Punta Cana Princess?
SunBride replied to bobbysgirl's topic in Destination Weddings in Dominican Republic
the fact that it's adults only rules it out for many people since they have kids coming Also it's a pretty small resort, so naturally the number of people going there to get married will be less than a resort 3-4 times as big (as many of the mega complexes are). And some resorts are just less popular for weddings for no particular reason - probably because of marketing (they don't advertise their services enough). I don't think there is any particular reason that you need to be aware of. Here is a review and photos from a PCP bride on another (Canadian) forum. http://boards.weddingbells.ca/showfl...part=1#2892123 http://boards.weddingbells.ca/showfl...29181752892026 Also just try google searching Punta Cana Princess and Weddings and see if you can find some reviews from other sites. -

But if the bride is happy with her photos then that's all that matters! No offense, but it bugs me when photographers put eachother down like that. There is a market out there for everyone - let the brides who can't tell the difference and are on a tight budget be happy with their photos. Some people will know the difference, and they are willing to pay more. Others don't know the difference and are happy with lower quality photos and there is nothing wrong with that. I think it's great that there are such a range of quality and price out there to suit any bride's needs.

Dreams Tulum 6/04/08 Review- wow kinda long
SunBride replied to chibi411's topic in Destination Wedding Reviews
oh yeah, and great review! Nice pictures. you should post more (the link to your del sol slideshow when you get it) Also, I do think the chapel would be much better in November, spring/summer is so much hotter! Plus the sunsets so much earlier in the fall. If you do a late ceremony rather than afternoon it hopefully won't be too hot. chibi411 I don't know how you did it in there! It was unbearably hot in the chapel in March, I can't even imagine in June! -

Also there are no bracelets. I can totally see how you could get away without paying for day passes. In fact, I can see how you could get away without paying for some people period, just paying for the room and everyone else staying in the room for free! Not suggesting it, but I'm just saying, with no bracelets... -
chibi411's review is here for those looking for it http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t23169 As for the thread re: the email, I assume Tammy took it down because she did not approve of the email (if that's the case - whatever happened to free speech? It's not like I wrote anything bad!), although it could just be technical problems that caused the thread to disappear.

they have garters at dollarama! And they are actually nice (in my opinion). Make yourself a list with a few things to do every day for the next 10 days. Allow yourself a few days at the end of doing nothing (even if you plan on doing nothing, they will be crazy busy because there will be stuff left). Try really hard to stick to your schedule. You can do it!

What's more important to lose inches or pounds?
SunBride replied to Jenn3878's topic in Beauty, Exercise, Diet
definitely inches. I don't care what the scale says, I care about how I look! -

Goes to show what I was talking about in the email I just sent them. Tammy Host was not happy about my email, but maybe she doesn't realize how much trouble we are having at Dreams Tulum (and I know many brides on the Dreams forum are having problems at Dreams Punta Cana) Can't wait - I posted the email addresses on the other thread I created about my email. http://bestdestinationwedding.com/fo...000#post419488

so I called Vista Print - probably wouldn't have bothered since I didn't care that much, but you girls suggested it adn I had free time at work so why not. well I'm glad I did becuase I got a refund! She said they refunding the cost of the item (not shipping costs) and since it was free I thought that meant no refund, but actually I had paid 5$ to upload an image and 5$ to get envelopes so they refunded me that 10$. So now all I paid is approx 5$ shipping and taxes and stuff which came to 10$. She said there couldn't have been a defect, that's the paper they normally use. She also said all orders, US and Canada, are all printed in Canada. How unusual (usually us Canadians are the ones getting stuff from the US not the other way around). So I guess that means I got the same postcards as all you guys and maybe my expectations were just too high or something. I don't know, if that's the case, I'm really surprised several people here have said they are satisfied and I'm the only one who thought they were thin. Well who cares, I got half my money back!

Now fees charged for 1st bag checked?!?!?!
SunBride replied to IrieBride08's topic in Honeymoon Forum
honestly I don't think 15$ is such a big deal, it's very low. and it makes sense to charge people who bring luggage the fee rather than just increasing tickets prices for everyone by 10$ (don't get me wrong, I always have excessive loads of suitcases, and I think it's fair to pay just a little bit more - not a hundred more but a little is okay) -

I just started a new thread about it, since it concerns many resorts, so maybe if you want to comment it would be better to comment there rather than take over our board http://bestdestinationwedding.com/fo...000#post419488 Happy for your support. P.S. I start a new job Monday ladies. I'm hoping to be much more busy than my current job, so I may not have as much time to post, but I'll probably just stop browsing the rest of the forum and only keep up to date on this thread.

ROR Photographer's Policy Change

I think it's just his way of getting paid for his time! I agree again with jmhein, because if he shows up for free and you buy nothing you've wasted his time. So for 160$ he shows up and you get 6 photos and you can buy more for a costly fee per photo or go with one of the packages for more photos at a reasonable price. -
Stadium Cups or Travel Mugs?

