Nutritional Cleanse - added bonus - lose weight!?
SunBride replied to Nrsggrl's topic in Beauty, Exercise, Diet
There was another huge thread somewhere here of people doing the Colonix (might have spelling error) cleanse. I recently did a cleanse called First Cleanse. It is a light cleanse for people doing a cleanse for the first time. Then you can (optionally) follow it up with a normal (i.e. stronger) cleanse. My sister recommended First Cleanse because she lost 20 lbs in 2 weeks! So she did a 2nd one back-to-back (you aren't really suppose to, but she did this rather than following it with a normal cleanse) and lost 15 lbs the following week. She loved it and said she felt wonderful. When my husband and I did it, we felt very little effect. I didn't loose weight probably because I ate way more than I usually do (because I had food constantly on my mind). I was eating as per the strict diet but just eating more. My husband lost maybe 3-5 lbs. I'm guessing the reason we didn't loose a lot of weight is that we normally eat semi healthy, whereas my sister eats more junk food which is probably why she lost a lot. The program is basically you take 2 pills in the morning and 2 pills in the evening. Then you follow a diet where you only eat: -fruits and vegetables -chicken and fish -nuts -brown rice It's a 2 week program. Hope this info helps! You can buy First Cleanse at a health food store. Here is a link for the product Renew Life | Digestive Care | First Cleanse Most importantly, since this is a gentle cleanse you won't be stuck on the toilette all the time. My bowel movements hardly changed while on this. -
while adding you I notice there is already another bride the same day, dreamstbride. And Nueland is the day before you guys!

Welcome! I'll add you to our bride list! We're starting to get quite a few DT brides from Canada! Feel free to introduce yourself in our thread too as most people probably don't make their way over here (kinda a fluke I saw it actually) http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t25646

Do you HAVE to book your ceremony through the Cruise ship?

But back on the topic, I attended a cruise wedding, the ceremony was at Magen's Bay, St-Thomas and it was beautiful! I think we all paid our own taxi to get to the ceremony. There are always a ton of taxis next to the port. -

How the heck do you set a budget??
SunBride replied to bashigyal's topic in Destination Weddings in Jamaica
it probably helps if you research a bit before setting a budget, so that you can get an idea of how much stuff costs and then decide how much to budget for each. If you budget without any idea of costs your budget might not be unrealistic. Many people do their weddings for under 10K or even 7K. The most expensive items will probably be -your trips (probably like 2000$-5000$ for both of you) -photography (anywhere from 500$ to several thousand dollars) -your reception room & food (often free in the buffet restaurant but can cost a few thousand if you want a private restaurant and special dinner menu) -attire (a normal range is probably anywhere from 500$ to 2500$ for groom's suit, your dress, veil, shoes etc). -
oriental trading company sells bags of starfish chars, they are like 4$ for 25 charms or something like that. I just bought the starfish ones but I think they might have others too....

TIA!!! Ohh, love the idea of playing your guests' wedding songs! That's awesome. As for the rest, I can't help in that area, but why not check other parts of the forum since it's not really a question specific to DT. I know I've seen a bunch of other threads about wedding music before. Just a suggestion in case you don't get enough responses here.

I did extensive research on all the golf courses and put all the info in my newsletter. Thanks so much. Yeah it's 45$ for the full car (not per person) so you could split the cost between a few people. Some tour groups also organize bar hoping tours so you could do one of those too.

Anyone else planning on having your bachelorete party when you get down to Tulum? What are you planning on doing? I had the same issue for the bachelorette. The drive is about 45 minutes as it's pretty much half way to Cancun. The cost is 45$ by cab. Another option is the public bus, which is only 2$, but this is not recommended as a safe option in the evening, only a good option for shopping for the day. It obviously takes a little longer than the cab since it stops a lot, although I hear it's not too bad, about an hour. Because it was so expensive to go to Playa Del Carmen (and because it was just my sisters and the two moms) we just did a mini bachelorette at the resort. I talk a bit about this in my review if you want to know what it was like.

the question about shipping has been asked before and most people did not recommend it. Why not hand out your OOT bags at the airport or a couple days before leaving? This is what many brides do. Also, do you have any people coming who won't use all their luggage allowance? Give them a few heavy things of yours. I had 6 suitcases to bring to bring for us, and we were allowed 2 each, but luckily my parents only packed 1 each so I just gave them my extra 2 and didn't have to pay anything.

