  1. Happy Wedding Sarah! I know it will be wonderful! You and Kevin really deserve the relaxing time together, especially after the past few months. I wish you all the best and can't wait to see pictures!
  2. Happy Wedding Day! I hope it is even more wonderful than you have imagined! Congrats! Be sure to take lots of pictures to share!
  3. Welcome Erin! I'm a Jamaica bride! You can browse the Jamaica forum and the wedding reviews for more specific info. I'll be posting my review when I return. Feel free to ask any particular questions you my have. Have you found a travel agent to help you sort through all of you options yet?
  4. Thanks for the review Denise! Your florals were amazing! I love the arch! I really really want one, but it looks like the cheapest I can get will be about $700!

welcome Debbie! Have fun searching the forum! I know you will find all kids of helpful info! Congrats and Happy Planning!
  6. Those are beautiful! Plumeria is a favorite flower of mine. THe colors look great together. I'm so sorry you had so much trouble with them, but it looks like you're ready to go now. Addressing them is not so much fun. I recommend getting an early start or hiring a calligrapher! LOL! Of course, I sent out 200 invites so I could be jaded.
  7. Those are super cute, Yari! And the best part is that they will be comfortable! Are those the same dresses Carly had? They look familiar.
  8. I love the idea of your mom walking you down the aisle. She could even answer , when asked "who gives this woman to be married..." "Her father and I do." Ok, I'm already crying! Good luck!
  9. I like them! I think they incorporate your theme and colors really well! Where did you find them?

FI was an Air Force brat and he's 29. When did you live in Guam and W Germany? How funny and what a tiny world if you guys were in the same place at the same time!
  14. I haven't been to many: US Canada Mexico France Germany Bahamas Jamaica (as of next week) My MOH and I take a trip every year and are trying to do all 50 states, starting with the ones neither of us have been to. Then we will do the EU!
  15. You can go to the airline website and look up routes, not individual trips. They should have a schedule of flights in regular service listed. You could also try to find a TA to help out. I did not have a fantastic experience booking as a group, but we did lock in our rates. Looking back, it was worth it, at least financially. I went with Northwest and was able to hold seats from Louisville, Kansas City, Detroit, Miami, and Philadelphia last year when the rates were low. I got my round trip seats for $480 and the same flight is now going for $979! Look for Route Maps: Continental Airlines - Route Maps I will tell you that with the economy, direct flights are harder to get and are more costly.
  16. There really isn't DW etiquette. Traditionally, the only thing the bride and groom are to pay for is bridal party accommodations. They still have to find their own way there! It is up to your guests, especially with a year+ notice to save up and decide to go. We looked at everything on a case by case basis. For example, a GM is a mortgage broker so has been a little slow. He didn't have the money to pay for the trip by the commitment date so we lent him the money. We did offer each bridal party member a "credit" to help defray the cost of the trip and bought the girl's dresses. I would say do NOT offer to pay for anyone. Later, if you have the ability and decide together to help out a particular family member who otherwise could not afford to come, then so be it. It's not fair to pay for one side and not another. You need to use the money you saved to put towards your life together--buy a house, car, re-decorate, invest, etc.
  17. Celina - I am so happy for you. I just hate that this situation ever arose in the first place. Your sister will get what is coming to her. WHen you step back and think about it, realize how wonderful your life is and how terrible her must be to have to resort to such bull-shit for whatever reason. Have a great time at the party and know there is lots of BDW love being sent your way!
  18. One other trick. To help the dress fit, you may need to hold your boobs up and out of the dress while someone else zips you in. Then, you stuff them back in the dress. That way the dress zips and you have life without wearing a bra!
  19. Glenda you are going to look amazing! I can't wait for pictures! As a first step I would call some places to see who can alter a bridal gown and what they would charge. That might really help you decide! Rush alterations can be extremely expensive. You don't want to get stuck with another $300 bill. If it zips and you can breathe, I'd be tempted to say no alterations. If you have your dress, you can try it on once a week to check your progress! LOL It's better than having it sit somewhere for 2 weeks to find it doesn't fit (trust me). If you keep doing so well with your diet, you should be fine. Be sure to stick to cardio and avoid upper body weights. This sucks because if you have flabby arms like me, you will want to fix them. My seamstress warned against this because it develops back and chest muscles. You can lose pounds but gain inches. If you are only wearing your dress for the ceremony and pictures, why bustle? You can always throw the train over your arm or have FI carry it when you need to move.
  20. I don't think you are being unreasonable, especially when considering your history. I do think you need to let it go though, at least for now. Maybe she was making an effort at the wedding or was drugged. Either way if she's not as bitchy just take what you can get! She did give you notice which is a plus. She did give you about a month and did offer 2 different dates, it's not like she showed up on your door step. I'd say try and get through this first visit, being thankful that you don't live close by. Maybe suggest that she pick a movie to go see while she is there. That way you are being social but don't have to talk to her and if it's her selection, she can only blame herself! Good Luck! FI's family was like that with me and still are a little bit, even after 6.5 years and an upcoming wedding!
  21. Sandra - Happy Belated Birthday! I hope it was great! September 15 You take life as it is, and you find happiness in a variety of things. You tend to be close to family and friends. But it's hard to get into your inner circle. Making the little things wonderful is important to you, and you probably have an inviting home. You seek harmony with others, but occasionally you have a very stubborn streak. Your strength: Your intense optimism This is pretty accurate! Your weakness: You shy away from exploring your talents Your power color: Jade Your power symbol: Flower Your power month: June

Morgan, I'm guessing that if we all got together for a party WE would be trashed! LOL You'd have to bring Nibblet too! They make ferret tuxedos tho, so he doesn't need to be worried about being under-dressed.
  23. OMG dogs are so funny! How did you even think of putting the dog in a diaper? And, where is the picture!
  24. I love it! I looked at a similar one at Macy's but it definitely wasn't $89! LOL I think your girls couls easily wear them again too, which is always a plus!
  25. Welcome back! I can't wait for details!
