  1. We did photos before hand and I am so glad that we did. It was "just us" time - no parents, bridal party, etc. (except for Nathaniel, of course). The photos were great, very just us. The look on DH's face was priceless!
  2. As an alternative to MAC (because I generally find it feels heavy), I went with Laura Mercier and loved it! Bloomies, Nordstrom and some Macy's carry it. I loved how light it was.
  3. Oh dear... but I find it pretty funny that you have to tell her number 1 and number 2, and then are concerned that she's going to throw you a prissy tea party. Don't worry, she'll get over it.
  4. YAY!!!! The ferret thread is alive again!!! by the way, did you guys see how sharp Nibblet looked at Morgan's wedding? By the way, did you guys see what Paris' ferret was wearing for St. Paddy's day? Scandalous how bare he was - presumably, Paris was wearing far less, however:
  5. Hi Ladies!!!! I've been terribly remiss in not keeping up with you and I apologize. I've been developing a business plan, etc. for a venture I'll be undertaking -- invites, mongrams, placecards, programs, etc. I'm really excited! But it's been taking up a lot of my free time. On the DJ front. I used Mannia. And I *heart* Carlos. I got some pretty negative vibes from SWANK and we just never looked back. At the time - and that was August '08, so things may have changed - I was told that the only additional costs I had for the DJ were the supervision fee plus the amp - which FYI they mean the electric feed (amperage), not equipment (amplifier). I did confirm with Perla that there was NO additional vendor fee on top of that. Just a side note, and I will caveat this by saying that I loved my wedding, I love the Paradisus and I would do it again... However, keep EVERYTHING. And keep it for a long, long time after you're married. Long story short: There were some real issues that we encountered. Rooms seriously messed up, promises not kept, service issues that I found embarassing... In the end, we settled the complants via a credit of about $5,000. We signed a formal settlement agreement and everything, saying we wouldn't sue, etc. Guess what showed up on my credit card statement this month? Yup! The credit was re-charged to my card. No joke! I'm sure the credit card company will resolve it, but its just utterly appalling to me that it would happen - even if it was in error. Like I said, I LOVED my wedding.

  7. Oh my god. The one with the guy licking his foot left me dumbfounded. I mean... whyyyyyyyy do people do things like this
  8. Gorgeous photo Casey!!! Really, really wow!
  9. I'm an auntie too!!! Jason Stanley arrived happy and healthy last week. I don't have any decent pictures, but everyone says he's adorable. He was a c-section baby so no squashed melon. This is number 12 for me (no joke - 9 on my side and 3 on DHs). I have enough for a football team, plus a backup quarterback. Maybe I'll design my team a logo!
  10. We modified our logo ever so slightly and incorporated it. Wait - that's what we did with our bags. We used the palm tree image that we used on everything and incorporated a cute saying on our cups.
  11. Oh wow. I can't even imagine. I'd talk with her. But be sure your FI is there. This is stuff he needs to hear. And I agree with much of what has been said. Apologize for making a scene, or yelling at her in public. And then tell her that her comments were totally out of line, inappropriate and unacceptable. ESPECIALLY in front of your friends. Make sure that she is aware that until she can come to grasp with the basic standards of socially acceptible behavior, you will have no reason to try to repair your relationship. I mean really... how totally classless...
  12. Wow! I love this thread! It's so good to see you all again! I've missed my old friends. I really miss the planning thing. I'm actually looking into some sort of side business to keep my toe in the pool, so to speak. And the KIDS thing! Holy crap. What is it with people. I actually had my GYN ask me about when we were going to start a family now that we were married. Um... And to top it off, my SIL just had a baby (sooo cute) and now my whole family is all baby-crazy. It just makes me nuts! My new advice for anyone thinking of marriage is to marry an orphan. I don't know about you guys, but my in laws drive me f-ing crazy. Seriously, my MIL is honestly and truly neurotic. But married life is fantastic. And married life with dog is even better. I never thought I'd love being married, but I do. It's great.
  13. Yay Betsy!!!! That's so wonderful! And such a perfect fit for your lifestyle! Many, many congratulations!
  14. These are GREAT!! I went to a friend's sisters wedding. The groom was about 10 years older than the bride, and was the youngest of 7 or 8 kids. So all of his nieces and nephews were there. And when I say all, I mean like 30 kids, all under 12, all screaming banshees. No sitters. No discipline. The babies cried bloody murder all through the wedding ceremony - none of the moms took them outside or to the back of the church. You couldn't hear a thing! And at the receception (an evening event), they let them run rampant - they bumped into us while we were trying to eat dinner, ran all over the place while the bride and groom tried to have their first dance. Oh my god it was awful! Of course... I still had all 11 of our nieces and nephews at our wedding. But they are all good kids instead of the pack of feral children that stumbled upon that wedding.
  15. Ahhh, bankruptcy. I used to be a bankruptcy consultant. Let me tell you the dirty little secrets... Fortunoff is no longer Fortunoff. The minute they filed bankruptcy, Fortunoff as you and I know it ceased to exist. Technically, the legal entity that now looks like Fortunoff is probably called NewCo. NewCo owes you nothing. Your transaction was not with them. They do not now nor never had your money. That being said, they may have some policies that will allow you some recourse. Call customer service. Get a person on the phone. The web site will be worthless. Your credit card company may help, but maybe not. The way credit card companies normally work through these things is that if you were wrongly charged on a transaction, they refund the money to you and just withhold payment from the seller on the next transaction. However, there are no more transactions with Fortunoff for them to withold payment on, so they may tell you that you're stuck. Worst case scenario: file a claim. Their claims processor is a group called the Garden City Group, give them a call and make sure you're on the creditors list. Their web site is here: Garden City Group - Garden City Group - Class action, legal administration, bankruptcy services, claims administration, claim management, litigation support You technically have placed a deposit because you've paid and not received your goods. Deposit up to $1,500 (or something like that) have priority over other claims, so you're more likely to get your money back. But it will take some time - possibly years. By the way the fortunoff reorganization website is here Fortunoff Bankruptcy Administration Website . Not hugely helpful, but good to have. Good luck. If I can help at all, send me a PM.
  16. We did custom embroidered hats through customizedwear.com - they had a huge selection and we loved how ours came out. We got waterproof/UV hats so people could wear them in the pool, etc. Here's a photo - we also had the date put across the top of the back opening.
  17. Meredith - what are you using for music? If you're going the iPod route, see if your speaker source has an input - you may be able to find a mic with RCA plugs that you can just add to that. On the projector - note that there are no walls around the Tequila terrace, only windows - you'll need to have a sheet or something to project onto. I keep thinking about going back down - we had such a great time. And the fact that it's cold and miserable here doesn't help.
  18. I havent changed my name - although our marriage license has it hyphenated in case I ever decide to do so. To me it was just about the convenience, that and I've had my name for almost 40 years. Once or twice I have had snags when it comes to random stuff - getting a parking pass for the train station from the town (because the car is in FIs name) and picking up a building permit for some work on the house (because FI filed the paperwork and our names didn't match). Now I just carry around a copy of the marriage certificate in the glove box of the car in case anyone questions it.
  19. So glad to hear that your sis is okay and will be able to fly. Same thing happened iwth my dad - he went stir crazy because he had to lay down all day for about a week.
  20. Wonderful work Kerry!!!! I can't believe how great everything looks!

I want to do it again! I have to agree. One long e-mail with all the items numbered is the easiest way to go. She would respond to us with her answers in the text of the original e-mail. And Kelly - I'm with you on wanting to do it again. We've been talking about a "reunion tour" since before the actual day of the wedding!
