  2. I am so sorry to hear your news! I hope the doctors are wrong! Big hugs!
  3. Dear me! Call the scientific community because we have found a woman with a set! I mean jeezus! I think your next step is to just let her know that if they won't be attending the wedding, would she please send the FG dress back to you because so-and-so are booked and bringing their lovely daughter with them and you're going to reassign the FG duties to her.

The apps for the cocktail hour at our rehearsal are straight of the regular app menus, but we went pretty light - chips and guac, crudite, and a couple of other nibbly things. But they are charging us on a per-person basis because we have the open bar. I think all in it's $16-$18 per person. Elisa booked the reef grill for us - it is not private though. Any space we don't use will be used for seating hotel guests. And, we had to have it at 7:00 PM when the dinner service starts so that they could seat other guests after us. There is an extra charge for the lobster of $18 per person, but that is standard. If you serve shrimp or something else rather than lobster there's no fee. I don't have Swank's information any longer, as I've booked mannia. Missy: do you have it?
  5. I used a heavyweight (24lb) paper and had no see-thru problems at all. If your office is like most, they probably use a 20lb weight because it's cheaper. You can get a ream of 24lb or 28lb paper for less than $10 at Staples.
  6. Yay! Sounds like everything is coming together! I have so little left to do other than small to do items. Feels great. The two big things I need to do are (1) figure out what the heck music I'm walking down the aisle to and (2) figure out how to tell my dad that I'll be walking down alone. #2 is def. going to be the harder of those tasks!! Let's talk on Wednesday. I should be done here at the office and on a train by 5:30, so call any time! And thanks again (and again, and again!)
  7. There are lots of combinations - magnets, postcards, passports, traditional invites... I guess the question is what do you want your guests to see first and last. For me, I wanted them to have as much information as possible, so I did passport STDs with lots of information on the hotel, Mexico, how to book, etc. And then I did the boarding passes for invites. Everyone has raved about them, and personally I liked keeping the travel theme thru all of the communications.
  8. If you're not in love with it, keep looking. You'll find something that just calls to you, don't worry.
  9. Word Art will do what you need. Just click it, type the text in, select the font, etc. Then you can alter the word art format, shape, etc.

  12. My dear friend threw me a bridal shower this weekend in Los Angeles. It was fantastic! The weather was perfect, we all hung out on the back deck, had a nice lunch, opened some prezzies. Couldn't have been better. Here are a few pics: The whole gang: Me and my girlfriend: Mom, sis and I with my "bouquet": Plus, after I got to play with her daughter who is the cuh-yoo-test! Then, yesterday morning, I got on a plane back to NY. We were actually going to arrive early until we were diverted to Pittsburgh because of thunderstorms. We sat on the runway there for 4 hours. I finally got home at about 2:00AM (a tad later than the expected 8:00PM). Mind you I get up at 4:30 for work. (Hello? Starbucks? Do you deliver?)

