The little cute stainless steel machine is currently cooking some yummy chicken. I will let you know how good it is later. Everyone gets a crock-pot as a shower gift! LOL So, if you want one, be sure it goes on your registry!
  2. Those are great! I haven't seen any of those before. I read an interesting article on that guy before. It had pictures of him during the whole process. The art is only 3-D from one particular angle. I'm envious of his talent!
  3. Alyssa I can't believe your big day is here! I hope it is an even better day than you imagined. I know it will be breathtakingly beautiful. All of your hard work is going to pay off! Remember, even if there are minor glitches, you will be a MRS, the most important thing!
  4. I had one of each! My Matron was the one that signed the marriage license.
  5. I must be the weirdo. I love storms! DH does too. Since he's from Kansas, our storms aren't nearly like what he saw growing up. We had roomates who weren't used to bad weather so they would immediately head to the basement with a radio and jugs of water. DH and I would be on the front porch with cocktails watching stuff blow around. We live in an older nieghborhood, so trees are always coming down. I have a tree I want to have taken out, so I'm hoping with the Gustave/Hannah left overs it will fall, just not on my new house!
  6. Those are great tips! I would add be sure your photog and DJ have lists of what photos and songs you want. I had given each of them a list before hand, but didn't bring a copy with me to the wedding. I ended up with no pictures of me and DH alone and all of my guests sitting in confusion while "Thriller" played.
  7. I'm not really banned though...If anything it takes up more time because I have to read more and post more to find out where it won't work! LOL

  9. I'm pretty much a southerner being born and bred in KY. I can usually control my accent unless I am 1) drunk, 2) tired, 3) incredibly pissed 4) around the accent. Most people don’t hear it now and are always surprised. When I was little it was BAD!!! I still say ya'll for you all. Ima means I'm going to. "Ima stop and get a bottle of wine on the way home." We "fix" to do things. I'm fixin' to go to the store, We're fixin' to leave in about 10 minutes. Mainly words get really drawn out, everything must have 2 syllables (bo-oat, fi-ive, ni-ine, dawg), the last consonant gets dropped, especially g, half of our sentences end in a question -you make your voice go up in at the end, inflection. I still say Miss when referring to young girls and old ladies at church. Now the little girls are starting to call me Miss too! Every soda is a Coke. What kind of coke do you want? And southern women always refer to their parents as Mama and Daddy. I don't care how old you are! We also have those stupid Mamaw and Papaw names for grandparents that I hate. I will not be teaching my children that! There are things that I don't say like warsh (wash) or cincinnata/missoura (Cincinnati/Missouri). Good thread, I'll have to think of some others.
  10. Congrats and Welcome! You will love Negril!

I just like to think (naively?) that we should not expose younger children to so much sexuality, especially if they are not prepared to handle it. I'll watch the show, but I won't let my 5 year old niece, KWIM?
  12. ok, it's happening again! But only in "Random Thoughts" threads. Maybe my mind is too random to handle?!? I never thought about the ferrets...But I love them and can't give them up! Is there such thing as ferret re-hab?

I kind of agree. I mean I liked the show, but I don't know that I would want a young daughter to watch it. I remember fighting with my mom to watch the original. I was 11 or 12 when it started. Sometimes I would even have to sneak over to a friend's house to watch. It is a little tamer than Gossip Girl. The teen drinking/drugs/overt sex on that show is rampant. I love that show but I'm an adult.
  14. Kaylee chose the same dress I used. They are Tiffany Blue (aqua) but don't look that way on the website. The Turquoise is also very pretty. I got my MOH dress through tjformals.com as recommended by Morgan. You can usually find a 15% off coupon. We didn't pay tax or shipping nor any charge for plus sizes. I think they worked out to be $104
  15. The only thing I can contribute is to do what teh other ladies have suggested. Get a good base tan, wear strapless or alternate straps. If you are just laying out, move them around. Be sure you wear sunscreen, especially if you do wear something with straps. If you burn, you can always see the edges. I would take some Jergens or other lotion with a small amount of self-tanner. Put it on to help even your color out, without turning orange.

LOL I know that it is run like a business. You get cash for all sorts of things on a sliding scale, it costs to trade, you earn points like NASCAR. It nice because there is a weekly winner so you can make money throughout the season, not just the giant pot at the end. I think they even have some kind of escrow account where they keep all of the money and it can carry over from season to season.
  17. DH had Fantasy Draft last night too! I never realized these things were so ogranized! I know some of them are crazy! A guy I used to work with had a $2K buy in! It was nice for him to be gone so I could watch my show and drink my wine in peace! LOL
  18. Cute! I love colonials! We closed in 12 days! Be happy for the 5 weeks.
  19. I'm so glad the show wasn't totally stupid! Though they did have a lot going on...adoption, surprise baby, car accident... The Annie girl was a little too happy sometimes and over-killed the singing bit, but I wonder if that super smilieness is part of her real personality. All in all, I'm hooked. The DVR is set for the season! LOL In case anyone missed it, I think it will be replayed on Thurs or Fri.
  20. Those sound great! I might have to try them out!
  21. Congrats to them both. Sam is a little cutie pie!

I love the new siggy!
  23. Housework has always been the biggest source of our fights. I don't know why I am supposed to throw him a party if he does the dishes. We have a dishwasher for the love of god! He does usually do the laundry without bitching, so at least it's something. I think I just have a lot of issues with his family. If I can keep them away from each other, he's ok, but once they are all together again, the bullshit starts. That's when I notice more of the tone and little things like leaving the toilet seat up. It's almost like he has to show off for his dad, like he'll be less manly if he treats me like a person.
  24. I'm not a photographer, but I love looking at these pictures! BB&B had prints of college teams using photo letters like this! Cardinals, Wildcats, Hoosiers, etc.
  25. I've tried talking about it with him but he just says I over react and that he doesn't sound the way I say he does. I blame a lot of this on his parents and I think I might be overly sensitive when they are around. I just don't want to spend my life this way, or worse, have my kids grow up hearing and speaking that way.
