  1. Congrats and Happy Planning!
  2. This is what I was talking about for hair. Maybe add a flower or a sparkly vintage clip...
  3. You will need to check with the resort. Sometimes the included cake will only feed 8 people max and you have to pay for a larger one to feed all of your guests. The free flowers are pretty basic and most brides upgrade them. You might end up paying for them any way. Yopu could always take high quality silks with you. That way you have what you want and can bring them back home. You can't bring live plants across the border.
  4. OMG! How cute is that baby! Tammy, I don't know how you do it. I could never give the puppies up! I'd be the crazy dog lady! And your camera skills get better every day! You need to open a pet photography studio!
  5. If you are only doing a small wedding for family, you'll need2 sets of invites. Send those you want to come to the wedding an invite now instead of an STD. If you want to send AHR STDs you can do that for everyone on your list. AHR invites go out to everyone 6-8 weeks before the AHR. I like Nicole's wording about a private ceremony. These can be as formal or informal as you want.
  6. As a gift what about an underwater disposable camera? That is the one thing I really wished I had taken. We did give our guests regular disposable cameras so they didn't have to take good ones on excursions or share if the couple was doing separate activites. I would have liked to do the underwater ones, but with the cost of everything else in the bags, it would have blown my budget! Some guests did bring the underwater cameras and they have some fun pictures. I think this is a nice thing that most people don't have or think about and they can be really expensive to buy there. They were like $17 at our resort gift shop!
  7. Have you tried a seach? Try the hotel name or GBP.
  8. I love it! Will you have a veil or hair flowers? I think half up/half down would be good for your hair. You can get some romantic curls and frame your face, but also have the practiality of no hair in your eyes. I think an up-do would be to formal for this look.
  9. Looks great from what I can see. It says that your images have been removed from photobucket. Did you maybe move them into a different album?
  10. I agree with Andrea. You can give items out before hand so you don't have to transport them. I like the idea of a beach bag. I was going to suggest a travel candle, but those suckers are heavy, especially if you have 60+. I sent out a welcome packet (or novel - it was 15 pages) that detailed the area, things to pack, info on the resort, etc and luggage tags for each guest. Some other ladies have sent out a pre-travel letter with CDs. I think whatever you choose to do will be fine. No one goes to a DW expecting a goodie bag. If you only want to write each guest a thank you note or a welcome letter that is fine. I think any acknowlegement of their travel and suuport of you is fine. If you still want to give them something, what about a group excursion or spa credit or something?
  11. Welcome! In researching a destination, be sure to ask if you can get married on a Sunday. In Jamaica it wasn't allowed. If the date is really special to you, you can always get legally married here and have a symbolic ceremony presided over by a friend or family memeber. Good Luck and Happy Planning!

    Hi Everyone!

Welcome and Happy Planning! The forum will be a wonderful resource!
  14. Great start! I used gift bags and they were so easy to pack because they laid flat. Smart move!
  15. Maura, you looked absolutely beautiful! I know I'm a crier, but I got a little misty looking at the photos! The one of Jose reading what I assume is you love letter was just great! PS. I don't think you are behind in posting at all! You haven't even been married 3 weeks! Relax and enjoy the "newlywed" phase!
  16. I agree. I have no problem with anything that supports the forum. I would even pay a membership fee if need be! As Abbie stated, the ones on the sides aren't necessarily seen. It only took a few days to get used to the new format.
  17. The porch is actually an "all season" room because it has glass & screen windows and it is vented for air and heat. I will never have money again! LOL As excited as I am, I feel like I am neglecting BDW while I'm home!
  18. I actually know a few people that have had to have them removed. Maybe that is another reason tampons freak me out. I still use them for the convience/cleanliness factor, but it is still weird to me. I'm ok with not having periods ever again. If it weren't for me wanting a baby, I'd get fixed somehow!
  19. Most of them are at least 72" (6 ft) others are 96" (8 ft). Widths will also vary between 6 and 12 inches. The size and fabric will depend on your final look. The longer they are, the larger the bow or longer the tails. If you use a soft fabric like chiffon, the bows will be really limp. Satin can be shaped as can a starched organza. I hope that helped! LOL
  20. This is an updated version of Sheva Borchat that I like: From "The New Jewish Wedding" By Anita Diamant We acknowledge the Unity of all within the sovereignty of God, expressing our appreciation for this wine, symbol and aid of our rejoicing. We acknowledge the Unity of all within the sovereignty of God, realizing that each separate moment and every distinct object points to and shares in this oneness. We acknowledge the Unity of all within the sovereignty of God, recognizing and appreciating the blessing of being human. We acknowledge the Unity of all within the sovereignty of God, realizing the special gift of awareness that permits us to perceive this unity and the wonder we experience as a man and a woman joined to live together. May rejoicing resound throughout the world as the homeless are given homes, persecution and oppression cease, and all people learn to live in peace with each other and in harmony with their environment. From the Divine, source of all energy, we call forth an abundance of love to envelop this couple. May they be for each other lovers and friends, and may their love partake of the same innocence, purity, and sense of discovery that we imagine the first couple to have experienced. We acknowledge the Unity of all within the sovereignty of God, and we highlight today joy and gladness, bridegroom and bride, delight and cheer, love and harmony, peace and companionship. May we all witness the day when the dominant sounds through the world will be these sounds of happiness, the voices of lovers, the sounds of feasting and singing. Praised is love; blessed be this marriage. May the bride and bridegroom rejoice together.
  21. Will he read in Hebrew or do you want something that has been translated with Hebrew origins? Are you going to do the Sheva Brachot?
  22. Welcome! We were married in Jamaica and loved it! Lots of activites and the scenery is beautiful! You can also check into places like Belize and Costa Rica that focus on eco-tourism. I would say as a first step, write out a wish list of everything you want. Next, come up with a budget and work to make those two things gel together. Have fun searching the forum! Good luck!
  23. Welcome! There is a ton of info here. Have fun searching/browsing the fourm!
  24. I got the smae error message in Chineta. I don't even see the option in Girl Talk.