If you know the info could you clarify which outdoor locations you can have music at, aside from renting out el patio..... Thank you soo much! Sorry to worry you! I just remembered Neen asked Landy about this and Landy said to ignore the official policy and they will allow music outside until 10:30pm (even though the wedding guide said no music for outdoor events). Just make sure to confirm with one of the coordinators (it's always best to confirm everything with them and have it in writting and bring all emails with you just in case there are any last minute problems!)

Thank you for giving all of us brides this opportunity & I am beyond appreciative for you choosing Josh & I! We are elated! It's rare for people with your kind of gift for photography to give things like this away anymore these days...you don't know how grateful we are that there are giving people like you still around! Thank you, Thank you, Thank you a thousand times over! Laura & Josh Wow Niels, I didn't know you won this, I wasn't following (too many replies to this thread). I'm so happy a Dreams Tulum bride won! I can't wait to see your pics. You'll HAVE TO post them when you get back. So many brides say they will but don't, but I'm going to hold you to it -
wedding umbrella help
SunBride replied to Michelle&Steve's topic in General Wedding Planning Information
Asianideas has them for cheap, the colored ones are usually on sale for 3-4$ (regular price 6$). They are sold out of white for 2008 but I think they still have most or all colors available -

You could probably get away with doing your first dance to music (like using Ipod dock or something) outside but you can't have a full out reception out there because it would be disruptive to the other guests. EDIT: According to Neen's Q&A with Landy, you can have music until 10:30pm at the beach/pool.

Private or semi-private? Can you have a DJ at this reception site? thanks That could be either private or semi-private, it's impossible to tell if there are regular guests (none wedding guests) inside the restaurant. If you have your reception on the terrace, and don't pay the private event fee, your wedding guests will be the only ones on the terrace, but you will have other resort guests right next to you on the inside of the restaurant. As Neen just said, you can only have a DJ if you pay the private fee. Although I think somebody has said in the past (recently, like a few months ago) that they didn't end being charged the private event fee because their group was big enough that they took up the whole terrace and restaurant and so Landy didn't bother charging them. I think that's just a case of being lucky. You can't count on these things. But there are quite a few stories of brides getting different stuff for free when they were suppose to be charged.

I see you're in Canada. I actually have a simple white sundress I would be willing to sell if you're interested. I wore it on my wedding day before putting on my real dress, and then was suppose to wear it for TTD but I ended up wearing my real dress for that. So it's only been worn half a day! I would totally sell it because I would likely never wear it again and I know how hard it can be to find this stuff when you need to (I had so much trouble finding a white purse and sandals in Jan-March!) Anyways, PM me if you are interested. It's likely a size medium.

try to set yourself a budget per bad, and also a budget per item. Like I tried not to spend more than 20$ per bag (but I only had 8 guests and I made one bag per couple so only 5 bags!!!). I also didn't let myself spend more than 3$ per item - it just isn't worth it seeing as you really don't know whether the person will use the item or not. For example, sunscreen can be expensive (like at leat 7$ per bottle and I couldn't find any travel size ones) and I assumed that everyone would know to buy some so I didn't bother. But I figured people wouldn't necessarily think of brining aloe vera so I bought that instead. Just try to set limits because it's so easy to get carried away. For advance purchases, I would try to limit yourself to only the best deals. And I think it would be better to underestimate the number of guests, and then buy extra stuff later, rather that have tons of leftover unused stuff
