I think you just have to go try it on. Here's what I did. I showed my DH about 10 different gowns in magazines to get a feel for what he liked. Some were dresses I was considering a a few were "decoys" so he would still be surprised to see my in my dress.
  2. It's easy to get overwhelmed! There is always Etsy. Have you tried going to any local department stores to see any in person? My set was from: Pearl Jewelry, Sterling Silver and Bridal Jewelry, Charms and quality Fashion Jewelry at Carolee They are kinda pricey on the web but I got mine 50% off at Dillards in the store. My earrings and bracelet together were less than $100, maybe even less than $75. I don't remember!
  3. I'm still checking. Does anyone have the dress in a 6 or 8? She would have time to have it cut down. if she got it soon. I had a last minute BM substitution, and was able to have a dress that was an 8 altered to fit a 2 and it looked fine.
  4. The free bouquets are very basic. WIth enough advanced notice, you can usually get whatever you want for your DW, but for a price. I personally didn't see the point on spending $250 on just my bouquet, about $700 total for all of the flowers, to get the orchids I wanted. As mentioned before, you can't bring your flowers back across the border, so I would have had to just throw them away.
  5. Sign: Virgo (August 22-September 22) Personality traits: Organized, helpful and a perfectionist. Bridal pro: Problem-solving, commitment and attention to detail are some of your strongest talents. These characteristics will ensure that every single detail from the decoration setup right down to the limo pickup is taken care of. Bridal con: Your perfectionism may get in the way of accomplishing tasks on time. Remember, not everything must be perfect! Learn to divide your time equally and prioritize what is most important. This is me to a T! I had so many last minute things I was working on because they had to be just so. Though, there were small things like petal cones that didn't get assembled until we got there. At that point I just told everyone to get them done! LOL
  6. Welcome Erin! You'll find tons of helpful info here!
  7. Courtney! I am so jealous! I can't wait to see pics! Belieze is on our list of places to go.
  8. #1 for sure. It is unique and IMO more memorable than the 2nd. If you choose #2 will it have a colored sash? If so, what color?
  9. Try searching AHR or At Home Reception. This is just like planning a party. You need to decide how formal you want it to be and most importanly what the budget is. I would still send invites 6-8 weeks before your date so your guests can plan to attend. My AHR was pretty formal, much like a traditional wedding reception, so I wore my dress, we cut cake, danced, etc. Some of the other ladies have had less formal gatherings. It's all up to your personal taste. As far as alcohol is concerend, you can possibly get a case discount from a local liquor store, but it's usually only about 10%. Be sure to check the store's return policy. Some will give you cash, others only store credit. Beer and sodas, if kept at a consistent temperature, can safely keep for 6 months or more. You could start buying cases when they are on sale and store them. I'm a caterer/event planner so if you need more help, feel free to ask!
  10. Oh no! we were on our way to Linen's & Things last night and decided to wait until today. I have a $100 gift card! I'm calling right now! Just talked to the manager... She said they are still accepting gift cards until further notice. I would sugguest getting there ASAP if you have any cards or returns.
  11. You can also try Red Wing shoes. Their website is currently down, but I know they have 4E. Good Luck!
  12. blaze italic - Search - dafont.com There are several results on DaFont.com but you have to pay. I personally don't have it to share.
  13. You MADE the dress! Wow! I am beyond impressed and I haven't even seen it!
  14. Any news? It's been forever since I've heard from her.
  15. My resort was ok with same-sex couples. We paired off singles and it was fine. They all had a ball! If that is the only thing stopping you, I say do a little more research. I love kids, but it was nice not to have any there at the resort. There were no children in my wedding and the guests that did have kids could not have afforded to bring them - they were able to finally be "forced" to take a grown-up vacation. it's not that we noticed children missing, more that we didn't know they were there. I've been to some resorts and having loud kiddo splashing in the pool is not so much fun, or relaxing.
  16. I think JR. Bridesmaid is an option as is Bridal Attendant. Either way, she'll be really excited to be included, especially if she gets a special dress.
  17. I love earring #2! I think if you go with updo 1 with the sprakles, you won't need much accessorizing up top. I'd go for a pretty bracelet and maybe a fun cocktail ring to wear on your right hand.
  18. Welcome to the forum! I know the RIU hotels are family friendly. The Grand Pallaidum is new and very pretty. We were married at Couples Swept Away in Negril. It was wonderful, but is only for couples.
  19. How pretty! As soon as I saw it, I thought of Rebecca. Now I know why! How great that you can get a visual of what it will look like at a real beach wedding!