Hi Ladies Just thought I'd share with you this email I just sent to AM Resorts (the parents company of Dreams, Secrets, and the now virtually defunt Sunscape resort chains) I am writing to let you know about the difficulties most brides at the Dreams Resorts are having in getting in touch with their wedding coordinator. I was recently married at Dreams Tulum (April 1st) and my own personal experience was that initially the coordinator responded fairly quickly to confirm availability for the ceremony, but in the three months that preceeded my wedding I had to wait weeks to receive responses to my questions, and often the responses were so short and un-detailed that I was left with more questions than answers. In the end, everything worked out wonderfully and the coordinator did a wonderful job (you can see my testimonial on the dreams tulum website!) but it was stressful to have so little contact with the coordinator before leaving. As one specific example, I received an answer to a question I sent before the wedding a month after my wedding! I am very involved on the Best Destination Wedding forum where there is a 75 page long thread (i.e. hundreds of posts) of discussion about Dreams Tulum. There are dozens of brides getting married at that resort in the next few months, and they are all complaining about lack of email contact with the wedding coordinator. It is most frustrating for brides who are trying to confirm their wedding date, and also for brides who are departing in the next few weeks. The problem is definitely not only with the Dreams Tulum coordinator, because there is also some discussion about Dreams Punta Cana. In fact if you check out your own forum (Dreams Resorts & Spas - Login) you will see thread after thread written by brides who are begging for help and stressing about the lack of contact with their wedding coordinator (most of these brides are getting married at Dreams Punta Cana). One other issue that may help is providing more detailed and clearer information in the Wedding Guide. Many of the questions brides are sending to the coordinator by email are as a result of lack of information and detail in the Wedding Guide, specifically about the policies for receptions. I think that this is a serious issue and that something needs to be done about it. Honestly, I think it’s an embarrassment for a 5 star resort that people have to wait weeks to find out if their wedding date is available and confirmed. If your resorts want to be in the wedding business, you should provide the service that goes with it. While the end product (the wedding) is fabulous, many brides go elsewhere simply because they want to work with a wedding coordinator who will provide them the information they need in a timely fashion. Thank you for taking the time to hear my concerns

the two beach locations are pretty similar, the one by the seaside grill has less people around and has the rocks nearby which are nice for pictures. If you check out the photos in the link I posted a while back (it would be like the first week of April) there were tons of pictures of the other beach location (the one next to the aqua rentals center) EDIT: okay I'm stupid, the link is in my review, at the bottom! anyways here it is again SunBride's photos of Dreams Tulum Resort

STRESS!! My flower's haven't shipped!
SunBride replied to Amy&Andy's topic in Wedding Flowers, decoration, cake, etc.
I've heard a few other canadian girls on another forum saying they used the same company (Hibiscus Florals) and have been more than happy. -
wow, I'd be freaking out. Hope you are handling it better than I would have. Was there also an email address directly posted or just the contact field? If the email address was there, most people who were very interested would have followed up with an email when they didn't hear back. Some also likely phoned instead, although phoning always requires more effort so probably less would have done this Good luck for the coming season.

we just have a joint account and we don't each have our own "spending money" budget. Sometimes my FH thinks we should, because I get on his case about eating out a lot and buying expensive computer games. In reality, I spent more than him but it's on house stuff and things like that that aren't only for me. I rarely spend money on fun stuff just for myself (except for clothes, and even then, I spend about as much on my clothes as I spend buying his - he hates to shop so I buy all his). I personally don't like the idea of having each our own "do whatever you want" budget. I'd rather work on a case by case basis. When we do small purchases we don't check with eachother, but when we do large ones (like over 100$) then we might run it by the other person first to see if they think it's a good idea. Although my husband says he wants his own spending budget so that I'm not "checking up" on his spending, I remind him that it would have taken him a while to save up for his 1500$ computer or the 600$ he spent on the Wii and accesorries. I personally think this works better because we don't save up for special purchases, as long as we both agree it's worthwhile we just get it right away. Then again, we have more money than we need for our current lifestyle (just dumping it all on the mortgage). If you are on a really tight budget then I can see how each person having an individual personally spending fund would be good.

Brides without travel agent?
SunBride replied to RastaBride's topic in Destination Weddings in Jamaica
We were only 10 people so we just booked through an online travel agency (although I did phone them) and just dealt with whatever TA I got. But if you are booking a lot of people a TA would be better. However I think it's best to suggest your guests use your TA, but don't force them. Some brides have gotten slack from guests who don't like their TA and complain about them. If you tell guests they can book with your TA or book any other way you want then they will be happier because it is after all their money. Most will likely choose to go with your TA for simplicity sake. -
What was your biggest adjustment after getting married?
SunBride replied to melglnh2o's topic in Chit Chat Corner!
absolutely zero adjustment, we had been living together for 4 years and for 2 hours in the home we bought together, we already shared our money and everything. so nothing has changed at all. it's almost sad - something should have changed!
