What about renting a car for the day or borrowing a friends car for a day or two? That way you have the option to leave if it gets nasty or uncomfortable for you or your FI. I have left my kitties for 2 and a half days before. Your only worry would be a snow storm, I know you guys get more snow than we do here in NS.

Thanks, I ordered the silver and am having them shipped to my MOH's house in Mass. She'll bring them home to me when she comes home for the holidays. This way I can save a few $$ and avoid potential customs fee's (they're the worst).

To allow or not allow an unknown guest is a tough one. In my experience, some people will: Be very offended if they can't bring their significant other or travelling buddy. I know I would. The wedding is one day out of generally a week and they may not know other guests or be comfortable sharing a room with an acquaintance. Not realize there are extra costs since it is an AI. I've had to explain to a few people that our wedding is not free and we are paying above and beyond the wedding package we purchased for each extra person if we have more than 24. Choose not to come because they can not pony up the price of a single supplement room which they may have to do if they have no one to share a room with. I know for us a single supplement room was $460 more for the week. Try not to be too disappointed if this is the case. For most DW, 3/4 of the people that say there are coming won't be there even when they RSVP and book, especially with this economy. We did allow for people to bring guests, but made sure people knew we had to know far in advance because of the extra costs associated for us and that if we really didn't know them well we'd prefer if they didn't attend the wedding activities parts of the week we have planned.

I thought about doing the bare foot jewelry because they are pretty, but I am more of a shoe person to be honest, especially where we are getting married in the gazebo. In terms of what I am looking for....hmmm...my dress is going to be ivory (sorry no pics yet).... 1) Comfort and good support (not flimsy/bendy like a regular heel) 2) Stylish, possibly ornamented (a little sparkle, but not full on OMG that's blinding bling) 3) Ivory or dyeable, and I am open to color 4) No more than an inch and a half heel 5) Possibly a peep-toe wedge. I have been looking a wedges, beaded slippers/flats, and even Indian jutti's. Shoes I love are that blue satin pair from Sex in the City...however...due to these horrid feet of mine I'll never be able to wear shoes like that again....

Let me begin by saying, I'd love to be able to wear flip-flops or a stunning pair of heels, but with my plantar fascitus within an hour I'd be hobbling around complaining my feet hurt. So, I have been searching for months for a pair of comfy nice pair wedding shoes for the big day with no luck. If they're comfy, generally they're darn ugly grandma shoes. Do you ladies have any recommendations?

Does it have to be a Saturday? I know we are getting married on a Friday, all the guests are there for the week, so why not something in the middle?

Like ErinB has said, do what works for you. Let her know you don't want to infringe on her day, will be there for hers, thought she was ok with it when you had told her long ago you were planning late 2009 or early 2010 and that you chose Jan 2010 to accomodate family coming in from Europe. She'll eventually understand. I do hope things work out.
