down from my older sister, to me, to her when she was born. when she's stressed, she wraps it around her head like a turban, it's freakin hilarious - I'm going to see if I can find a pic of that, I know i took one when we were in college
  17. YAY Karma - congratulations! She is absolutely gorgeous
  18. I just ordered my organza chair bows and table overlays this morning. My colors are navy blue and tropical green, so i'm using navy bows and table overlays for the ceremony/reception (with a green overlay on the cake table) and then green overlays and bows for the handful of tables/chairs during the cocktail hour. I ordered a total of 85 organza chair bows and 12 table overlays (72x72 for 60" round tables) for $188...not bad considering if I went with the resort's option it would have been WAY more I ordered from efavormart.com I also just did my table seating chart and think it'll work out great...so excited! It's getting SO close and I'm starting to stress...still have to buy the shirts for the groomsmen, my dad's outfit, my jewelry and veil, FI's shoes, and the reception dinner menus. I'm shopping tonight for the shirts/outfits, shoes, and jewelry and will do the menus this weekend. Veil is another issue... Also need to figure out wedding party/parent gifts and what we want to do in terms of welcome bags, cigar roller, pashminas...and then also the seating cards (we're wrapping electric tealights with vellum with the people's name and table on the vellum) then it'll just be shopping for the wedding and honeymoon wardrobe oh yea, and lose 10lbs
  19. congrats Jill - that's such a sweet story, i love it! also, i love that you're the kind of girl that brings an US weekly and a bottle of champagne for a few casual hours at the beach...that's fabulous! happy wedding planning!
  20. callie - we are planning a cocktail party on the lobby terrace with light refreshments and drinks as a welcome event - we are going to hand out all of our OOT/welcome gifts at this time and play music with a mexico theme (which means a lot of country music because those are mostly the songs that mention mexico ). We were planning to have the rehearsal dinner in the buffet at 8pm the night before our wedding, but I'm somehow finding more money in my budget than I originally planned (because none of my friends are coming) so I'm now thinking we may rent out an entire restuarant for a more reasonable time like 6pm. I need to check this with Landy though as I'm not sure its possible anymore...we could always do it in one of the ballrooms but that seems weird to me - too formal. Maybe we'll just do it on the beach...that might be nice. Don't mind me, i'm just so excited that DT is for sure and i can picture everything in my head again that i'm going crazy with possibilities
  21. i'm so sorry sweetie - that totally blows! but don't get down, you have plenty of time to find your perfect dress...just get out there and start trying them on. at each bridal shop i went to, they would have given me the option of buying the sample i tried on it i really wanted/needed it instead of ordering a new one and with a few month to go, there's plenty of time to alter any dress to work for you. def post your dress for sale on the forum...looking at the pic online, i'd be interested in buying it just for my TTD session!
  22. it looks lovely with your figure...and if you're definitely wanting to go the non-traditional route i think this would work well for a beach wedding.
