Now my planner is saying she doesn't think we need it but the resort website says it is required and I'm panicking that I'm not going to be able to get this done before we leave on April 19th! Any advice is welcome! Thanks! No you just need a regular birth certificate. I posted that info on page 1 (section 4). The info on the website is definitely misleading. The reason you are getting the emails is because your settings are set so that you get an email everytime somebody adds something on this thread. If you don't want to receive the emails, change your settings (I think you go to "quick links" in the upper left corner and then "edit options" I can't try it now becuase I will lose what I am doing) This is a thread to a forum, people will answer other peoples questions if they know what the answer is, they post it for everyone to see because that info can be helpful for other people too. But it means there is a lot of info that may not be useful to you. It's best to come visit this thread ever day or two or three and take 5-10 minutes to read what everyone has posted and if anything in useful for you, copy the info into your wedding planner book or whatever because you may have trouble finding it again later since there is so much info. Our thread can definitely be overwhelming because we have a lot of brides posting a lot of questions and other information. That is why I created this thread and posted all the most important info on page 1. It would take forever for somebody to read the whole thread from page 1 to page 179! The more time you spend on the forum, the more you will find out how it works. Quote: Originally Posted by angruck I had a thought when I was trying to come up with decoration ideas. That way costs are down for both and everyone isn't lugging all the stuff back and forth before and after the wedding. Anyone interested in this? We would each have to talk to each other and see who is using a color or decoration we like. I wonder if landy and anabel would hold the stuff at the hotel if the weddings are close together. People have asked about leaving stuff at the resort but unfortunately the coordinators said no because they have no space to store the stuff. For the civil ceremony, the text is posted with the attachments under post #5 (towards the bottom of the page, right before "member contributions" section) Always remember to save the attachments, otherwise it uses up points every time you open them.

So basically does anyone know or has anyone used the material at the resort for other things besides just the tables? Also does anyone know if they have fabric to drape on the ceiling of the seaside grille or is that something that everyone has just brought from home? Thanks ladies! I think can't wait was the first one to get the seaside grill drapped with material (check page 1, I put it under "member contributions") and the resort charged them several hundred dollars to buy the material!!!! I would definitely bring your own. It's so cheap at idearibbon .com Plus it's not that heavy to pack, although if you bring like 6 big bolts it might take up a whole large suitcase (although it might not cost too much since it's so light). When I packed mine, I pulled out the cardboard piece from the middle and it took up way less space.

Im a professional, with the responsibility of traveling, shooting, archiving, traveling home, and editing to deliver what I hope to be amazing photos to a bride and groom. Although I love to travel and photograph weddings, Im not really going to go into why its not a vacation. If anyone wants to know why, id be happy to respond to a PM. But trust me, if you hire a professional, there's no "vacation" involved. Although it may not be a full "vacation" for the photographer, there is still some vacation to it. I mean, you may be working a lot of the time but chances are you do still have some time to relax and enjoy the sunshine. I mean, no offense, but on the flip side of what you are saying, I have a problem with photographers saying that travelling to photograph a wedding is not a vacation at all! I guess it depends on how long you are going for and how much you are working. If you are only there 2-3 days then yet, between the travelling and the photographing there may not be much time to relax. In my experience, my photographer was there for a full week with us (travelling from Canada, it's pretty much the same price to go for a week or 3-4 days). She photographed all day on the wedding day, and a 2 hour trash the session the next day. Other than that, she pretty much only took photos of us three times, in the couple hours following our arrival, on our trip to the ruins (and she still did her own thing most of the time we were there, she just shot pictures of us for a bit of the time) and one day on the beach she took a bunch of pictures of our group. She took a couple other pictures here and there if she had her camera with her. I would say that over 75% of the vacation she had no obligation to us and didn't even have her camera with her. Now that being said, I realize that she was on this vacation alone, not with a friend, her daughter or anyone else, so it was somewhat of a lonely trip for her, plus she had no say in the location or the resort, so it's definitely not the same as a real vacation. But it would also be totally wrong to say she was working the whole time and didn't get to relax and enjoy the sunshine and beautiful resort. Bottom line I think is that the fact that the couple are paying the photographer's trip definitely has to count for something, although it's not the same as if they were giving that amount to the photographer in cash. It may not be a full "vacation" but it's probably still better than being at home! That's why there are so many photographers out there dying to do DWs. Not saying all this to attack you personally Nic. I've just read so many times photographers saying that shooting a DW isn't a vacation at all, and I guess I just find it hard to believe they don't find a little time outside the wedding day to enjoy themselves.

