I did most of what Tammy suggested (without having seen this thread until now) but I have a few of my own pointers to add - don't go overboard of the permutations/combinations of people on the required photo list. We were only 10 people (us, parents, sisters and one boyfriend) and I gave my photographer a list of probably 20 different combinations of those people. Looking back, some of the combinations were kinda dumb and definitely not that important (i.e. just the four parents, the two of us with his parents, the two of us with my parents, the two of us with all 4 parents, multiple groupings including my SIL's boyfriend and then the same groupings without him). Because my list was so long, my photographer missed one of the essential groupings - my family with my husband! So I have a picture of just my family (without my husband) and a picture of us and my parents (without my sister). I am pretty sad about not having my family and husband in one photo, and my mom was really really disappointed because she only wanted to frame 2 pictures, one of just the 2 of us, and one of the 5 of us (which we didn't get). -Since people were talking about how to hold the bouquet, my photographer was good at this, for close up pictures (like from the stomach up) she made us hold the flowers just under our chest. It looks awesome because the photos are right at the bottom line of the pic, but not covering any important stuff. At my AHR I remembered this and tried to copy it, but I held the photos higher, like chest level, which covered the nicest part of the dress (the chest). I wish I was holding them just a bit lower. Here's some pics to show what I mean Good ones: wish we were holding the bouquet a little lower - Also, if you are taking pics with just one other person, it's nice if you both hold your bouquet (gives the other person some place to put their hand). -Oh yeah, and my photographer's number one thing, always put one foot in front of the other, makes everyone look so much nicer, more relaxed (and gives you a bit of hip/attitude like in the pic of me alone. I would have looked so awkward if I had my two feet together!)

Those who flew a photographer in...
SunBride replied to endlesslove's topic in General Wedding Planning Information
My photographer only charged me 800$ + travel fees (her regular for all day wedding coverage is a little over 2000$) because she had only done 2 other DWs (both the same week and resort). Now that she has a much larger DW portfolio (as she took an insane amount of pictures for my wedding) she is charging 2000$ + travel fees, so almost the same price as her regular at home package, although you also get the trash the dress plus candid photos of the rest of the week. From what I heard, most photographers do offer a discount, and those who haven't done a DW definitely offer a much larger discount than those who are extremely popular. Many even do their first DW free (travel fees only)! -
I just found a link to this DT wedding on tripadvisor Destination wedding at Dreams Tulum resort - photos by Joseph Kohn About a third of the way down the photos, I notice a pic of my newsletter! (which I shared with many of you on the old thread. See the "member contribution" section of this new thread for more info) The names and wedding date is on there and so it has to be Ellsbell who is a member of this forum. Hope she doesn't mind that i'm posting this link, but it's already posted on trip advisor anyways Update Forgot to comment on the photos - Awesome! And what a beautiful bride. I LOVED her hair style!

I think I'm going to add a links section on the first page for a bunch of different links related to both the Mayan Riviera Area and to Dreams Tulum. So please send me any links you have. I got this idea because I just came across this link on Elizabeth Medina's website (while looking for the link for dreamstulumbride's photos). This link is all the weddings that she has shot at Dreams Tulum. Two were just last month. (I couldn't help but notice that the set-up from the June 15th wedding looked similar to mine - the starfish on the chairs and similar flower arrangements on the aisle. Maybe somebody who was lurking on this forum!) Elizabeth Medina Photography Dreams Tulum Weddings UPDATE: Okay, I've started the links section (just with links to photos so far). It's on the last post of the first page: LINKS

Oh, just thought of another one I had thought of yesterday Type of ceremony - civil, symbolic or religious (I know symbolic and religious are kinda the same idea, but I think there is still a difference because symbolic is done by the wedding coordinator, whereas for a religious one you would get a minister or something like that to perform the ceremony)
-
Thanks Blkatz and Chandrathebride, I'll add your info. Keep it coming ladies. I'm hoping this info will help you guys when you are looking for somebody who did something particular. We get a lot of questions like "has anyone done X?", "what time is your ceremony at" or "how many guests does everyone have" or "who has used the resort photographer?" and so my thinking was that the detailed bride list would help answer these questions. Also, there are so many of us, i know I sometimes get confused by who is doing what so this can help us remember that, and also direct certain questions to certain members. I'm adding two new questions since these ones also comes up often - which wedding package did you use and what did you add to it? and Type of ceremony - civil, symbolic or religious (I know symbolic and religious are kinda the same idea, but I think there is still a difference because symbolic is done by the wedding coordinator, whereas for a religious one you would get a minister or something like that to perform the ceremony)

Yes the Sephora is new, I'd say the last month or two. It's where Bata shoes used to be a white ago (kinda an obscure corner of the mall) When I got my make-up done at SDM, the lady used Lise Watier products. She said that and Smashbox were the best, I think maybe Smashbox was more expensive which is maybe why I went for Lise Watier.
-
shoppers drug mart also says Smashbox and you can get a cosmetician to do your makeup. That's what I ended up doing (a spur of the moment thing, I was planning on going to MAC but then was at Shoppers and the lady offered to do it so I figured why not) and I really liked what she did and all it cost was that I had to buy one product (normal the cheap make-up like covergirl, but one product from the more expensive lines)

well most people said it was getting way too long and too hard to find the information we were looking for. We were getting the same questions over and over. I asked others what they thought of a new thread continuously updated with info at the beginning and they all agreed (well the dozen or so people who responded). Don't forget that when you planned your wedding, the thread had just started and there were way less brides. Now this thread has become overwhelming. I don't think any new brides actually take the time to read all 1000s posts. Even if this one "dies", i.e. falls to the back pages of the forum, it will still always be here and brides can come look through it if they want (I provided the link in the new thread).

The mods have told me they will be merging any Dreams Tulum questions over to that thread. They work hard to try to keep things organized in these forums. It's better to have one thread for all Dreams Tulum Qs & As instead of seperate threads for each question. (for those of you who are confused, this is in response to ERNurse's question re: transportation. That whole thread was merged over to this one. So even though it says "that thread" above it actually means "this thread"!)

Thanks Amy 706 I'll add your info lgarner83 - I would say it sounds like Dreams Tulum is not for you, it's pretty laid back at night. You would want to be in Cancun or Playa Del Carmen so that you can hit the bars at night. If you want an evening party at Dreams Tulum you'll have to create it yourself with your group!

I haven't been following the most recent posts so I don't know if this has already been mentioned but I just had a small suggestion that I forgot to write when I posted my questions and compliments a few days ago - for the hand ceremony layout, you may want to make the picture more transparent or the writing more bold because it's a bit hard to read.

Okay ladies, the new thread is ready!!! http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t25547 For those who don't know what this is about, I suggested this last month (around page 80 or 90) and got overwhelming support for the idea of a new thread with all the most important and recent information continuously updated at the beginning of the thread. So we can let this one die now, unless people want to answer a previous question, but for new questions let's post them in the new thread. Hopefully in the next couple days we can completely let this one die
