Yea! Happy Legal Day!!!

What happens during the legal courthouse ceremony?
neen replied to MarieSam's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
We are getting legally married next week at one of the Virginia government centers. We reserved a private room there and it'll just be the JOP and the two of us (VA doesn't require witnesses). You do not have to exchange rings at the legal ceremony, it is a personal choice. We are NOT going to exchange rings - we're saving that for the ceremony in Mexico with all our friends and family. The JOP said our ceremony is only 5-10 minutes and basically a declaration of intentions and generic vows, then signing of the papers. -
WORST...SEAMSTRESS..EVER!!! (Pics)

i thought i might have been over-reacting and being too detail oriented at first, but i'm glad you ladies see it too, makes me feel a little less crazy! -
Casey's 1st Fitting Pics!!!
neen replied to *Casey*'s topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
you look gorgeous in that dress! woo-hoo! brooch or no brooch, i think it's fabulous... -
so i went for my final fitting this afternoon and was planning to bring my dress home finally (for the second time), but no, the seamstress is appartently blind as a bat and after having taken out the dress from the zipper and the sides didn't bother to make sure she sewed it back together properly so the detailing matched...it seriously took my 20 minutes to make her see that it wasn't "just fine" the way it was!!! pic of detail when dress came in: after seamstress (see how the pieces of chiffon don't align at the top of the dress??) side of dress detail when it came in: after the seamstress: Apparently it'll be fixed by Friday, but seriously!!!

Was talking with FI last night and he wants me to put together a list of "other things to do and see in RM" for our guests. My internal response was DO IT YOURSELF, but we both know he never would anyway so its on my plate Anyway, wondering if anyone has already put this together for their guests so I can just copy it (Visit the resort lobby to set up trips to shopping in Tulum/Playa Del Carmen, Chitchen-Itza, Cenotes, Scuba/Snorkeling, Xel-Ha, etc.) I'm so not into re-creating the wheel today. TIA!

January 2009 Brides Post Here
neen replied to Dez921714's topic in General Wedding Planning Information
hehe - I pretty much just share news of items being delivered and decisions being made on here too because FI has a wedding filter on his hearing these days I just figured out what i'm doing with my hair for the wedding on sunday and it was a HUGE relief. i feel like we're almost there with everything! i just need to pull together some photos for the parents gifts, so hoping to take some good shots over the holidays. oh, and i ordered a photo mosiac (picture made up of lots of tiny pictures) for my mom's bridal party gift, so that was the last thing on THAT list i'm getting so freaking excited i can hardly sit still these days! -
Thanks lady! I'm getting SOOO excited now...i've done a bunch of small projects this weekend and i figured out how i'm doing my hair and bought my veil and pranced around the house in it for a good hour this afternoon...yes, i'm a dork, but no one was home but the cat so its OK I can't wait to post my planning thread...I'm going to do that after we get back from Connecticut for the holidays... how is everyone else coming along?

i think guests are generally happy to comply to any request and telling them what to wear may even make it easier for them, so i wouldn't worry too much. you could always include "Attire: Shades of White" on your invitation or as a separate insert in your invitation with more detail "We are dreaming of a white wedding, so please consider wearing shades of white, tan, beige, (etc) when selecting your attire"...

Still Selling my Size 6 Wedding Dress!!
neen replied to sstotz's topic in Buy / Sell / Trade Archives
is that street size six or wedding dress size six (read: size 0)? -
i agree Chinatown in NYC is the best bet, but making a trip isn't an option (i live in virginia so it wasn't for me) i found $6 pashminas on amazon (acrylic/viscose, not real cashmere)

One month to go...and we just had a HUGE fight!
neen replied to neen's topic in Just venting or funnies
yeah, i'm feeling better now having vented...and most of the wedding stuff is what i want, not him, so you're right. but it would be nice to not have to worry about the groomsmen gifts or the honeymoon at the end of the day -
how fun! i love your inspiration pics for tablescapes!!!

FI and I are headed to Hawaii after our wedding in Mexico. We're staying 12 nights on two different islands in 4 star resorts. We used points for one of our flights and 4 nights on Kuaui and have budgeted a total of $7500 for the rest - hotel, interisland air, car, food, ect (though we may blow that out of the water depending on what activities and restuarants we happen upon...would be nice to have some sort of plan for our trip, but FI is in charge of that so that's not happening yet)

our wedding is exactly one month away and FI just had a big screaming match. Is that normal? I'm stessed at work, I'm stessed about christmas shopping (which I've done for his family and mine), I'm stressed about getting all the details and printing and gifts and organizing done for the wedding (all of which I'm taking care of) and FI has been playing videogames from the time he gets home til he goes to bed for the last week. He had exactly 4 things to do for the wedding: book our honeymoon (I did it because he dragged his feet until well into September!), pick our first dance song (I did it because he dragged his feet until October), pick/order groomsmen gifts (still not done), figure out what we're doing on our honeymoon (hasn't even been started!). So I'm nagging him and cranky everyday for the last week and I guess he's had enough of that and picked a fight. I'm not worried in the least that he doesn't love me or doesn't want to marry me. I am just worried that its not good that we had a big fight so close to our wedding date. I get that I'm feeling underappreciated, I just want to know I'm not the only one in this kind of situation...

Amy you're the best, thanks so much for answering my questions!!! I just received my planning docs from Anabel...it feels so real now! I'm getting projects done at warp speed now - can't wait to post my planning thread in a couple weeks OH - one other question...and Stephanie's new update would/will likely help with this, but before its up I'm wondering if anyone has used the beach location by the activities hut (as opposed to the beach location next to seaside grill)? Since Sblake is having her ceremony by Seaside Grill at 3pm and DJ Mannia is going to be setting up and doing sound checks at 4pm (when my ceremony is) I'm wondering if maybe I should just have my ceremony on the other side of the beach...i don't think i even checked it out when i was there for my site visit in July so i can't remember what that end looks like...

congrats Niels408!! can't wait to hear all about it and see pics so excited to hear i don't have to pay an extra fee for DJ Mannia - that made my day. new question - the iPod docking stations in the rooms...are they standard iPod docks only or will a mini/nano work with them? FI and I both have Nanos and Minis, but no regular size iPod so I need to know if I have to borrow one or if ours will work...we're using it for our welcome cocktail hour a couple days before the wedding... also - if we have a big group going to the ruins, how do the taxis work? will the resort call a certain number of them? will there be a taxi line at the ruins for when we're ready to go back to the resort? thanks ladies!!! PS - I'm FINALLY getting really excited (and really stressed)
