Flower dilemma...PLEASE help me decide!
SunBride replied to Spazz's topic in Wedding Flowers, decoration, cake, etc.
You can order just the stems and put them together yourself or have a florist in your area put them together. That's what I'm doing since she didn't have time to make them. It cost me about 2/3 of the price for just the stems than for the full services from her. -
It all depends on a) How important photos are to you (important or extremely important) Whether you are willing to do photos before the ceremony Photos are extremely important to me (that's why I'm brining a photographer with me to have her services all day, plus other photos of the week!) and I didn't want to see my FH in my dress before the ceremony, so we are only doing shots alone and me with my bridesmaids and FH with his family before. We have the ceremony starting 3 hours before sunset (ceremony 4pm, sunset 7pm, although I just learned that daylight savings time doesn't start till a few days later and the sunset is actually 6pm, so I'm REALLY hoping to be able to move my ceremony to 3pm). You have to keep in mind that your ceremony might start 15-30 minutes late. Also, sunset photos are nice, but dark, so I know I wanted lots of time for photos in full daylight. So if my ceremony starts 30 minutes late, lasts 15 minutes, then 15 minute champagne toast, that leaves us 1.5 hours for photo before it starts to get dark (I'm guessing iit starts to get dark half an hour before sunset), which I figure will be divided about half an hour for family photos and one hour just us. When you break it all done that way it doesn't sound like that much time, and that's with a ceremony 3 hours before sunset!

check out his website, all the info is there. He charges 400$ an hour, but you have to get minimum two hours for the edited video to be included. Yes he also gives you all the raw footage. I agree he's the best I've seen so far. I originally didn't even want to pay the 400$ for oscar video becuase I thought it was too expensive, but the more I think about it the more I think the video is almost as important as the pictures, it really gives a better impression of how the ceremony went, and I think the movement and actual facial expressions and stuff show the emotion even better than photos (since photos are posed, often even photojournalistic style ones). So I realized if I can spend over 2000$ on photos I should spend enough on the video to get something very good.

I bought a beauty club membership at Carol Baker Visage, with the membership you can go for a makeover once a month and they don't pressure you much to buy their stuff. So I've gone twice before but neither time was I overly happy with my makeup. So maybe I should try MAC, it's just I didn't want to have to buy super expensive makeup, and I assume if you get a free makeover from them you have to buy their stuff (or at least they probably pressure you hard to). As for mascara, I read somewhere else somebody saying they tried fake lashes and loved the effect, plus you don't have to worry about mascara leaking! I'm going to give it a try before and see how it looks.

some resorts are more flexible than others so you should check on your resort. One of the resorts I contacted was very firm on 4 days (not couting the day you arrive but counting your wedding day) whereas the resort I am going with allowed me to count the day I arrive and my wedding day as 2 of the 4 days, same situation as you. Also of course it depends on whether your ceremony is legal or not. For religious ceremony some resorts still have minimum number of nights, although less than for legal ceremony, probably because they want time to meet with you to do the planning (or like somebody else said just to get more of your money!)

I personally think day of the week doesn't matter one bit, I never even gave it a thought when I was planning. Although I can see if people are flying out for just the weekend, then you'd want a weekend wedding, but from Canada most people take a full week package as it's cheapest so I never thought about it at all. VIDEOGRAPHER INFO UPDATE As for the hunt for videographer info, I have finally received a response from Oscar Video, Dreams Tulum's videographer. There is a sample on his website Oscar Video - Cancun - Riviera Maya, I just had never been able to find it. You go to the page called "web events" which is a calendar of events (the weird thing is all the months are empty), and then you click on "demo" at the bottom. The video is 8 minutes long and is a highlights video of the guests before the ceremony, the ceremony, group photos, and then bride and groom wandering on the beach and the dock (it's not taken at Dreams Tulum). If any past brides happen to watch the video can you please let me know if it's pretty similar to your video? I want to know what to expect. Ideally I would have liked to see several samples but at least one is better than none. I know somebody mentioned their video started with some shots of the resort, this one didn't have that but I think I would like mine to start that way. I asked him other questions - like if I could get the full video + the edited video, as I really want the full video of the ceremony. I also asked if I pay for 1 hour if he'll be there for strickly one hour or stay a little longer (like hour and a half) but he didn't answer so I emailed him back asking those questions again. Overall I thought the video was decent, not as good as others I've seen but I can see how most people would find it good enough. There were a few transitions I really did not like (the heart one, and the side to side one in between group photos) but I could probably just request that he only use the fade transition. So now I have to decide if I want to pay 380$ for a one hour video with him, or 500$ for a 2 hour UNEDITED video from Mayan Riviera Wedding Mayan Riviera Weddings - Wedding photography & video (I would edit it myself using Windows Movie Maker) or 800$ for a 2 hour edited video + full ceremony footage from Paul at Playaweddings Playa Weddings - Videography in Playa del Carmen and the Riviera Maya Anyways I realize I'm providing lots of info but I'm just hoping this might be usefull for future brides or maybe somebody will be able to answer the questions I still have.

I'll be showing the video at our 3 post-wedding parties (my home town, his home town, and where we currently live) so I'll be getting good use out of it. I'm happy to hear that everybody has had good experience with the resort videographer, but I'm just hesitant about spending 380$ or more (I've got the free package with no video) until I've seen some examples of his work, and there are none on the website! I've emailed him asking for some but no answer yet.

