I think a big problem I have is the flip-flopping. She and her husband initially said they would go to our wedding when we told them to plan $1500 for the weekend. Then, her husband siad he didn't think he wanted to go to Jamaica but if they could sell this thing they would go. She was very excited about it being adults only. They sold the property for a 20K profit but her husband still wasn't sure he wanted to go. He also told her she "wasn't allowed" to go without him. Keep in mind she does work and makes her own money. We did end up losing the deposit money for their trip because they waited so long to give me a firm no. Her husband also said from the outset he wasn't going to the FL wedding (and she couldn't go without him) but now they are and without the kids, I talked to the bride who said they retracted their no RSVP and now coming. I HATE the "my husband won't let me" attitude. This is a new thing that started after the move to the suburbs. I think a lot of her avoidance is because she doesn't stand up for herself. My husband does not "allow" me to do anything! I am an adult and make my own decisions as an equal. I know I'll get over it, I just hate that we both had to feel any awkwardness towards each other.

http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t16525 TA Jennifer posted a great thread about all the work your TA can do for you. If you do decide to go with a TA, I would highly recommend one who specializes in weddings. There are several on the forum, but I'm thinking TA Jill specializes in Dreams Cancun? Plus, it's great when we can support a fellow BDWer!

Mike is stuck on Isaiah (but that's only b/c he thinks "Isaiah Thomas" would be funny). I have a client whose husband wanted to name their baby girl Laurel Ann. Sounds pretty, but their last name is Hardy. So she would've been Laurel & Hardy - the comics from the 30s and 40s.

Sarah! Congrats! I somehow missed the big news and didn't pay attention to your siggy! I like traditional names, but in a unique mix. I have a bunch of names for my eventual baby girl. LOL Most of them are family names, but I am also really liking Piper, Reese, Regan, Annala (on-uh-luh). Our choices are: Lorelei Vincent Piper Madeline Cecilia Grace Lillian May Wendell Wallace Emma Claire I don't want to name the baby until she is here. I like having a list and then see which one suits her best. Can you tell that I am trying to put the baby girl vibe out there? LOL Of course, I'd love a boy, I just would much prefer girls.

I have a very good friend who did not come to my wedding in Jamaica. We were very close. At one point I would go to her house after work, not my own so we could hang out every day. I was very close to her daughter and saw her at least 4 times a week for the first 2 years of her life. 2 years ago this month, she and her husband moved to "the 'burbs" and now her house is about 45 minutes away form me and most of her other friends. Needless to say, I don't see her as much anymore but we still get together at least once a month. Together, she and her husband make well over 100K a year. For reasons still unknown they didn't come to the wedding. It was no one can watch the kids, we don't want to leave them for 4 days, she is scared to fly, it is too much money, etc. I know she felt guilty and even made comments like, "I'll buy you a really expensive gift". She did help host the bachelorette party and a shower. Still I felt like there is tension between us and she was avoiding me. She wouldn't return calls, that kind of thing. Now that the wedding is over, she is calling again. The long back-story brings me to this. I just found out from another friend, that she is going to a different friend's DW in Florida in September! My friend is a teacher so she will have to take off work, find someone to watch the kids, the resort where the wedding is being held is $350 a night for rooms plus all meals and drinks. She did go to HS with the bride, but now only sees her once a year if we visit her in Chicago. The bride hasn't been back to Kentucky in 3 years. I'm a little hurt by all this and am trying to figure out if I am over-reacting. It won't be the end of our friendship, I'm just a tad bit pissed at her. And, she hasn't told me herself that she is going. DH and I will not be there because we don't want to spend that much money to go to Florida and because he is out of vacation time.

Hi Kristy! It is much easier being on a first-name basis.

I agree. I'm wearing my formal dress again because #1 it was pretty expensive (or at least over my budget) so I want to get all the use I can out of it, and #2 I do think it helps people feel included in the wedding, even if they weren't at the ceremony. Our bridal party will be wearing their attire as well. Our wedding day was the hottest one of our entire trip so we didn't take many pictures. This way we can sneak some more in.

Don't get me wrong, I love me some make-up, but it is saying something when you can look just as good without it. You can always schedule another shoot for Valentines or your first anniversary if you are unhappy with them.

I used the palms to line the aisle and just sprinkled rose petals (I didn't have a flower girl) I did use a runner on the sand, just to make things a little more even. You can get colored or personalized runners if you want something a little more unique.

flip flop sizing
ErinB replied to meghanmbm's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
I only did them for the bridal party, so I knew their sizes. If your group is small, there are probably ways to find out. You can also just put small, medium, large and get 3 different sizes and guests can trade around. I would assume most women wear an 8. At least that is the size that is always gone first from the clearance racks! I guess guys wear an 10-11? That was pretty common for our group. -
I love it when Mike dances. He is so BAD I can't even begin to describe it! My favorite is when a techno song comes on the radio or tv. He goes "look honey, it's my glowstick dance!" and he proceeds to fling his arms around and bounce, but he gets this goofy look on his face and sticks his tongue out. You have to realize though, the man is a 6'5" 370 pound offensive lineman.

I eat Fiber One, Kashi Go Lean or All-Bran with extra fiber. They are great because you get filled up and there are only 60 calories per serving! Some of the Kashi cereals are too sweet for me, I can't do that much sugar/maple/honey in the morning.

Welcome to the forum! You'll love it!

You can do bottle openers, beer coozies, frisbees, cigar clippers, disposable razors. We did mini shaving cream and Axe body spray, mini shoe shine buffer things, eyeglass cleaning cloths, golf balls, a mini nail kit that had clippers and scissors (my DH always forgets nail clippers and q-tips). It was kinda hard to shop for our single guys!

How many official members are there now? I know not everyone is active so it makes it hard to tell. I can probably list 50 names off the top of my head! LOL

I love those shoes! I so would have worn them in my wedding! Macys had the most beautiful ombre dress that sounds just like the one you were talking about. Hell, I'd pay full price for both!