There are probably not a lot of November brides still around, so the best way to get the answers to your questions would be 1) go look at the list of brides and send a PM to the november ones (especially the ones who actually posted reviews, they are more likely to respond) 2) read the review of the ones who got married in November and see what they say about the weather 3) start a thread in the Mayan Riviera sub-forum with the subject "Weather in November" and ask for opinions from other November brides. The weather isn't something specific to DT so might as well draw on the experience of all brides in the area. But before posting a thread like that it would be a good idea to do a search and see if you find something similar (if you do, just add to that thread instead of starting a new one). I know one time somebody started a thread about weather and Paul Schrank, videographer from PlayaWeddings (he did my video) gave a really good description of the different seasons and in his opinion which were best for weddings.

The problem is we don't know who the 15% tip goes to. If I were you, I would ask one of the coordinators how the tips are split. I'm sure the food staff will get some of it, so I wouldn't be too worried about that. I would want to make sure the coordinators get a share, so if they didn't, or if I was unsure, I would give a seperate amount to them. The good thing about tipping is that a little goes a long way in mexico. For example even giving just a 20-50$ tip to the coordinator would be very appreciated. It would probably be equivalent to more than a day's pay (maybe several days, I can't remember the exact amount resort people get paid, I just remember it's very low by our standards).

Natasha Richardson has died after skiing accident
SunBride replied to Christine's topic in Celebrity Gossip!
Makes me wonder if she was wearing a ski helmet. A young girl from Toronto died a week or two ago from hitting a tree. She was wearing a helmet. So a helmet doesn't protect 100% although obviously it helps a lot. I wear one and I don't see why others don't. It's comfortable and keeps my head worm. Is it really simply because it's not fashionable? There are so many people wearing them now days (when I ski at Mont Tremblant I would say a good 30% or more of skiers/snowboarders are wearing them) that it's not like you stand out when you wear one. -

You could have your cocktail hour at the Sugar Reef bar. There is a huge seating area that is shaded. It's a really nice bar and right next to the beach. If your wanting your guests to have the stuff before they arrive do what I did. I just sent each guest their bag by fed ex and they brought all their goodies along. I'm going to quote your experience on page 1. We get this question a lot about people sending stuff in advance. I think it's best that they learn from others' mistakes!

Some said that they stressed about it before hand but it ended up not being a big deal at all. I don't think anyone has complained about it, everybody was plenty surprised that it went very well. You could do a bonfire, or go to the disco. Or you could just gather at the Sugar Reef bar for more drinking and chatting.

