  1. There are tons of places to get the beach balls done - just google "custom printed beach balls" or "personalized beach balls" and you get about a zillion hits. I'm not sure where we're getting ours at this point - motivators.com has lots of color choices, throwthings.com is cheaper. The hardest part has been finding someone who will do them in smaller lot sizes. I've yet to find anyone to do them in lots less than 50 most want a minimum of 100.
  2. I'm sorry, but... EWWWW! That is so off-putting. Couldn't she have settled for an ice sculpture or something else?
  3. We're thinking about pool floaties or beach balls for our OOTs. You can get the beach balls custom printed for about $1 each.

Welcome to the forum, and congratulations!
  5. The first one is stunning, and is both elegant and understated. And you look FANTASTIC in it!!!
  6. Welcome to the forum and congratulations. My FI was all ga-ga about the Excellence from what he'd seen online, and then we realized that it was adults only. With 9 nieces and nephews, that option was unfortunately out for us, but it sounds fantastic!
  7. Welcome to the forum and congratulations!
  8. Hi Lindsey! Welcome to the forum and congratulations! I'm contemplating the dreams Tulum as well. So many decisions....
  9. Welcome to the forum, and congratulations!
  10. Welcome to the forum, and congratulations! I've not heard of your resort, either. Def going to have to take a peeksie.
  11. Welcome to the forum, and congratulations!
  12. Hi Kelly! Welcome to the forum. I don't have the answers to your question, but my FI and I are planning a quick stop at city hall on our way to the airport. We don't ever want to have to question the legality/etc. of our marriage, so we thought that would be the best way. Besides, once we're legally married, the rest is all about us, our friends and family, so we can kick back and have fun.

    Newbie Alert!

Welcome! You're in the right place. I don't know anything about your resort of choice, but I'm sure you'll get lots of help here.
  15. Welcome! Everyone her has been so warm and so helpful! I think you're in the right place!
  16. Thanks all for your kind wishes. I'm so excited!!
  17. Love the shoes. If you're having trouble getting them to Canada, you might inquire as to whether someone on the forum is willing to take receipt and forward them on. Heaven knows I'd be delighted to help...
  18. Funny. My FI told me in no uncertain terms that my engagement ring would not be coming with us to our wedding. I get his point, but I WANT my ring there!!! In the end, I'll probably go with a set of fakes. Honestly, if anything were to happen to the real one, I'd probably die crying, so ultimately its better with the fakes.
  19. I know it seems to be the overwhelming response, but love the first dress. The others don't have nearly the same "destination wedding" feel.
  20. Oh WOW! You look so fantastic! I'm so happy for you that you found such a gorgeous gown. And the savings are such a bonus!!!
  21. This is SO great! I spent 6 months in a culinary school in Italy, so I'm a total pasta fiend and I love a good recipie, and have lots to share. Here's one of my favorites: quick, easy, relatively healthy... Orechiette - as much as you want to make Broccoli - the tops are best, but the stock works well too - as much as you want to add 2 cloves of garlic - chopped a healthy squeeze of anchovy past (probably 1/2 to 1 teaspoon) 3-5 Tablespoons of olive oil a pinch of red pepper flakes a pinch of salt grated (not shredded) parmesan cheese Boil water in a big pan - a good gallon or so. When its boiling, add the orrichette and set a timer for 6 minutes. Get everything else ready to go in the meantime. When the timer goes off, put the broccoli in the water - you're going to cook it at the same time as finishing the pasta. Four minutes later, pour the whole shebang into a colander. Save a bit of the water you used to boil the pasta for later. Put the pan back on the stove and put in the olive oil. When its hot, add the garlic and red pepper flakes, salt and anchovy. Stir it around a bit until the garlic toasts a bit - maybe 2 minutes. Put the pasta and broccoli back in the pan and toss to coat. Add the pasta water if you need a little more liquid to coat. Add a good amount of parmesan - if I use 1/2 pound of pasta, I use about 1/4 cup parmesan - and toss to mix. Serve it with additional parmesan. So yummy! I think I'm having it for dinner tonight.
  22. Had a new year's brunch with friends - she mixed passion fruit juice and vodka, shook it and served martini-style. YUMMY. Sweet, tart and totally fab. A few people combined the passion fruit juice with champagne and raved about that too. I've just got to figure out where to find the passion fruit juice!
  23. I love the idea of doing something small and informal! If you're circle is potluck-oriented, that's great. And by all means, show the video, display the photos, have a cake (your local grocery or costco is more than enough) and even wear a cute white dress and put some flowers in your hair! People are there to congratulate you, celebrate your marriage and catch a glimpse of how fab your DW was. Another thought, if you do it during off-hours (ending by 6:00pm, or starting after 8:00pm), people won't be expecting it to be food-oriented. So, much cost savings there!
