DJ: Mannia Cancun review

Personally, my experience is that the Mexican chefs do amazing things with pork. Chicken, when you break it down, is pretty much always chicken. However, any chance you're going to have any jewish guests that keep Kosher, or Kosher-ish?

I also need to start my save the dates and work on our monogram, so I will definitely be checking out Allurements by Rebecca! Happy planning you guys and I look forward to sharing ideas with all of you. Yay August 2010 Brides!!!!! Misty Aww, thanks you guys! On the mongrams, you would order something and I would send you a jpg of your mongram that you can use on all of your stuff. I've actually got a big batch of new monograms that I need to post. But BDW is so much more fun than HTML code! You're going to have such great weddings. August really is spectacular!

I don't know the ROR's photographers at all, but I think it's pretty common for photos to take 6-8 weeks, sometimes longer. Have you reached out to them and just checked in to see what the status is?

Beautiful flowers Kenya!!! You're getting so close! Are you getting excited yet?

You can find the background paper by googling "corrugated cardstock" - it's not too hard to find. Velum paper is pretty easy to work with - just be sure to get paper that works with your printer - ink jet velum is different than laser velum. And if you do laser, set the printer to a glossy paper finish, and you're set! Good luck!

I wouldn't totally give up on discountmugs. I used them, and while they did have to re-do the order (printed in the wrong color), they fixed it and expressed shipped the new ones. And I still use some of my leftover mugs in the pool, and there's been no problem with the ink. Ours were printed on plastic travel mugs that had a stainless steel interior. But, let the salesperson know what your intention is (having them in a pool)and have them steer you to the right cup. To me, the thing about the size of the logo could be a problem, but just get them to tell you in writing what the size of the print will be. If it's too small, look elsewhere. But their prices are good, the minimums aren't a problem. Just handle your order, sample, etc. with care, give yourself plenty of time in case there's a problem and you should be fine. Good luck!

Home Depot or Lowe's??
becks replied to avb1983's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
Oh but I LOVE me some DIY!! First of all, please, I beg you, don't include registry stuff in your invites!!!! It is a HUGE faux pas. It's fine to put it on your website (with the disclaimer of "your presence is all we could ask for"), but not in your invites. As far as how to "register", both actually have a registry: For home depot, just go to (or open) your account, and there's an option for registry. I don't know how you do it for Lowe's, but I've bought items there from a registry, so you should be able to find it. good luck! -
Aw, thanks Karima! I was actually just popping in to say hi to all the August 2010 brides from an August 2008 bride when I saw your post. Hi August 2010 brides!!!! Getting married in August 2008 was fabulous! Good luck with all your planning!

I very frequently put the "formal invite to follow" on the second (or last) page of a boarding pass STD. That way it doesn't detract from the excitement of the message being delivered. Also, these days, you hardly need to include it at all because the STD has become such a common thing. When they were less common, people added it to make sure that the recipient knew that there would be a formal invite. I've also had clients specifically tell me NOT to include it, simply because they won't be sending formal invites to those who confirm that aren't going to come. So, any way you go, I think you're covered!

