I am so glad that DH and I decided to have a destination wedding. It was perfect for us! We wanted our wedding to be a celebration with our friends and family and that is what it truly ended up being! We couldn't have asked for a better day! So, without furthur ado... Here are my vendors: The Dunes House - A The Dunes House is located in Palmetto Dunes Plantation. It was a great location to get married. We wanted a location where you can get married on the beach and then walk to the reception. The reception was just steps away from our wedding site! Here is a post to show pictures of the Dunes House: http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t23710 Nicole Guy - A [email protected] Hilton Head Beach Resorts & Vacation Rentals | Palmetto Dunes | South Carolina Golf Resorts Nicole Guy is the event coordinator at The Dunes House. She helps you with answering any questions you may have and she helps coordinate the schedules of the vendors you have chosen. From my understanding, she is not a wedding coordinator. She will give you a list of suggested vendors and you are to find them from there. I honestly didn’t use Nicole to find my vendors, so I am not sure if she is willing to help or not! This is just an FYI. She was very sweet and helpful. It would take 2-3 days for her response on emails, so she was pretty fast at replying! It was wonderful to have her because she took care of many of the details on the rehearsal and wedding day. It’s always nice not to have to worry about that! She really came in handy when we had our rehearsal and the groom and I forgot to pick up our wedding license that day (That’s what you get for having the bachelor/bachelorette party the night before!) She called the marriage license bureau to find out where our license would be, the Beaufort County office or HHI county office, so that the groom could pick it up on our wedding day! Whew-disaster diverted thanks to Nicole and our officiant for the reminder! The staff at The Dunes House on our wedding day was also great! When my mom, aunt and sisters helped set-up before the wedding, they told me that Nicole and the waiters helped them set up some of my details. My family said they got set-up pretty quickly because of their help. They even came in handy and passed out my programs and maracas to guests as they came in. (I wanted them to be placed on the seats, but it was too windy!) We had a sit down dinner and they did a wonderful job. I didn’t eat much, but my friends and family kept raving about how good the food was. The whole night they kept saying to us...â€Thanks for choosing The Dunes House to host your wedding.†My only regret is very minor, but I want to pass it on! In some of my pictures, you can see a vendor with some beach rentals. Legally, I don’t know if Nicole can control how far away he can be from the wedding spot, but it was a disappointment to have him that close to the rituals. Again, it is minor in the grand scheme of things! However, I would just ask Nicole how far vendors can be asked to move away from the ceremony. It never hurts to ask! Officiant- Gail Felton - A [email protected] A Wedding By The Sea - Hilton Head Island Gail was my first vendor that I called! She was so sweet and helpful. She gave me many recommendations on locations and wedding coordinators. I didn’t look any further...I booked her and saved my wedding date with her! She has done many weddings in HHI, so she has many relationships with the vendors there. She is very down to earth and I love her little southern accent. During the ceremony, I got a little teary eyed and tried to fight back the tears during my vows and afterwards she whispered that I did a great job. She was really encouraging and relaxing. She has a great ceremony. She sent it to me and told me to look over it and make changes wherever I wanted. I used most of hers and added some things that I wanted also! You couldn’t ask for a nicer person to marry you! I also have attached the orginal ceremony and the altered script of the ceremony that I used. (Thanks, Morgan...I "borrowed" some of your ceremony!) I am invited to a Girl's Night only with the neighbors. We have to bring our favorite summer drink to share with pre-made recipe cards. So, I thought it would be fun to share our favorite big girl beverages! Yum! Here is one of mine:

Snapfish allows you to create a group room in which your wedding guests can download their pics to share. Similar concept to what Rachel mentioned above about the domain name. I made a section in my welcome letter with directions on how to download to the website. I also created a section on my website with this info. And like Rachel said, you cannot attach snapfish pics to the forum. I have to save pics from the site to my personal computer and then upload to photbucket if I want to post a pic on the forum. So, that is a pain!

I wanted all of our bridesmaids and groomsmens to wear their own shoes. I think that this allows them to bring their own style to the dress or outfit. The fact that we decided to have them wear matching outfits doesn't allow them to have their own "style". So, by allowing them to accessorize their matching dresses and outfits, gives them some freedom in expressing their personality. That is just my personal opinion! I don't have pro pics back yet, but I should be getting them in the mail this week! I will add pics of both wedding parties as soon as I can! * I didn't get a pic with the bridemaids and I with our shoes on! We had them off during the ceremony and for pics! Ha! But here is a pic of the Groom and his "best woman" and groomsmen!

