I just wanted to give a big shout out to the media for freaking out, blowing things out of proportion, and screwing with people's weddings... seriously... I have been saying it all along, so many more people die from the regular flu, AND Tamiflu is now ineffective on this years flu strain.... but I didn't hear that being reported on the news?? Maybe they should report of things that are really messed up like how Gov. Paterson of New York didn't pay his taxes for five years because he was "depressed." That one got swept under the rug REAL quick.... sorry, had to vent...

your opinion is needed =)

My TA told me Melia Caribe and Paradisus Palma Real are very nice in Punta Cana... I looked through the information for them and they both look really good. My chiropractor also tole me Melia Caribe is beautiful... -
Continental cut down flights and we don't leave for our wedding until June 24th!! They have all of our guests bumped to different flights for both the departure and return as well! I think they are cutting down the amount of flights per day because of the extreme amount of cancellations... I'm telling you, now is the time to book a vacation to Mexico!!! Good rates and all...

My parents just called and heard that the swine flu is "dying down"... The media needs to cut it the F out and report the facts... seriously!!! So many people die of the regular flu, and I just completed a final project about how Tamiflu stopped working on many forms of the regular flu this year... but it still works on the swine flu!!! I hope everyone is hanging in there and not letting everything get to them... F.U. swine flu!!!

Okay, this just totally made my day!!! I want that shirt!!

This is making me crazy... I am going to the TA tomorrow to come up with a plan B God Forbid our plans do not work out. I know our wedding is two months away, but guests are getting concerned... am I acting rationally or irrationally?? My big concern is MOH, future FIL, and my other best friend booked outside of the TA to get a rate cheaper than the group rate...and a few others did not purchase trip insurance... and we would have to find another photographer? This sucks... I am so sorry to everyone having their wedding in the next week or so, all of my heart goes out to you... what the heck should I do?? Now they raised it to level 5 I know people will be cancelling...

Ladies, I watched the news earlier and the Doctor on the news reported that this is a mild strain of the flu and most people who get it are even fine... Med. facilities in Mexico are not as good as the U.S., from what I hear, and Mexico City's population is huge. Also, I did a whole project on how hygiene can become a big problem in Mexico City because of the filthy unerground sewage system... all that said, I really think this will blow over in a week or so... I was talking to a friend last night about it last night and her 20yr old cousing died in a car accident last week and what she said is right, "you need to put things in perspective and be happy for each day. don't let it get to you too much"..... I wish the best for all of us on the forum!

Congrats! We are getting married there too on June 27... pending all the craziness!

I am about to crack... I get married in 2 months, graduate in two weeks, and am in finals now for school, and getting prepped for grad school... and now this? I have gotten a lot of phone calls from people, and so far no cancellations yet... but I am "over it"... if people cancel, then thats on them... if worst comes to worst, TA said we would have to move the wedding to another location... WTF.... I wanna cry, but things could always be worse, we need to put things in perspective right?? Life is short... My heart goes out to everyone and anyone suffering through this, and planning their wedding in Mexico... let's be strong, my prayers are also with all of those who are sick from this flu.

I need to make a list from this thread! -
Haha, it is a contest who's inlaws are the most negative? I bet we are in the running lol... Out of the 70 people attending, only two people are upset about the wedding being in Riviera Maya... guess who? FI's dad and stepmom... we are inconveniencing them by making them spend $2000 in total to attend our wedding... we are "putting them out"... FI was not even notified that his father had gotten remarried until three months after it had occured. And not once was there an offer to help out with any part of the wedding, engagement party, anything...but, this is what WE want, and the other 68 guests are really excited to attend!!!

Anyone NOT making welcome bags??
JoLo908 replied to jerzygirl85's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
We are not making welcome bags because we have about 70 people and it would be impossible to get them to Mexico. We did get personalized travel mugs that we will hand out before hand with a welcome letter! -
Seriously, Tyra is not obsessed with being a mom, or obsessed with kids, she is OBSESSED with herself!!! No wonder she always refers to all of these men and people who hated on her, because she is the most selfish person ever! She should just have herself on as a guest everyday, because the only person she talks about or is concerned about is TYRA! EVER! Sorry to rant, I just think that she is a terrible role model and is a super huge hypocrite. I can't even bare to watch her it makes me sick. Why is this show even on the air? Shame on Tyra for any show she does... she tries to make women look stupid when she is the one who looks like an idiot...

Venting AGAIN about people's reactions...
JoLo908 replied to KJT1985's topic in Just venting or funnies
UGGHHH I understand... we have over 65 people coming... EVERYONE is really excited about it... Except for FI's dad and stepmom... they are pissed that they have to spend $2000 to come for 5 days, all inclusive to Mexico... Even though FI had to move out of his mom's house when he was 18 (dad wasn't around at the time) and never asked for a penny for college, saved on his own for a car, apartment, everything... and they are mad about $2000?? Last time I checked, proper etiquette at home is that the grooms fam pays for the rehearsal dinner.... THAT WOULD COST MORE THAN $2000 FOR A DINNER... NO VACATION.... but.... all that said.... you cannot control what people think/do. Would you ever tell your friends what to do? NO! Anyway, sorry now I a venting.... -
I believe they have a kids club. We met a family from Canada with two young daughters (around 7 or 8 years old) and they went to the kids club. I think the kids can go there as long as they/ their parents please until 4 or 5pm? I may be incorrect on the time, as we will not be having children at our wedding. We did walk past and see the kids club though. there were also a lot of kids playing on the beach as well!