I may have found my dress!!!!
becks replied to CaraW's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
Gorgeous dress Cara! I got mine hemmed for my heels, but then ended up barefoot pretty much the whole time. I figured it would drag a bit in the sand during the ceremony, but it had a train anyway, so what was a little more? -
Love that! Here's my doggie dictionary that a friend just sent: LEASH: A strap which attaches to your collar enabling you to lead your person where you want him/her to go DOG BED: Any soft, clean surface, such as the white bedspread in the guest room or the newly upholstered couch in the living room. DROOL: A liquid which, when combined with sad eyes, forces humans to give you their food. To do this properly you must sit as close as you can and get the drool on the human. SNIFF: A social custom used to greet other dogs, similar to the human exchange of business cards. GARBAGE CAN: A container which your neighbors put out once a week to test your ingenuity. You must stand on your hind legs and try to push the lid off with your nose. If you do it right you are rewarded with margarine wrappers to shred, beef bones to consume, and moldy crusts of bread. BICYCLES: Two-wheeled exercise machines, invented for dogs to control body fat. To get maximum aerobic benefit, you must hide behind a bush and dash out, bark loudly, and run alongside for a few yards. The person then swerves and falls into the bushes and you prance away. DEAFNESS: This is a malady which affects dogs when their person wants them in and they want to stay out. Symptoms include staring blankly at the person, then running in the opposite direction or lying down. THUNDER: This is a signal that the world is coming to an end. Humans remain amazingly calm during thunderstorms so it is necessary to warn them of the danger by trembling uncontrollably, panting, rolling your eyes wildly, and following at their heels. WASTEBASKET: This is a dog toy filled with paper, envelopes, and old candy wrappers. It is important to evenly distribute its contents throughout the house before your person comes home. BATH : If you find something especially good to roll in, humans get jealous and they use this degrading form of torture to get even. Be sure to shake only when next to a person or a piece of furniture. LEAN: Every good dog's response to the command 'sit!,' especially if your person is dressed for an evening out. Incredibly effective before black-tie events. BUMP: The best way to get your humans attention when they are drinking a fresh cup of coffee or tea. GOOSE BUMP: A maneuver to use as a last resort when the regular bump doesn't get the attention you require, especially effective when combined with the sniff (see above). CHILDREN: Short humans of optimal petting height. Standing close to one assures some good petting. When running, they are good to chase. If they fall down, they are comfortable to sit on. LOVE: A feeling of intense affection, given freely and without restriction. The best way you can show your love is to wag your tail. If you're lucky, a human will love you in return.

Getting the pages in proper order is tricky! My suggestion is to cut a piece of notebook paper into 4, fold each one in half and stack them to make them into a booklet. The go through and number each page and write on the pages what is supposed to be on each one. When you're done, you can take it apart, and see what is supposed to be next to what, and printed on the back of what. As far as paper - use a heavy cardstock (100# or more) for the cover, and a heavier weight page (at least 28#, 35# if you can find it) for the insides. Good luck!

Yay!!!!!!! Good on ya! I wish you'd taken a picture of her shock when you told her that! Probably looked like a fish with her mouth opening and closing and nothing coming out. And even if she didn't, that's what I'm imagining! Congrats!

I have to agree. Do not involve her in your planning. Best case, she's going to be super critical and make you really unhappy. Worst case, she'll sabotage something. There is no upside there. On the other hand, if she decides to try and make amends and reaches out to offer assistance, let her have something to do - like typing up address labels or stuffing envelopes or something. Nothing that you won't have an opportunity to double check, and nothing that really matters to you. Personally, I think you do have to invite her. It's the right thing to do, and who knows maybe she won't come. But I think the idea of sending the invite to her and BF is the way to go - don't say "and guest" or you're going to get the worst of the bunch and the one who is going to back her most negative thoughts. Good luck to you! I'll keep my fingers crossed that it gets better!

I was a slob as a kid, too. And then I moved out and became a neat freak who loves to cook. For the cooking, there are tons of beginer cookbooks, even kid's cookbooks. Start there and you'll pick things up. Another way to get the confidence is to buy premade sauces and follow the directions - stir frys, casseroles, and like that. Check out the back of the Campbells cream of ____ soups - they always have pretty good, super easy recipies, too. On the cleaning thing, start by learning how to really make a bed - hospital corners, etc (you can find this on line) - and do it EVERY day. Eventually you'll look at your beautifully made bed and want your room to look good. And then the living room, kitchen, etc. Good luck!

Wow! That's tough. I'm not a fan of my MIL, and while she's neurotic, she's got nothing on your FMIL. I've got to second what some of the other brides have said. Your FI needs to set boundaries and stick with them - otherwise you just come off as the bitchy new DIL. That being said, you also have to start telling her (and have FI standing there backing you up when you do it) that she already had her wedding and this is your wedding and you'll do it exactly how you want. If that doesn't help, we'll round up a bunch of the BDW crew and toilet paper her house!

Meet Nismo, our newest medical needs puppy foster

And then I realized that I missed all of the creativity that my wedding planning allowed me and opened my own business designing invitations, monograms and wedding decor for other brides. There are other templates on the forum - a search should turn them up.

Hi Jennifer: I have a bunch of clear badge holders and luggage tag straps that I am no longer marketing (I found something I am happier with). Is that the sort of thing you're interested in? Send me a PM if that would work.
