  1. i'm totally not a cryer and I've actually NEVER seen FI cry so I'm thinkin we'll get through it dry-eyed. We are doing a tribute to his mom though (who passed away) so we shall see...

And it's not that I'm not freaking out, its just that I don't think that would accomplish much and my wedding is still three months away. I'm one of the lucky ones who has a really supportive family and a great FI who all agree that our wedding day will be amazing no matter what happens, so I'm just going with the flow here. If we get moved, we'll deal...I still get to spend time with my friends and family and marry the best guy on earth so I can't really complain. I know I probably sound a little too zen to be true, believe me I've had my moments. I'm just not letting myself get crazed anymore, it takes away from all the fun! To avoid anyone hating me for being too calm, I have other problems that you won't be jealous of...like my wedding dress came in and actually fits, but its the wrong color! And they can't order a new one because it won't arrive on time, so I just have to deal. So everything isn't rosy, but what can you do! SDTOOLEY - We're using Claudia Rodriguez, as well, and she's been such a gem to work with so far so I'd recommend her!
  3. i didn't want to do a real slow song with my dad so i've been looking at different options. since my friends call my dad 'pistol pete' because he's a total gun-toter and has all daughters (no sons), i'm thinking we're going to dance to rodney atkins "cleaning this gun" hahha brown eyed girl is also a contender
  4. I was originally planning on using Somewhere Over the Rainbow for my processional, but couldn't decide on a recessional song. So then I flipped it - now I'm using "You're So Cool" for my processional and Somewhere Over the Rainbow will now be our recessional...yea! If you haven't heard "you're so cool" is the theme from True Romance and very beachy IMO: YouTube - True Romance # You're so cool! - Hans Zimmer
  5. good luck carina! can't wait to hear all about it (and see pics) when you get back! have a blast!!!
  6. So we are using the traditional seven blessings in our ceremony and I'm wondering how to word the intro for the minister. Are the blessings offered to GOD or to the bridegroom and bride Meaning, should it be: It is Jewish custom to offer 7 blessing to/for (??) on the wedding day. So and so will now offer these blessing: ... (if you can't tell, I'm not the jewish one in my duo!)
  7. OMG...90something days away...crazy! haven't checked in in awhile and haven't done much lately (oops!)
  8. Gorgeous! I SOOO wanted to have my wedding at sunset de mona lisa (i knew right away from the pics that's where you were!) but cabo was too far for folks to travel...can't wait to see pro pics!!! congrat
  9. i'm psyched to change to my name because no one can spell it! i'm so sick of the "F as in frank, a, V as in victor..." every time I have to give my name for an appointment or reservation. that said, its totally a mild identity crisis and i'm thinking of making my maiden name my middle name...would totally sound funny if i ever gave my full name to someone then, but at least it would still be a part of me! have you thought of that as an option?
  10. i got all teary eyed just reading that, i'm SO sorry...that is just terrible. i know i said this last time, but i would totally devastated if we lost our kitty...big hugs, honey!!!
  11. i ordered my dress one size smaller and believe me, it NOT worth the stress! order the dress in the size you are now!!! i've worked my butt off (literally - 4 inches!!) and have lost 12 pounds, but turns out none of it was in my ribcage so my dress is still tight. i have two more months before my final fitting to lose more weight, but short of having a rib removed, its not going to help. there is room in my dress to let it out and fit, but barely, so honestly, i strongly urge you to order the dress in your current size! you never know what will happen and where the weight will come from so just play it safe

If I remember this whole thing with deposit came up a while back and most of us were told that as long as we had a confirmation number we were fine. I emailed her back and asked when she needed this by and to date have had no responce from her. The email I received from her was on 10/4 asking for the money and I sent her a very quick responce back as $500 is not something that is just hanging around my FI and my bank acount. Just wondering if anyone else has gotten an email form any of the WC at the resort or if I was just the lucky bride to have received. When I told my FI he was not very happy! I'm getting married at DT on 1/17 and I didn't receive an email asking for a deposit, so that's odd...I would follow what the other ladies have said - reply telling her this policy was not in effect when you booked, but that you'll be happy to pay it once all this legal business is taken care of!
