  1. Hi Danielle: There's a JAM around the corner from my office. If I can get out of the office before they close, I'll pop by this week and see if I can find a manufacturer's name on them (sometimes they are embossed on the plastic). Hopefully that will give you some other places to look.
  2. Yay Heidi!!!! Everything looks so amazing!!! I'm sure you're stressed and all right now, but from what I can tell (hair aside - and that will be fixed as soon as you post your poll!) it looks like you've got everything under control. Good on you!! By the way, I LOVE Shel Silverstein. Hug o' War is perfect!!!
  3. DON'T DO YOUR OWN CENTERPIECES!!! Sorry. I saw your note and just panicked! I can't tell you how many weddings I've been in or around where people decide to do their own centerpieces and they either end up staying up until the crack of dawn and are exhausted for their weddings, or they don't get them done just right and are unhappy all night while they look at them. My suggestion - if the prices are too high, then make every other table a small arrangement. Or use more greenery and just a few great big (lillies, amaryllis, etc) blooms.
  4. Yay Martha!!! So exciting!!
  5. I love the straw bag!!! I've had both canvas and straw and I love the straw - anything you do with it feels connected to the beach. The canvas is nice, and may be more practical in some ways, but the straw just has that little something!!
  6. YAY!!! New place!!! Make Jose lift all the heavy stuff. And come back soon!!!
  7. I've moved cross country 3 times now. It's not that bad. The key is to just get organized. My first tip: Start packing now - I know it seems weird, but there are things that you won't use or can live without between now and then. Think about Xmas stuff, extra linens, dishes, etc. Second, get a mover - the time of year will make it more expensive, but have someone give you a binding estimate. The good news is you're moving from NYC so you won't have that much stuff. They can store it for you for a week or more when it arrives, but it's going to take at least a week to get it to SD in the first place, so you can time it pretty well. Third - If you can't find someone locally to take your wedding stuff down with them, ship it to SD. Find someone who can receive a couple of boxes in SD (a friend, the sister of a friend, anyone). If you run out of options, one of my best friend's mom and sister there and I am sure they'll sign for a couple of boxes for you. That way it's there, waiting and no worries. Alyssa's idea about writing down the contents of EVERY box is a good one. I tend to number mine - and I know then that (a) all the boxes are there and ( I open the last box packed first - because it will have the stuff you need the most. I'll offer help in any way I can - I'm here in NYC, too. So if you need a hand, count on mine.
  8. Sorry... what do you mean when you say "other web sites"?
  9. Hi Alyssa: Fingers are really, really tightly crossed that all works out for the new venue!!!! I think a phone call would be great. And then follow it up with a mailing of some variety. By the way (and forgive me if it's still too soon for comic relief) I'd like to place an order for one of your old OOT bags - with the location crossed out and the new venue handwritten in with a big black sharpie marker. And the words "BDW Brides Conquer All" written below. You've been SO good to all of us. Let me know how I can help.
  10. So, I just got a note from our TA. The Paradisus is going to comp our room (standard garden view) when we go down for our site visit. Woo hoo! Still haven't heard from Mannia about being our DJ - I don't know if they've yet connected with Swank. I'm so glad to hear that you feel positively about them Michele. If I can't get things worked out with Mannia, I guess we'll use Swank. Have you talked with them at all about a package that's less than 4 hours? We are thinking about the jazz trio for the cocktail hour, and since we're having dinner inside, we'll only need the DJ after dinner.
  11. I have a cute (and really comfy) pair for the reception, and a pair of white old navy flip flops for the ceremony in the sand specifically because I was afraid the sand might be hot. Here are the reception shoes - I got them at my dress shop, but they are at Dyeable Shoes Online | Wedding Shoes | Bridal Shoes | Prom Shoes And these are my ceremony shoes if the sand is hot - old navy:
  12. If you can get linen, a linen/cotton or a linen/silk blend, he'll be much happier (cooler). But be careful - a linen/rayon blend (and they are everywhere) is NOT what you want.
  13. Sarah, you are gorgeous and FI is going to be absolutely speechless. Your book is WONDERFUL! Now... do me just one favor and don't ever tell my FI. You've set standards that I could never meet with a year's worth of photoshopping.
  14. Hi Yari: I'm with Alyssa. I get what you're saying about them being just a little blah. And honestly the justify doesn't do anything for me. I LOVE (love, love, love, love, love!!!) what Morgan and Sarah came up with. I say re-do the main page, and as Alyssa suggested change the tab on the front to match the script-y font. From there, they will be absolutely fantastic. Wish I lived closer, because I'd totally be outside your front door with a glue stick and a bottle of wine waiting to help you get them done!!!
  15. Oh no!!! I am so sorry! And what a spot it puts you in! I've got lots of card stock (white) if you opt to make something yourself and save the costs. And a really nice color laser printer, too!
  16. I was in Puerto Morelos in February (at the Paradisus) and the beaches were in good shape.
  17. Too funny! I'm totally going to have to remember this! I can't wait until the next time someone says to me "you lived in LA... what's a good hotel in Cabo?"
  18. When you download the fonts, you need to move the .ttf file to your fonts folder. 99% of the time, it's in C:/Windows/Fonts. Just drag them over from wherever you saved them to when you downloaded them. You'll know they are loaded, because you'll get a pop-up saying "loading 3 (or whatever) fonts." You may have to close whatever you're working on and re-open to have the fonts come thru. To move the images to the back, right-click on the image, hit "order" and then hit "move to back", or "move backward" if you use backward, you may have to do it several times.
  19. Awww. That is the cutest EVER!
  20. Congratulations!!! I am soooo happy for you!