I'm resurecting this thread because I did a search and I see discussions on videographers going on in different resort threads, although mainly about the resort's videographer. Anyone have any other options for a videographer? I haven't seen a copy of a video from my resort's videographer so I am hesistant about going with him (don't like the idea of paying a lot of money when you don't know what you're getting) The ones that have been posted already in this thread are: Miguel Cantarell - Cancun Wedding Videos | Mayan Riviera Wedding Videographer | Miguel Cantarell - Home Paul Schrank - Playa Weddings - Videography in Playa del Carmen and the Riviera Maya Dino Gomez - Pictronica Weddings Others I've found when googling are: In Acqua Images - Inacqua Images - Playa del Carmen - México - Producciones audiovisuales, video, DVD, multimedia, filmación Mayan Riviera Weddings - Mayan Riviera Weddings - Wedding photography & video Wedding Paradise - George baltazar Wedding Paradise by Jorge Baltazar The one used by Lambert13 and Lucky_K72: Juan Alfredo (website not working) email: [email protected] And the one for my resort (Dreams Tulum) is: Oscar Video - Cancun - Riviera Maya

I have been trying to get in touch (through my photographer) with the videographer that did the Lambert's wedding, but no luck yet. She also recommended someone else but was way out of my price range. TIA This is one of the biggest details I have yet to figure out yet, and as of today it's one month until we leave. I'm hesitant about using the resort videographer (Oscar Video - Cancun - Riviera Maya) because I've never seen a sample of his work, and it's pretty pricey (380$ for one hour) when you don't know what you're getting from it. Also I want a bit more than 1 hour, probably 1.5 - 2 hours, so it would cost me even more than that. I really want a full video of the ceremony, and then a "highlights" video of ceremony and post-ceremony with a song. I'm not sure if the resort videographer gives you the full ceremony, although I read somewhere that somebody (forget who) asked for the full video but is still waiting for it. I haven't found any other cheap videographers. Miguel Cantarell are Dino Gomez are both much too expensive for me. Others I've found when googling are: Playa Weddings - Videography in Playa del Carmen and the Riviera Maya, Mayan Riviera Weddings - Wedding photography & video, and Inacqua Images - Playa del Carmen - México - Producciones audiovisuales, video, DVD, multimedia, filmación. I'm waiting to hear back from the later two about cost. Playa Weddings charges 400$ per hour but you need to get them for 2 hours to get a free highlights video (assuming I understood their pricing information correctly).

I'm usually a medium bikini bottom, sometimes large depending on if it's made small, so after reading this thread I put in an order and went for the large bottom (usually I would have ordered medium). I just got the suit and the bottom is too big And now it's sold out in medium Oh well, I can still wear it, it's not huge, but I am disappointed.

Alright, happy to hear we can put this thread behind us and move on with other discussions

Well first of all I didn't mean to offend anyone. This is a "suggestions and feedback" forum which is why I posted it as a comment rather than a question (but yeah, I had no idea you can turn them off). The truth is I don't want to turn them off completely, because I like seeing them too, they are fun and there are lots of really nice pictures. My point was only that some of them are huge. Most other forums I've been on have limits as to how big the pictures can be, I was just suggesting putting a limit (or if there is a limit in place, then making it smaller). I just don't like that sometimes one short post that is only 1 or 2 sentences and yet still takes up my entire screen. It just requires a lot of scrolling, that's all. I must say though, I'm pretty hurt and insulted in the way I've been bashed here, after making a comment in a feedback forum. Yes, in retrospect it could have been said nicer, but I don't think it was that bad either (again it being in a feedback forum, not in some other forum).

I just wanted to comment that I personally find it annoying that this site allows people to post really large signatures, like huge pictures along with all the other stuff (tickers etc). I think you should reduce the size of pictures people are allowed to post. There are some people who use really large pictures, and when they are posting several times in the same thread, the thread gets taken over by their pictures, not the information, which is what we all come here for.

These are set-up charges. They are broken down between setting up the chairs for the ceremony and setting up the places for the reception. And yes the ribbons cost extra. Also the Edyta got the Tiffany's chairs for her wedding at Dreams Cabo and they were extra. So ask Sandra how much she will charge for the Tiffany's chairs. 55$ per person is for the gold menu. You can also opt for the silver menu for 45$ per person. Or you can just choose from the regular restaurant menu for 20$ per person. Or you can eat at the buffet (as a group, but it's not private) for free. So there are options for every budget. All this is explained on page 15 of the Dreams Tulum Wedding Guide.

I've always been in touch with Landy. At first, before I booked, she was always very fast to get back to me, usually a few hours or one day but sometimes a couple days. Lately I get answers in about a week or two, so they are obviously more busy. Here is landy's address: [email protected] definetely email them if you have pressing questions, that's what I did when I was about to book and wanted to confirm the day and time of my ceremony, I couldn't wait around for an email response. BTW they don't work on weekends.

I emailed the resort to ask how I could get a copy of the resort photos on their website, and they sent me a link to this site which has info for media: AMResorts Media Site On the site I found this document that has lots of details about the resort, most of which I already knew but at least it's all in one place. I also found here the specifications about the dress code for the restaurants. Casual attire: Wold Cafe el Patio Seaside Grill Neat attire (long pants, sandals okay) Portofino Himitsu Bordeau Gohan EDIT: I also found the info I took off the website a few weeks ago (I had copied and saved it), the "neat attire" is long pants only, not closed toe shoes dreams tulum info.pdf

I got my mass email like a week ago and I'm getting married in April. Yes it's weird that they include everyone's email addresses. I took advantage of it to email everyone to see if anyone would be there at the same time as me, and to tell them to come check out this site! I hope nobody was too annoyed about that, lots of people replied sounding happy though.
