  1. I love Montreal. It's been years since I have been, but I've always had a great time there, especially in old Montreal. If you're up for the touristy things around Montreal, one way to save money is the Viatour Pass, Montreal Attractions Passport, Montreal Sightseeing & City Passes | Viator.com If you do decide on Toronto and the touristy sites there, check out City Pass, CityPass : Visit 6 Toronto attractions for just $65.28, a $212.97 value!
  2. Trying to keep things in chronological order like Twinkletoes set up back on page 6 so it's easier to read and we can see everyones dates together. Hope I didn't miss anyone. It might be easier if we do like cmmdee's suggested on another subforum, "Please make sure to go to the last post of this thread, "quote" the last entry and add your wedding date in chronological order." Then delete the quote tags [] that are around the text, including the word QUOTE and user name inside the brackets [] at the beginning and end of the text. 3. Is there anyway you can weight the lid a bit or cover the drop slot so another bird can't get stuck? I am think along the lines so they can't lift it and are discouraged from trying to get it to make a nest. That way if it does happen again you know it's someone doing it and report it.
  4. I also think until they are booked and paid not to worry. We had about 40 say they'd be there rain or shine and time for deposits and we only got 12. Focus on the upcoming stuff like your graduation and move in to the new house (congrats btw on both). When you know all 66 are going for sure, then adjust your plans accordingly seeing what can be cut or changed to accomoodate. It will work out.
  5. I am with Harty on this, you have to be straight with her when she is being mean to you and she probably won't come anyway. However, if she does go, you are not the parent, nor should you have to be. Like Helen has said, your friends and family will realize her behaviour is no reflection of you.
  6. One thing you must remember, is that we can't control what others do, especially when it comes to their spending habits, you can only hope for the best. I came to realize this the hard way. Your FBIL sounds so much like my brother when it comes to spending habits. We gave 2 yrs notice to everyone to save. During the past year I have seen him spend money hand over fist buying cars (already had 2) and "toys", all the while saying he'd be there. Time for deposit comes and an hour after the deadline I get an Facebook message (grrr) with a sob story about all the upcoming bills he has, it would cost too much to get a house/child/pet sitters and he just can't afford to come to our wedding. Although, I think 95% of his reason is that my sister booked and he hates her (got to love family issues), rather than money issues. I came to the conclusion, our day is going to happen regardless, the way we want and those who want to be there will try their best to do so. My advice is to hold off on the bridesmaid dress for little, set a cut off date for the FBIL, if he hasn't booked that date then he's not going to be part of the wedding party, let him know, and if he does book by then your mom has the time she needs to make the dress. Otherwise you are going to have so much more stress than you really need.
  7. You are so not alone. Let's see, I have been: Told I am mean for choosing to get married down south Told I am Selfish for forcing people to fork over money to attend my wedding. Avoided by friends who I thought I was close to Told "of course you'd have to be different" Told that I think home is not good enough for me to get married Complained to about price every step of the way ...etc...can only imagine what gets said behind closed doors. Our response, "We have chosen to get married the way we want to get married. We know you would love to share in our day and understand if you can not make it due to other obligations or commitments. We know you will be there in spirit." End of story...have the day you and your FH want to have. We gave people 2 years notice and tried to think of their budgets when choosing a location. Overall, remember, it's you getting married not your guests and if they truly want to share in it they will at least make some effort to be there, but understand that some even though they try may not be able to go.
  8. Ughhhh, we need Target in Canada. You folks get such great deals there! Awesome find!
  9. Our experience was totally different with Air Transat than what seaprincess had. We had to book 10 vacation packages within a week. Our TA managed to get them to extend the quote for the second week to see if we could get a few of the people on the fence. Our prices for those who have booked are locked in (only change would be if the departure tax from DR went up). After we booked our minimum of 10 the tour group agreed to temporarily hold 4 more spots from Halifax and 6 from Toronto with the understanding that they can take them away from us at any point. Our group is less than 20 so most people have booked. I had to do a lot of verbal communicating to get the word out. It sucked that there wasn't enough time to send out the formal invites. I do plan on sending out invites soon though using the early booking prices that will give those on the fence another chance to book. The rate you get I think it totally depends on your TA, their negotiating skills, the purchasing power they have (small vs. large groups and even the agencies or business they bring to the tour operator), the group contact they have and of course the tour group itself that you are dealing with. Best of luck with getting your rates.
  10. Welcome to the forum and happy planning!
  11. I'd be the same way. So excited for the big day, except I'd probably be showered & ready sitting waiting for the shuttle bags and all. Funny how most guys can sleep anytime. You're gonna have a perfect wedding! I am thinking right about now as I read this you are at the airport about to board the plane. Best of luck and safe trip! Can't wait to see the pics!
  12. When my FI and I got engaged, I told him I didn't need an engagement ring. I personally think it's the wedding band part that is most important, the sign of your love and commitment to each other. My FI did at a later point in time did suprise me by buying me a gorgeous engagement ring mount which together we chose the center stone for (not a diamond but a pretty sapphire). We chose the stone together and it was perfect for me. I love my ring, but even if he didn't get me one it wouldn't change the fact I love him. You can't put a price tag on love.
  13. Poor little thing. I hate to see a sick child. Hopefully the antibiotics will kick in soon. Found this article: BLADDER INFECTIONS
  14. Welcome and happy planning!
  15. We chose Punta Cana because of the beautiful white beaches and the reasonable prices for our guests.
  16. Well it's been a few weeks and he seems to be choosing his meals wiser. He seems to be on board with the diet changes, now to get the exercise part in there and we'll be golden. Thank you ladies for calming me down.
  17. I read the subject line and was like WTF You're joking me...will wonders never cease. Thank you for the giggle of the day.
  18. Also if she is really large chested, some bra's meant to help large busted women wear the cute little halters and bandeau style dresses end up after about 20 minutes making them look like they have mono-boob. I used to have an extremely large chest (beyond DD) and I never would have been able to get away with that dress regardless of how cute it is. I'd choose a color, get a swatch of the color am material you like, divide it up in three and ask that they try to match it. She'd probably be able to get away with this style: Alfred Angelo... Find the perfect Wedding Dress, Bridesmaid Dress, Prom Dress, Flower Girl Dress or Mother of the Bride Dress at Alfred Angelo. Or something like this if you could alter it to have straps for just her: Alfred Angelo... Find the perfect Wedding Dress, Bridesmaid Dress, Prom Dress, Flower Girl Dress or Mother of the Bride Dress at Alfred Angelo.
  19. I agree with Rachel and am also suggesting to skip the matching BM's. My MOH begged me to make sure her dress has straps and that she could wear a bra with. It's tough being large chested and even worse if you aren't feeling comfortable in what you are wearing.
  20. Congrats, we've booked them too for the afternoon of April 24, 2009.
