  1. Ladies, I'm sorry, but hell... after my last trip to my brother's I'm fine if they want to leave the seat up. My brother has 3 boys. The nearest bathroom to the guest room is the one that the three boys share. And sometimes they just don't bother to put the seat up. Imagine, if you will, a middle of the night trip down the hall... you sit... and its... wet. EWWWW! GROSS! Seriously - I had to hop in the shower it was so revolting. I'd rather fall in...
  2. Oh dear god. Seriously? Well, maybe its a cultural thing? wine is booze, but tequila is... um... fermented cactus juice?
  3. Also check with your hotel - many of them have safes at the front desk - similar to a safe deposit box at the bank - you have to have a key, and the hotel staff have to have a key to open it - not ideal for things that you want easy access to, but if it's your wedding rings that you're not going to need until the day of, this is a good option.
  4. Love them! You looked amazing. And Sol showed us that once again, she is SO talented!
  5. It will look beautiful. If you're really concerned, have the stems wrapped in a brighter color - that contrast will detract from anyone noticing that your dress and flowers aren't exactly the same color.
  6. Hi Ladies! I'm so glad we're back up because I'm just beside myself trying to figure out what to do... FI and I went and had a site visit at the Paradisus and really liked it - we left them with two requests - (1) use of the french restaurant for dinner (2) ability to put children in their "Royal Service" (the upgraded, nicer rooms, which are adults only) since we would have more than enough rooms to book an entire 20-room building (theory being that if its just us, who cares if kids are in the rooms/building). They promised us a response the week after we returned. And we didn't get one. In fact, the only thing we heard was that they were working on it - and only in response to my requests for answers. Last Thursday I gave up and handed everything of to my TA. And she must have gone all monkey-crazy (go TA go!), because we got an answer - NO. To both requests. I was so distraught. Frankly, I could have lived without the kids in the rooms, but the dinner in the french restaurant was a deal-breaker. We want to have dinner in an air-conditioned space (it's HOT in August, and FI's family aren't al fresco dining people to begin with.) All of the other restaurants have something non-condusive for hosting a wedding dinner (rooms oddly divided, no A/C, etc.) and the conference rooms have no windows and have that classic "welcome-to-the-tropics" musty smell. Not surprisingly I was up all night exploring all alternatives - the DR, bahamas, other hotels in the RM... and crying. I just want the location of my wedding set!!! So frustrated. But I found a couple of options that would work - Azul Beach (on a second choice date), and the Gran Porto Real. Well, yesterday morning, TA to the rescue again - she called, explained that they needed to reconsider the restaurant or we were walking... finally last night at 8:00 PM I get an e-mail from the hotel saying that yes, we can use the restaurant, but... we have to pare down the menu and they are going to charge us an additional $80 per person. Needless to say, I'm still frustrated. I don't mind the surcharge, but the extent to which we have to pare down the menu is frustrating. And I'm frustrated in that it took them TWO WEEKS to come back to us. And now, I'm also concerned that every little request we make between now and August is going to be just as difficult. So (yes, finally, I'm getting to the point), what do you guys think? Stay with the Paradisus and recognize that they are going way outside their usual protocol to accomodate us, clearly want us there and it was our first choice anyway. Or ditch it as too hard and go with one of the backup locations? Any thoughts you have would be so appreciated!
  7. So nice with the flowers - I hope its okay if I steal your idea too!
  8. I'm on the BDW bus - get the veil. You're only going to marry once - wear the veil and feel beautiful!
  9. I'm SOOOO glad we're back up (and better than ever!) And my boss is SOOOO happy it was down yesterday (okay, he's not... but only because he didn't know!)
  10. ... you haven't read this thread because there are over 100 posts in it and you KNOW you don't have that much time. ... you set an audible alert to your regular e-mail in box so you don't indavertently miss that urgent e-mail while hanging out with your BDW friends. ... you tell your FI (on Valentine's Day!!!!) that you're going to be another 15 minutes because you just can't wait to read this thread. And on that note, I've got to run to dinner with my sweetie! (And yes, Maura, he still thinks we have a common friend. Hee!!!)
  11. Happy Valentine's Day! Lots of love to you all!
  12. I find that the eyebrow and lip do tend to cause little pimples. Nothing like that with legs or bikini though. Frankly, I use a depilitator on my legs (think epilady, but they are so much better these days), and I swear by it. Yes, it hurts, but there is no regrowth for almost 2 weeks. And I can do it whenever I want, and it doesn't cost me $45 a session. That being said, I can't use it on my bikini. It's not as quick as waxing, and just too OWWIE!
  13. A friend of mine sent me these... too funny. I love the first one!
  14. Funny. I love tuna casserole. but really? A can of tuna and a can of the "healthy select" cream of mushroom, covered with those little fried onion things and a bit of cheddar is my usual recipie. Pathetic, I know... (now is when I hang my head and confess that I attended a culinary school in Italy, and I still make tuna casserole this way...)
  15. Awwww. I want a dog!!! I miss animals!
  16. Depending on where you are a playboy can be a brazilian and vice-versa. Coming from LA to NY I figured that out the hard way. Generally, both get rid of lots of hair, including back between your cheeks. However, depending on who you talk to, sometimes a brazilian is "take everything" (think 4-year old), and sometimes they leave a landing strip. Personally, I don't want to be totally naked because (a) the whole prepubescent thing freaks me out and ( the regrowth isn't comfortable. But, if you want to give it a try, go for it! A couple of other hints: (1) do NOT have a wax the few days before or during your period if you can help it - its just more painful. (2) There will be some ingrown hairs. Almost everyone gets a few. Use a loofah after the third day or so (once your skin is all recovered) for several days - a couple circles in each direction all over your bikini area is usually enough - it's an extra 15 seconds in the shower and will save you so much aggravation down the road.
  17. What about using a big party tub - not quite a bathtub, but paint it white, and you're set. Something like this? About $30 from Ace Hardware. Ace - Ace Tree: Home Goods: Cleaning: Trash Cans: Outdoor Trash Cans: Hot Dipped Galvanized Oval Tub
  18. The fans are great! I love the colors! Out of curiosity, does the color rub off at all? I had a raffia beach bag and the color rubbed of on my clothing, so I've been hesitant to buy colored fans...
  19. Those are fabulous! You look great. You said you were a bit hungover... you looked better than I do after 10 hours of sleep!
  20. I really like the first one. By the way, take a look at these - the fish are blown glass and are suspended on a bit of fish line from a glass bubble that floats. They aren't perfect, but they are really cute! Floating Glass Bubble Fish and Sea Life And at $1 each, they aren't much more than a live fish would cost.
  21. I'm so jealous! FI doesn't give a rat's patoot about lingerie. He doesn't care if I'm in a silk negligee or flannel jammies with feet. So, no big lingerie shopping for me.
  22. That sucks, but everyone is okay, and this is just going to be an annoyance. It takes a pretty big person to call and apologize for having a bit of a 'tude. Good for you!
  23. Anny - those are absolutely beautiful! Your guests are going to be so thrilled to receive them! Congrats!
