  1. I'm glad you had a good time even though the room was a disappointment. Way to buck up!
  2. It's beautiful and it's your wedding, I'm glad you love it!
  3. Tami: I think they look really cute, despite the fact that they aren't what you wanted. that being said, I'm sure that the vendor will work with you to resolve the issue to your satisfaction. If not, get your credit card company involved. They have an amazing ability to rectify stuff like this.
  4. Yes, send a thank you. But I concur with regard to using ordinary thank you notes. Even if it was off your registry, it wasn't a wedding gift, so save those. And for mom? A phone call would undoubtedly suffice, but maybe a little thank you gift in return - an engagement photo or something, maybe?
  5. Congratulations and welcome!
  6. Wow, it sounds like you have everything all set. With regard to the seashells, I'm guessing the problem is that customs views them either as animals or animal product and there may be prohibitions on that. You might try contacting an importer to see if they can give you any advice. Even someone like UPS international might be able to help.
  7. It's truly amazing, though, people's willingness to assume that their opinion is of the utmost importance. I actually had someone I work with tell me that going away to get married would look bad. Um... whatever. God bless my parents who were all "anything you want, anywhere you want... just tell us where to be, when to be there, and what to wear." If only everyone was so accomodating... It's YOUR wedding, it's YOUR day. Do it exactly where you want, in exactly the way you want. These are memories for YOU. If someone wants to gripe about it, cut them off quick and tell them that you'll be sad if they can't make it, but you'll understand.
  8. Wow do you have things under control! So jealous - at this point the only thing I've got set is the man!
  9. Congratulations on your engagement, and welcome to the forum!
  10. Welcome! There are so many coices. MY FI and I think we have settled on the Riviera Maya because its the most convienient for friends and family coming from both coasts, and it seems to be more economical than some of the caribbean options (airfare from the west coast to the caribbean is silly-expensive). I'm sure you'll find plenty of advice and insight here.

    Another Newbie!

Welcome and congratulations! I"m sure you'll find this site so helpful.
  12. Has anyone tried the spray on glues? I'm thinking it would be easy, and wouldn't bubble like regular glue, but I'm not sure it would stand up to much heat, humidity, etc.
  13. I think everyone has it about right. No one is going to notice. But... it will be in your pics and that is a consideration. My advice is (a) get a photo of what it's going to look like covered up. If you like it, no problem. If not then ( talk to your photog (perhaps send a photo of the new-and-not-so-improved chapel) and see what he says about his ability to photo shop the mural out of at least the close-up pics. That being said, I don't think its awful. Just not to your (or my) taste.
  14. Those are really cute! Can you post a photo of one in your hair? I'm thinking of flowers for my hair too - has anyone had luck with using real flowers? I'm thinking that I'd like them to match my bouquet.

    Newbie

    Congratulations and welcome!
  16. I'm not a huge makeup person - never foundation, rarely a bit of powder... But there are two things that I've found recently that I refuse to live without: 1. Semi-permanent lipstick. I am a huge fan of Cover Girl's Outlast - $8 a tube, put it on in the morning and when it dries you can kiss your honey to your hearts content and its still there. 2. Lancome's Cils Booster - sort of a primer for your mascara. Your eyelashes get stronger and your mascara stays on forever! And I just use a cheapy Max Factor mascara - no need to buy the pricey stuff to make the combo work.

    Intro

Welcome to the forum! So cool to have a groom!!!
  18. Congratulations and welcome! There are several hotels that you can swim in - I've been to Cabo a few times and have stayed at the Melia and spent all day in the ocean. Take a look at where your hotels are compared to the arch on the western edge of the bay - the arches area is dangerous, but the bay side is fine. Not sure about the corridor hotels, though. Anyone else know?
  19. I'm sorry that you aren't getting the response you want. And while we all probably anticipate that not everyone will be able to come, we all sit here with every hope that they all will - after all, we invite people because we want them there. Right now I'm dealing with my best friend (my would-be MOH) telling me that she may not be able to make it. Ugh! Hard to know how to handle - right now I'm just trying to make sure that it doesn't impact my day-to-day stuff. On the other hand, there are two couples that we figured wouldn't make it (both with newborns) who not only have told us they will be there, but are voting on location. Amazing what you learn about your friends in this process...

  21. This just in...We may be ditching the beach balls in favor of swim rings... FI's job is to find them, so when I e-mailed him about where he was looking he must have been poking around a bit and came across these from recsupply.com They aren't custom printed, but SO cute. $1.80 each isn't too bad... if the photo doesn't go thru, try here: Recsupply.com 24" Printed Swim Ring