Couples Resorts Mega Thread
SunBride replied to ErinB's topic in Sandals, Beaches, and Royal Plantation Resorts Weddings
Awesome thread! I'm sure future Couples brides will really appreciate it. I know the Dreams Tulum ladies really appreciate all the work I put into that thread and it makes it all worthwhile. This link is posted in my review of my trip to Couples Sans Souci (which I notice you posted the link to) but it may be worth having it's own link to make sure it's not missed (I know my review is crazy long and people might not notice this link to pictures). These are all the pictures I took of the resort on my trip. I took special care to take a ton of pictures of the resort during the trip, and I even put captions under each photo to explain what they were, hoping it would be helpful for future brides. Married Ladies and Long-Time Members...Check in Here
SunBride replied to ErinB's topic in Chit Chat Corner!
Don't worry 2bebridejamaica, as time wears on you will start to get over the wedding withdrawal. I know for me it was really bad in the first few months but now in the past 6 months or so it's died down a lot. It's resurfacing a little this more though this month since it's our 1 year anniversary. -
Married Ladies and Long-Time Members...Check in Here
SunBride replied to ErinB's topic in Chit Chat Corner!
Well for the first 6 months or so following the wedding I was sad all the planning ws over. I planned mine so quickly (4 months from engagement to wedding, and the first month and a half was spent choosing a resort so that left 2 and a half months for all the other fun stuff!) that I didn't have time to get sick of it at all. I was sad it was over. I had the two reception after so that stretched things out for an extra 3 months but it wasn't as exciting as planning for the actual wedding and trip. During that time of wedding withdrawal I threw myself into helping the Dreams Tulum brides plan for their weddings, as many of you know from having a peak at our awesome thread. It's been fun helping them as they are so greatful for my help. But my interest in that is slowly wearing off and I'm not needed as much as I used to be as the thread has really taken off and there is a huge amount of ressources (list of upcoming and past brides, reviews and pictures) to help out the future girls. I just wish there was that much info available when I was in the planning stage. (The same can be said of the whole forum, it has really taken off like crazy!) But I will continue to post a few updates in the thread to keep those lists and links up to date. We will be celebrating our first year anniversary is a few weeks. I'm feeling so nostalgic thinking back to how much fun I had last year with the planning. I definetly miss the DIY projects the most. I was VERY crafty as a kid, spending all my allowances on craft supplies. I stopped doing crafts when I was in my mid-teens. The wedding was the first time I got back into making beautiful things by hand and I loved it. I'm also nostalgic thinking back about the trip, as it was a wonderful experience to spend a week with our families (it was just mine and my husband's immediate families there, 9 of us, so it was really special). I've love to vacation with them again, I want to make it a bi-annual tradition (one year my side of the family, one year my husband's) but I can't seem to convince anyone, none of them have the money to travel or if they do they have other types of travel they would prefer rather than all-inclusives. But definitely I wish we could do a trip like that again because it was really wonderful. I have been contemplating starting a little wedding side business, either wedding planning or selling/renting wedding supplies, but haven't really done anything concrete yet and don't think I will soon, it will just stay as an idea in the back of my mind for now, along with all the other business/career ideas I have. The one wedding thing that is still left for me to do is my photobook. I am making one using Lumapix Photofusion (like Morgan!) so it's very time consuming, it takes me an hour or more per layout. I decided to use this as I hated how mypublisher and Blurb and the other programs really limit you in what you can do with your layout (picture size and position, text position, font and color, etc). But doing it all manually definitely takes longer, especially if you are a perfectionist like me. I procrastinated for a long time as I new it would be very time consuming. I started at Christmas and am now almost half done. I have been working really hard on it the last month and hope to have it done in another month or two I really gotta get it done soon otherwise nobody will ever look at it! As for personally, nothing has really changed. I find it funny that some of you find marrage to have been an ajustment or to have had changes in your relationship. For me and my husband, things are the same as before and the wedding was just to make it official. But we had been living together for 3 years already, 2 years of that in the house we had bought together, and we had been sharing our money since buying the house, so NOTHING changed at all when we got married, there were no new rules or routines to adjust to. There definitely was no "honeymoon" phase. When we got married we said it would be probably 3-5 years before we had kids. Now that I see how boring our life is, I don't really see the point it waiting too long (unless I make a career change and things take off, which I would love to do but not sure what/how). It's been a year already, I think we will wait another 6 months or a year before trying, or at least we will re-evaluate then. I can't believe how many people get pregnant asap after getting married, although I guess I am one of the younger brides (25 when I got married, just turned 26). Okay, I've babbled on for WAY longer than planned! -

SO excited to be here - I've been lurking for almost a whole year!! You are all wonderful and have awesome information to share. It's so much appreciated! I do have a question, though =) I need to find a DJ/MC for the reception. I looked into DJ Bob (who I found in the vendor reviews page), but he's booked. I also looked into DJ Mannia who is just too darn expensive. Any other recommendations? BTW: Sunbride, you are the best! So helpful! You're like the DT guru! And your photographs are BEAUTIFUL! Wow, your wedding is less than a month away! You should have stopped lurking sooner!!! Makes me wonder how many brides we really have on this thread since I would guess that for every bride who has said hello, there are probably at least a few who haven't, so we probably really have several hundreds, maybe even a thousand brides on here! Anyways, good luck with the last minute planning.
