  1. Congratulations Leia!!! Everything looks fantastic!
  2. Any chance one is married and the other not? Then you can have a maid and a matron of honor. Problem solved! On the other hand, if it's just the two of them standing with you, then why designate either? Just call them both bridesmaids and that would be good enough.
  3. This is such fun!!! Here's my nephew Ben when he was itty bitty. He's 4 now....
  4. Some of us seem a little blue lately, so I figured we need a thread that's all about happy thoughts. So post the things that make you smile. Pictures, thoughts, whatever. I'll go first - it made me laugh:
  5. Absolutely! I had mine on a Saturday and it was great. Good luck with your planning!
  6. I don't have a photo of mine that shows the wrap very well - the hang tags are in the way. If you get stuck, let me know and I'll take a photo of the leftover ones.
  7. Katy!!!! I LOVE your dress (go figure!) One of the things that made a HUGE difference when I had my alterations done is that I had the straps narrowed so they aren't so bulky. And because they are so long, it made a difference. If you look at how narrow the straps are when it sits on your neck without being hiked up, you'll see what I mean. It makes it look much less bulky. Doing this will also give the impression of more cleavage because there's less fabric up around your collar bone. That being said, it's not an inexpensive fix because they have to take off the outside lace, cut down the fabric and restitch the trim. I think mine cost me about $125 to do it, but I'd pay double that because it made such a difference. Good luck! You look amazing!
  8. Gorgeous!!! Absolutely and totally gorgeous! Now... quit making me feel so inadequate!!!
  9. I did mine all in one. I just passed the ribbon through the holes in the fan at the top. I put the short end through, wrapped it down below where the rest of the ribbon would cover it, anchored it with a glue dot, and then wrapped the long end around and thru once more - so you get a figure 8 of sorts thru the actual fan part at the top. then I just started down and around the handle. Hope that helps!
  10. Oh, that is so awful! That poor girl! (and yet I'm trying very hard not to laugh!)
  11. Calia I am so very sorry to hear about your kitty! My heart just breaks for you!
  12. I'm sorry but... WTF?? I'm sure there's some big back story about the chicken suit or something, but I just don't get it.
  13. My badge holders were purchased separately from the luggage tag loops. I know some of the girls have used ribbons and other things, rather than the plastic loops.
  14. I think we were quoted $750 for 5 hours. We added a 6th hour as well because he was so great. I don't really know what the hotel charged us - it was something like $60 an hour for the time that Mannia was there. But beyond that there is no outside vendor fee or anything. It ended up being significantly less expensive than the in-house guy. And he was really, really great. Can't even say enough.
  15. I'm with so many of the girls here. I understand that cultural differences may make it difficult for him to appreciate your kitty. However, I find it very disconcerting that he doesn't appreciate that you are attached to Kitty and that you don't want to get rid of her. To me that's absurd. It's not like you yell at his best friend whenever he comes over because you don't like the friend. There is no difference here. Maybe you need to sit him down and explain how important Kitty is to you. Maybe he just doesn't understand that point. But if he does and just doesn't care, I'd start standing up for Kitty and for yourself. I'm also concerned that there is something more fundamental at hand. Like FI can't tolerate sharing your love and affection. If that's the case Kitty is just the object du jour, and if she goes, it's going to be something else that you love and care about... and then something else... and something else until the only thing of any meaning in your life is FI, because he's forced you to abandon friends and family to prove to him that you love him. And that's wrong on EVERY level. Start by talking with him. If he doesn't understand, then I'd really slow down and give this some thought. Good luck!!! I'm pulling for you - let us know how it goes!
  16. Mine weren't luggage tags. They were ID badge holders - I think they were called proximity badge holders or something like that. I got them off of Amazon. Good luck!
  17. Congratulations Erica!!!! I hope your day was absolutely amazing!
  18. Congrats Yari!!!! I know you'll make an absolutely beautiful bride!
  19. Fisherman sandals are definitely the way to go. There are lots of different variations, so just find one you like. I finally talked DH into a pair by Timberland about a year ago (over tons of protest), and now I can hardly get him out of them. You might want to wait until the begining of March when they start showing up again. I think we got his from Zappos - free shipping both ways! So I ordered about 5 pairs and sent 4 back.
  20. If you can find it a passion fruit martini is fabulous! Short of that, I love a Stoli orange cosmo. The orange adds a great flavor.
  21. If you run out of options, you could actually use burlap fabric and acheive the same look. You could stiffen up the fabric either by using a really heavy starch and an iron or by dipping it in a dilute solution of elmers glue and water. Then you could attach the card with glue dots.
  22. Some thoughts... You might try some of the designer's web sites. Johston and Murphy has some nice more casual styles, and timberland carries a gorgeous fisherman's sandal (not the creepy old man kind, but the nice ones). Personally, I'd get one pair that "would do" and then wait until early March when the sandals start showing up again.
