  1. Okay, new word for my vocab, used by a colleague to describe a meeting: Moronothon ie., call my cell phone in about 45 minutes. I'm going to some moronothon on corporate governance. LOVE that. It's pretty much every single day at work...
  2. Me too, I'll help if I can. I can run a pretty mean regression if needed...
  3. Betsy those are so beautiful!! I can't believe you did those all by yourself!
  4. You can very easily get a cab from the hotel. There's usually a line of them. I don't know about pricing, but I'm sure most of it is negotiable. Melissa - have you looked into Vanessa Vargas? She has an unlimited day of photography for $2500 (plus the $300 outside vendor fee), includes 200 prints and a CD of "selected" prints - you can buy a CD of all of them for $200, plus an online gallery. I don't have a price for the TTD, but a 2 hr session is $850. She's the only one of the 5 I reached out to that had an "unlimited" option. Here's what she sent me: wedding packages riviera maya 2008.pdf
  5. Maura: I am so glad everything turned out okay. I wasn't on at all yesterday afternoon and just jumped on now and was panicking! Silly, silly boys! Nothing more from my dad. I assumes that means he got it. We've spoken a few times since "the exchange" and it hasn't come up. Just as well. If he wants to fuss over it, I'm turning my mom, my sister and my brother loose on him. They've all been briefed and can't believe it.
  6. With regard to the signing, whose name do you want on the document? Think hard about it and you'll know. With regard to who walks out with the BM, how about one on each arm? Problem solved and BM looks like a chic magnet!

Wow, Morgan! That would be so wonderful!!! I promise to take great care of it and send it on to Lisa with plenty of time to spare. Thank you SO much for you very, very generous offer! That being the case, I have one (white) that will be available from late April forward!
  8. Oh I just LOVE this idea! Such a great, special concept. I'm ordering mine today, but I would love to have a borrowed starfish! If anyone has one they wouldn't mind sharing, I'll gladly send my new one to another bride. And I PROMISE you'll have it back all safe and sound!
  9. Morgan - I'm so sorry you lost your stereo. But your attitude is amazing!! Fugitive... hee!!!
  10. Send out the STD first - with just enough info to get them started - location, date, TA info (if you have one), and your website. Save your formal invites for closer to the date - 3-4 months prior is probably good. You can always send out a newsletter or something between the STD and the formal invite, just as a reminder.
  11. Too bad! Have you just tried calling the store? Nordstrom's customer service is outstanding. They will find you the suit you want - looking nationwide if need be, and mail it to you. Sometimes, if they don't have it at your local store, they'll mail it to you for free.
  12. Well, the good news is that the coloring they are using in the beer is probably water soluble... if you can get to it before it dries. Um... shout wipes anyone?

When they say 10 feet. They mean 10 FEET!! I bought something like this thinking oh, 10 feet, so if I'm snorkeling, and I dive down to take a picture of the pretty coral formation "right down there" it will be fine. Nope. Cracked the casing, ruined it, ruined the memory card, everything. And the store wouldn't take it back because I'd taken it to about 12 feet. A deep swimming pool can actually damage it. You're much better off with the casing that Jean Marcus suggests - it will go to 25-50 feet depending what you buy, which is good enough for any snorkeling, and if you get a 50-footer should work for shallow scuba trips.
  14. By the way, if you're sending things overseas, the USPS has the perfect stamp for DWs!! I actually saw these and thought about using them for all my postage, but stuck with the hearts for the domestic mail. But SO pretty!
  15. Of course it will be a good wedding planning week!!!! I'm working on photography this week. Good news is that most everyone seems to have some availability. Yay! How much time are you booking with your photogs? I'm thinking I need 6 hours (ugh!). I want getting ready photos, a few pictures before the ceremony of FI and I around the resort, the ceremony, the cocktail hour, cake cutting and a little bit of the begining of the reception (after dinner) We have 2 hours for dinner (in L'Hermitage), which I don't really want photos of - who wants photos of people eating - and we aren't doing toasts or anything during that time. The problem is that I believe all of the time is consecutive - even if we invite them to have dinner with us. So in order to get photos of the reception, I've got to have them there for the whole time. Not pleased with the idea of the extra $700-$1000 it will cost me, but I don't know what else to do! Do you guys have any great ideas? FI thinks maybe we let them go after the cocktail hour and just give everyone disposables for the reception, but the photos might be SO bad, and I want a few good photos of me dancing with my sweetheart!
  16. I was in a bit of the same issue - 5 best girlfriends, sister, brother's wife, FI's 2 sisters, 3 nieces... It was almost to the point that anyone female would be standing up for me. So we went with plan b and have none. I'm not totally wild about it, but I'm fine with it. And not having to make choices is SO nice!!
  17. Hi Jeanne: I was told $450 for the entire night for the sound system. Not sure what information is correct. Really, the best thing to do is to call. My experience has been that if you call, you will get a response right away. It's pricey, but it will put your mind to rest. Also, to the extent you have the ability to put all your questions in one e-mail (as opposed to several different ones with a few questions in each, she will sit down and respond to all the questions. Also, when I'm in a hurry, I copy Perla too. Seems to get the answers.
  18. Did she give you any pricing? Yes, I just saw that Nathaniel selected Chris and I as "finalists" so exciting!! Crossing my fingers. But someone's getting married in Positano - um, how could you not choose that one??
  19. On the centerpieces - if you look at my review, there are photos of some very pretty shell-shaped vases that the PRC has on their own - a couple of flowers in each (bigger, like lilies) is enough, and should keep costs down. Carlos still hasn't gotten back to me about what to do on the insurance requirements. $30 for the table linens? What does that cover? The overlay only? Or the overlay and the chair bows and whatever else. If its just the overlay, you're probably better off going to a fabric store and getting some nice tulle or cheap organza and carrying it down on your own. Just get the measurments you need. (A store that sells upholstry fabric will have this in wide widths that will work as a tablecloth).
  20. If you don't have a duplex printer (meaning one that prints one side, then reverses the pages and prints the other on it's own), then just print the odd numbered pages, turn them over and print the other sides. If you printer takes the top page first (most do) you'll need to re-order your pages so that the first page is on the bottom (face up). Or, you can do what I do... print all of the first pages, then reverse and print all of the second pages, then the third, etc. Then just collate and you're off and running.
  21. Hi Paris! I just think you're soooo totally amazing and love everything you say and do! I totally wanna be your bff! We could go clubbing together, and shopping together, and pandering to a bunch of lovestruck men! We would just have the super best time EVER! And then, after about 10 minutes in your company, the homicide detectives would show up, and tell me that I was free to go because it was totally justifiable. Who DOES this?!
  22. Yay! Happy birthday! I'm sure it will be great!
  23. So, I just finished an e-mail to a friend and realized its full of a bunch of my favorite non-words. I'm sure we all have a few good ones, so lets share! A few of mine: fuckwit - made popular by Bridget Jones - anyone annoying, obnoxious, or otherwise ticking you off. snarky - ala catty, but somehow more dismissive and yet not unfriendly. ooky - like icky, but not as repulsive TMI - pronounced tee em eye - too much information