He emailed back for me to call him so we can have a conversation... not that there's anything wrong with that, but did you all have to call him? I'm much more of an email girl... I didn't have a whole lot of interaction with Victor. His attitute irked me fairly early on and I started looking for other options right away. However, he never suggested I call. The 6-8 e-mails we exchanged were it. Quote: Originally Posted by cocobobby Hi girls...hope eveyone's plans are going well. I have a few questions...! 1. I need help with the music!! That sounds great could you fill me in on any info. 3. What is everyone doing for their rehersal dinner?? You can use any DJ you want, the only catch is that Swank has to be there to "supervise". Basically, you pay them a fee for not using them. I am using Carlos at Mannia Cancun. He's great. Came down to meet with us when we were there for our site visit in may. There's a thread about him - just search for Mannia. My photographer is doing a slideshow at the reception - I understand that he's uploading a small batch of photos to a laptop and letting it run during party time. I'm sure that the hotel can accomodate a slideshow, but you may have to bring your own laptop. Check with Perla or Elisa. For our welcome/rehersal dinner, we're hosting a cocktail hour on the mexican patio (where the fountain is by the theater). For the dinner following, I just booked a group of tables at the reef grill. Quote: Originally Posted by riviera Hi ladies! First and foremost thank you for all the information you have provided. But frankly I am totally lost as to what to even request to taste. Has anyone had tasting at the hotel? We are very interested in Le Hermiage. Becks, I noticed that you will be having your reception there? What did you choose to have? Would you mind sharing the dishes you are having? How much per person did it come out to? Are menu set per package? So many questions, So lost help~~~ anna We booked L'Hermitage for our wedding dinner - not the reception. They are very careful with L'Hermitage because of it's 4-diamond status, and you will pay a small fortune for the priviledge of having a private meal there. We had to use existing chairs, tables and linens. They will not remove unused (empty) tables and chairs from the room. We hd to order from their existing menu. We could not bring in musicians or a DJ (we're using their standard canned classical music). However, if you can get over the restrictions, go for it. We are having the beef carpaccio or crispy shrimp for apps, then the lamb, beef or mahi mahi for entree. We are skipping the soup course, because who wants soup in August? We're having the yummy profiteroles for dessert. Cake will be afterwards, out on the terrace. We are paying approximately $85 per person for the dinner. If you want something you can customize, want to make speeches using a sound system or want to have dancing between courses, I'd abandon the idea of L'Hermitage. It suited us, but mostly because we were willing to work within their rules.
  14. Excellent idea! Plus, its always so interesting to see people's reactions when you do something nice for them, totally out of the blue.
  15. Oh, yes. Happens to each and every one of us. It's really fun to sit there nicely and listen to them explain why your dream wedding isn't convenient for them and that you should be willing to disregard everything you want your wedding to be in order to accomodate them. Oh! And the question about whether or not I was pregnant and was running off "because I had to" was rather interesting, too.
  16. Hi Martha! I don't know how big your circle needs to be, but Fiskars makes a circle punch that is really great and only about $10. I think that the XL size is 2 inches in diameter, and the smaller ones go down in 1/2 inch increments. It's a squeeze punch so it's really easy on your hands. I know Michaels carries some of them, and you can also order them from Joann.com or fiskarscrafts.com. The best part is the way they've done it is that it cuts up rather than down like an old fashioned single hole punch, so you can see right where you're cutting.
  17. Oh thank GOD! I cannot believe your sister did this and then lied to your father's face about it. What a complete and total b***H! Personally (and I admit I haven't read thru all of the responses), I'd have a conversation with your sister and make sure that she understands that she is no longer welcome to speak with or have any contact with any member of your family. After the conversation put it in writing and send it via certified mail so that if there is any further conversation you have the basis of filing a harassment lawsuit to get a restraining order.
  18. Yay! It's beautiful! It is such a special thing to be able to share a starfish with the other BDW brides. I can't wait until mine arrives from Morgan!
  19. Dear god, Rachel! I cannot believe the first hospital just sat there and did NOTHING. What a bunch of f-ing a-holes! I would seriously consider a lawsuit and/or publicly drawing attention to their horrific level of care. I have an uncle outside of Salem who used to be a neuro-anesthesiologist. I sent him an e-mail last night to see if there is anyone he can recommend in the area. I'll send you a PM when I hear back from him.
  20. Amy!! You're a blonde! I was startled! But you look FANTASTIC! The shower looks like it was SO much fun!
  21. Woo hoo! I had so much fun with these!!! We used 80# cardstock from Staples for the ticket jackets and the boarding passes. I failed to take photos of the envelopes, but we used heavy weight white policy envelopes (the ones that open on the short end, with our logo (see below) to seal them. These were the stamps we used on the envelope - so fab for a tropical theme: and here is the stamp for the RSVP card (it was an odd size and they said that they could all come postage due if we didn't include extra postage) Plus, the colors looked great with the ink. The pages/tickets were all individually addressed, which was a headache in the cutting/sorting stages, but really made them special. We only mailed 40, so it wasn't as if it was overwhelming. Here are the pages: And all cut, sorted and stapled on the counter: The back of the RSVP card: The ticket jacket - front is our logo, the reverse was a map and the inside had everyone's names and our alternate logo on them: And then ready to be put in the envelopes:
  22. Happy Anniversary Tammy! Congratulations!!
  23. Oh Rach!!! Big hugs. I can't believe they'd just discharge her and send her home! Your aunt is in my prayers!