  13. you could bastardize the words from Tim McGraw's "In My Next 30 Years"...
  14. We just picked our first dance song and I'm so excited! This was FI's job, but he dragged his feet for 7 months...7 MONTHS!!! So I got frustrated and started an endless search for the perfect song...but without much luck. Then FI finally spent 20 minutes one night putting together a list of maybe 10 songs and told me I could pick from them and there is was - we'll be dancing to "Forever in Blue Jeans" the Jason Castro version because we're both total American Idol nuts and LOVED him last season. It was so funny too, because FI and I both knew right away it'd be the song, but it took us forever to get there. Anyway, I'm excited now and listen to it all the time. Here's a link to it on youtube if you haven't heard it. Def a bit tough to dance to, but we're going to take lessons so we can throw in a few moves YouTube - Jason Castro - forever in blue jeans Studio Version
  15. I think the initial disappointment has worn off...I'm going to go back and try it on all done up like y'all have suggested and I think I'll be happy with. I'll post pics of me in it once I do and see what you think
  16. LOVE the new cut and the color suits you beautifully! I think you made a good decision...now remember to get it trimmed every 6 weeks or so to keep it healthy because no matter how long or short, healthy hair always looks FAB!
  17. YAY Trish - the Paradisus is beautiful so I know your wedding is going to be FABULOUS! Have a wonderful time & enjoy every minute! Can't wait to hear all about it when you get back!!!!
  18. unfortunately this designer doesn't do rush orders... i'm going to go back this weekend and try it on again and hope that i'm happier this time around. the bonus of having it in white is that i already have shoes and a veil to match courtesy of my sister and FSIL i guess i'm just wondering if others have grown to love their dress after initially not being thrilled with it...?
  19. My wedding dress came in last week and I went to try it on on Saturday. When I put it on and stepped out in front of the mirrors I knew something was wrong because I wasn't teeming with excitement, but I couldn't figure out the problem until my sister said..."i didn't realize you ordered it in white". I'm all "huh? what are you talking about". Turns out when I tried it on it was ivory, but i didn't realize it and ordered the WRONG COLOR! damn it damn it damn it!!! I LOVE this dress, but I really wish it was ivory Normally, I'd re-order, but it won't come in until the week before my wedding and it will need some alterations and I don't think I could deal with the stress of not having my wedding dress until RIGHT before we leave for Mexico. So, my options are: - keep it in white and just get used to it - buy the sample from the store that is 6 sizes too big and have it cleaned and altered I cried a lot yesterday because I was so disappointed that I didn't LOVE my dress, but today I'm starting to feel like I shouldn't sweat the small stuff...except that I feel like my wedding dress isn't SMALL STUFF!!! The lace just looks so much more natural in ivory than bright white, KWIM? What would you do Oh - sorry I don't have any pics of me in the dress, but here it is on the model in ivory...not the shockingly bright white that I have
  20. I don't think you should worry about paying for your bridal party. That said, as my gift to my bridesmaids (my sisters) I paid for their airfare, but not out of our wedding budget, and for FI's groomsmen we bought their attire. We also split the cost of one of FI's sisters travel/lodging because they have 6 kids and we wanted them all to be there, so we thought it was only right.
  21. LOVE it!!! It looks gorgeous on you...congrats on finding the (other) one!!! my dress is actually very similar to yours and was the 2nd of 15 dresses I tried on. i knew right away it was the one, but want the dress shopping experience to last longer so I kept throwing them on and prancing around
  22. oh lordy, that's not really helpful is it? haha, i just wrote oh lordy...i don't think i've ever said that before in my life!!!
  23. OMG Trish...I LOVE your planning thread!!! (thanks stephanie for posting the link here!). I adore your invitations - its a good thing i JUST sent mine out on Monday or else I'd be tempted to toss them and start over to have ones like yours, that's how much I love them!!! And all your welcome bag/gifts are fantastic. and the CAKE BOXES...I want those now too!!! great job, I'm so excited for you!!!! (even if the big day doesn't wind up being at DT) P.S. I heart your dress...I remember seeing it before, but don't think I realized it was yours...its fab and you look amazing in it...now thats one thing that FOR SURE won't change
