don't worry, the OP asked for advice so you definitely didn't overstep your boundaries. I'm sure Yourstruly wasn't referring to your comments, just trying to give some general helpful advice. Good luck BajaBride

what are the beaches like in Jamaica?
SunBride replied to SunBride's topic in Destination Weddings in Jamaica
Thanks for all the help ladies! I am still undecided. We are hoping to go in mid-January, assuming we can get a week off work. The research continues... -

I know other brides have said they have taken them out of the room. One person who did just reminded people to bring batteries, that way you don't have to search for a plug wherever you bring it (especially if you were to bring it to the beach for example!). So I guess a good question would be what size batteries does it take.

you aren't allowed to take wedding pictures at the ruins. You can take other professional pictures, you just can't be wearing a wedding dress. I know, I got kicked out (read about it in my review, linked in my signature. It's at the end of the review). Same also happened to another recent couple, the thread is somewhere in the mayan rivera forum, it's called TTD photos ruined or something like that

one of the things my co-worker mentioned to me was that you have to be on 7 mile beach in negril to be on the best part. She said the Riu's are on a small bay just off 7 mile beach and it wasn't quite as awesome. Although the beach sounds best in Negril, I think I've decided on Ocho Rios because I want us to have more stuff to do off the resort and the beach still wounds pretty awesome there. -
Having a baby after you turn 35 years old? Does age really matter?
SunBride replied to samanthag's topic in Chit Chat Corner!
I did a little research on this for a paper a few years ago, and health risks for the baby (and complications for the mother) slightly increased between 30-35 (hardly, but slightly), and then more so from 35-40, but it was only after 40 that the risks were considerably higher. So I wouldn't be too worried about having a kid at 35ish, but I would if I was closer to 40. Also by late 30s many people say they don't have the energy levels they had a few years earlier to handle the sleepless nights and running after young kids. -

Neen, check out page 2 for a couple pictures of that gazebo. The 2 big differences in my opinion are the fact that it's a bit less private (there are people all around you, versus only on one side if you are at the gazebo next to seaside grill) and that the ocean isn't as nice looking because there is coral in the water there (next to the seaside grill is actually the best part of the beach, so the ocean looks better). Also there would be the fact that you are closer to the rocks area for your pictures, but you could always walk over that way. Why not wait till you get there and have a look to decide. I know a couple people have gotten married there, but not many, most are next to the seaside grill. Laura (from late 07 or early 0 got married there and has photos. I don't remember offhand who the others are.

Hi ladies. I have a TON of updates to do to the beginning of the thread as I haven't been submitting them to Carly (our DT mod) for the past few weeks as I haven't had the time to get it organized and write out the instructions for her on what info goes where. But I will get to that soon! As part of the updates, I went though a bunch of reviews to put together this info to add to the DT brides detailed list. I assume this type of info is helpful for brides who want to read about another brides specific info (either a reception location, or review of the resort photographer) but doesn't know who did what. It's so helpful when people write reviews so I want to make sure the info is being used by new brides, especially since past brides usually aren't around to answer questions. I only post these post-wedding details for the brides who actually write the reviews. So here are all the ones that posted reviews after me (the links to their reviews have been there in the short bride list ever since they were originally posted, but only now am I putting together the little summaries). To all our recent brides from the past few weeks, can you do me (us) a favor and answer the following questions? It will save me from going through the review to find the info: Username: Names: Date: Wedding package: Wedding extras (and cost): Type of ceremony Coordinator: Number of guests: Ceremony location and time: Cocktails location and time Reception location and time: Photographer: Videographer: Review: Photos: Video: Special arrangments: See my review for …. (i.e. any detailed info in your review that you think might be usefull for future brides, i.e. such as Carly saying "see my review for why I was unhappy with the florist" that kind of thing) You don't have to answer all the questions, just whatever ones you want to / apply to you All the below will be posted on page 1, but just thought I'd put it here so that you'd know Username: leamil Names Leah and Jeff Date: April 19 Wedding package: Ultimate Wedding extras (and cost): private reception (free!) Also to add, I don't know if any of you have been to Punta Cana, but I thought the beach there was amazing, so clean and so blue, I don't know if anyone can compare Negril or others to that for me. Don't want to get my hopes up too high expecting it to be the same. -
So I'm about to plan our first trip to Jamaica (our belated honeymoon!) and I'm wondering what the beaches are like. When I was planning our wedding I was really disappointed about the beaches in the mayan riviera, most places there are rocks and coral in the water. I'm assuming the beaches in Jamaica are awesome but I wanted to double check rather than assume, and also ask for recommendations for the best beaches. I'm looking for clear water and an ocean that looks beautifully deep blue. Any info / advice you ladies can give me would be greatly appreciate. I've just started researching resorts and I'm more or less making my resort choice based on price and location. Some of the obvious places that are coming up are Montego Bay, Ocho Rios and Negril. Also what about Rio Bueno or Runaway Bay?

EXTRA long DT wedding review 11/28/08

Some of the brides have been happy with the photographer's work, so maybe there is one that is better than the other. -
I would say definitely do the shower, it will make your mom happy, but then put on the invitaitons "your presence is your gift". It will keep people from being upset that you are inviting them to a shower but not the wedding (i.e. thinking that the shower is a "gift grab) but those who really want to give a gift will do so anyways.

wow, there was even more to your review! Maybe ask one of the mods to add a comment at the end of your past post on page 1 to say something like "REVIEW CONTINUED ON PAGE 4" so that people don't miss it