I used snapfish as my photo host because my family and I have been using this site for sharing photos. So, for me, I am more familiar with snapfish. I did make a photobook for my parents' anniversary 2 years ago and the book was easy to make and provided some nice options. I am not familiar with shutterfly, so hopefully others can give you their opinions on them!

On her website it states that she has the proofs to you in 10 working days of your wedding. I haven't heard anything from her! I am dying to see them! (I remember your post about dying to see your pics, too!) I just wondered when I should email her about it. I don't want to rush her, but I also want to see them. I just need your personal opinions!

We had a nautical theme for our wedding. I used these sailboats as name and meal place cards. I told the coordinator that red= beef tenderloin, blue= grouper, tan= vegetarian, and yellow= kids. I just painted some of my extra blue boats to tan and yellow. By doing this, the hosts knew which meal to serve who by just looking at the color of the boats!

I had my wedding at The Dunes House in Palmetto Dunes Plantation in South Carolina. I have attached some pictures to give you an idea of what the Dunes House looks like! This is the front of the Dunes House. This is the lower deck you will see as you walk through the opening in the middle of the Dunes House. This is a picture of the bridge that you walk down to get to the beach. This is a picture of the deck as you walk through to the deck. The deck is huge! This is a picture of the bar that is right off the large deck. This is a picture of the beach set-up for a wedding. (The bamboo arch was extra and was created by my florist, Lauri Leber! [email protected] ) This is a picture of the table set-up at the reception. (I created the sea gull table name and sailboat place cards!) Yes...they do exist! I can't believe that I found them. I am so excited! I wanted to do these, but let's just say that I am not so good at cutting on even a straight line. I went to Michael's today and there they were in the wedding invitation aisle. They are made by Gartner and Brides. They were $35for 40 at 4 fan blades for each program. Michael's had a 50% coupon in their ad this week, so I got mine for $18. They provide the template online. Now all I have to do is put them together! Here is the link to look at them online: Gartner Studios Here is my semi-DIY version:

Angela- I am sorry that you are experiencing these emotions at such a joyous time in your life. I can't even begin to imagine what you are going through. I am sure that your grandmother is at peace knowing that you are marrying a wonderful and sweet man. I wish you the best of luck.

Bachelor and Bachelorette Parties???
WSUgal replied to KLC77's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
I am having my bachelorette party two days before the wedding down in Hilton Head Island, SC. It will be a casual night and we might be out later than normal, but not too late. I don't plan on getting too drunk, but the bridesmaids may have a different idea in mind! Personally, I would not have it the night before as I wouldn't want to walk down the aisle with a hangover. Not a good memory from your wedding day! -

Great review! Although I won't be getting married in Mexico...I will be honeymooning at PB Sunset Beach. I copied down your fav restaurants so that we can check those out! I am also glad that you loved the hotel as we booked sight unseen! Good luck with your decisions and thanks again for the tips! -

When I get back I plan on writing a review, so that may be more helpful. I will also attach some pics, too. I chose to get married at The Dunes House in Palmetto Dunes. I didn't do a site visit, but the pics that I have seen look really pretty! The location is what I wanted...we will get married on the beach and have our reception right behind us in the Dune House that overlooks the ocean. We have about 40 guests coming, so it was difficult to find this type of location that catered to smaller weddings. Anyways...here is a great website to get you started. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions. I promise I will be more available after the wedding! Hilton Head Island Weddings :: Your Best Source of Local Wedding Information Good Luck!

Chell- Your BIG day is almost here! Ahhh! Are you so excited?! I am sorry that I haven't written...about 3 weeks ago I was playing soccer and I injured my knee pretty badly. So, I haven't been on the computer too much...sorry! Anyways-back to you. I know things are super crazy right now and I know they will still be after the wedding with your big move to the ATL. So, when your newlywed life settles down you will have to post pics of your wedding! I hope everything is falling in place for you. I am sure evreything will be gorgeous. The best piece of advice I was given about the wedding day was from my friend. She told me between the madness of the day to just take a moment and stand back to observe all your friends and family having fun. She said that was the best piece of advice someone gave her and that this is a treasured moment she will always have from her wedding day! Best of luck to you on all your new life adventures! Christi
